War With the Flies

2009-Jul-08, Wednesday 05:08 pm
msmoon: (RVB - Red Bull)

Alas, I have had a buggy little problem in my house. For the past few weeks, there have been a number of fruit flies and just common house flies in my house. Now... I'm generally a laid-back sort of person. A fly or two doesn't really bother me. As long as they leave me alone, I'm fine. Unfortunately, this became more than a fly or two very quickly AND they constantly buzzed about me. It seemed like over-night, I had 3 dozen flies in my house. And that's just the house flies, not the fruit flies. I cannot begin to count their number. I mentioned it to Dad, and I got some pesticide spray.

Dad said that around the back of their house they had the same problem. Well, the garbage had begun to pile up, and when Dad went to burn what he could, he found a bunch of maggots in the garbage can.... XP OMG, so nasty. So, evidently, the flies were just gathering around their back yard where the garbage cans were, and since my house is (technically) in their backyard, they just decided to come on over. Spraying the pesticide on the walls and outside my house has not helped. So, this past weekend (while I was feeling crapy with my leg hurting and all anyway) I decided to keep the spray handy......I ended up pretty much declaring war on the flies. I put the pesticide squirt nozzle on the direct spray, so that it shoots out a single line of liquid as opposed to a poof cloud spray. Every time I saw one, I ended up cornering it and just sprayed till I'd knocked the sucker into a puddle of pesticide. I'm very happy to report that my house is virtually fly free. There's an odd one here or there in rooms I don't go in that often, but over-all N2 has no flies in it right now :)

The only down-side is that I can only spray pesticide for so long without hacking my lungs out. Too much of it in one room makes my throat and nose itch like crazy >..< So, I try to limit the amount I spray... When the house was over-run with them, I was terribly miserable. Now, it's not so bad since I only see one odd fly now and then. But now, I'm not so relaxed about it. Used to, if I saw a fly, I'd just let it be. But after this entire ordeal, one fly means I'm off to fetch the pesticide -..- The annoying little buggers aren't even smart enough to leave me alone, and an annoying pest is about as bad as one that bites or stings.

Oh, and Mom and Dad are away now. Dad got called out early Monday... well, to be precise, he called his company asking when they wanted him, and they said "a day earlier than usual". He'll be towing the rig this hitch, so he may be out for anywhere between 14 to 37 days @..@ And since he had to leave Monday at noon, and he didn't get any sleep before hand, and since Mom's older sister (Aunt Audrey) has been having serious heart trouble in the way of multiple heart attacks, Mom decided to accompany him and drive back up after Aunt Audrey's surgery. So, I'm left to hold down the fort while they're gone. All I really have to do is burn my own trash, collect their mail, watch out for Aunt Carolyn's mail and cut the grass at some point.... fun.

Oh, yesterday was my day with Alicia. She pretty much comes over every Tuesday now. We were checking to see places we could visit in Branson... of course it was a great excuse just to go to Branson and map the place out for me. Alicia wanted to go to Staples too, and I've actually never been to a Staples. But, I'm getting ahead of myself.

I had an appointment with the chiropractor yesterday at 3, so Alicia came over early, but accompanied me to the chiropractor (with a small assortment of the first volumes of my manga collection). I told the doctor about how I injured my knee Friday, and she checked it and said my ankle and knee were out of alignment because of it. So she adjusted it too and told me to ice it as well as my lower back (20 minutes on the ice pack and 2 hours off). After that, we went straight to Branson.

On the way there, Alicia got really hungry....and I started getting hungry too. We had planned on stopping at Applebee's to get a to-go menu (turns out they didn't even have any at the time -..-), so we just decided to have lunch there. They still had that 2 meals for $20 deal, so we went ahead and did that. Then we went to Staples, and I found some of those
Soney Earbuds that Takara had showed me at the Lock-In. They fit really easily into the ear, and unlike the original earbuds I had, they don't hurt. Oh, and they were only $9.99, soooo I got them :) We also went to K-Mart, but that was because Alicia said that her mom needed some loafers and ... she wanted to buy them for her... I dunno. Whatever.

Uhhh, then we went to the theater to check and see if they had the times that Transformers 2 would be playing for this Saturday... they only replied that the Imax had it... which really didn't help us much. I told Alicia that I knew the Imax's web site said they wouldn't be playing Transformers 2 after the 9th, so I'd call this little cinema on the 10th and ask if they were having it then. Over-all, we'll have to see, otherwise our trip to Branson will be ...underwhelming at best. After that we were a bit bummed so we went to Best Buy, and I found
Tall Tale on DVD. I was so excited, because I loved this movie when I was young, and it didn't seem like it'd ever come out on DVD. And there it was... for $6.99! So... of course, I got it =..=' And Best Buy was right next to Books-A-Million ... so, no surprise where we went next. I ended up buying this enormous book on Mythology called Mythology: Myths, Legends, & Fantasies. It's massive and I probably paid entirely too much for it... and I love it :3 Of course, this thing is so comprehensive, I may never need another book or reference on mythology EVER. In the back, there's an index for referencing individual things, but there's also a section that breaks down each section and says "For Further Reading" and tells you many books that you can get if you want to focus solely on one thing. It's huge o..o

After that, Alicia and I came home... although it took her a while to adjust to manga reading, she did manage to finish the first volume of Furuba in the car on the way home while I rocked out. I've also managed to get her hooked on the Corrs and Nightwish... mwahaha :D But anyway! Then when we got home, and after we unpacked we finished watching Princess Mononoke. Miyazaki-san is so awesome. I think Alicia agrees :) I was actually surprised to learn that the english voice-actor that spoke for Moro... is Gillian Anderson, aka Scully o..o How many cool points can you earn? :D Anyway! After that, she went home and I showered and went to bed.

I really have been loafing about today...but I'm really tired and just content to so. I mean, I know I probably should've cut grass.... but, I can always do it later. Annnd now, I gotta go and get ready... gotta leave for church around 6:45 and my hair is riotous :3 I like getting ready early so that I can relax and not rush before I leave. So! I'm off. I'll type later, Sunshines :)

msmoon: (RVB - Words)

For some God-awful reason, I cannot get some of the songs from the Daria musical out of my head! I keep repeating “The big wet rainstorm’s over!” and “What if the town blew away” o..o

/clears throat. Gosh, but it feels like ages since I actually made a post. I rely on Twitter a lot to convey those little dribbles of everyday life...Today, there will be no tweets though, as I took a bit of a mental health day. I just read and amused myself all day long. If you can call reading manga via the internet 'reading'. It's not the old fashion style of having a physical tome in your hands and curling up in bed to enjoy it (which I much enjoy), but it'll do.

So! ... I was lollygagging about on deviantart the other night, when I happened to stumble across a very talented artist by name of
kara-lija. She has some absolutely beautiful stuff really, and I was just so taken with her style. I came across one of her misc creations, and she said it was from Boys Over Flowers. So, I decided to head over to One Manga (thanks, Reiko!) and see if they had that available to read. Aaaand they did!.... 240 something chapters of it O..o' So... I started reading it. I got though 125 chapters =..= Of course, around 10 tonight, I had the amazingly bright idea to head over to Anime Squish (thanks, Scamp!) and see if they had the anime available to watch....and they do.

I only got to watch a bit of the first episode, but since I've read the manga... I kinda know what's going on and all. Although, I beginning to wonder if Anime Squish has problems with all the first episodes. The first Ep of PGSM wouldn't play either, and the first of BoF isn't right... the sound and the picture are askew. Then again, it's really the only place I know of you can watch subbed anime for free -..- Of course, now that I've spent all day on Mako-kun, reading the manga... My eyes feel strained from staring at the screen (and growling at the computer & internet connection). So... I'm not enthusiastic about letting the video load and then watching it =..= Maybe tomorrow.

In Totally Unrelated news; Mom's home from her Distract Assembly trip. She said that actually had a tornado scare this afternoon. No one was hurt at the assembly, but it was still more excitement than they'd wanted. I told her that a few days ago, I noticed a small reddish, pimple-sized bump on the top of my thigh and above my hip. It didn't bother me over-much. But then, it itched a bit, and I did what I could to ignore it. Then... I woke up and the bumps are the size of dimes. Malformed, melted dimes, but dimes none the less! She simply looked at me, like a cow looks at an on-comming train and said, "Yeah, Hon. Those're chiggers... they call 'em red bugs here in the country." =..= She then informed me that I might need to rub some sort of ointment on it, but otherwise it shouldn't be much of a bother... other than the overwhelming urge to scratch >..>

<..< ... >..> ... I really have little else to say. Other than wondering when I'll have to make the mad-dash to straighten up around here for Bear and Scamp's visit, I've really little to look forward to. I did drop off a resume at a doctor's office that's in desperate need for help. I called them as well, and they said they'd tell their office manager (who was off on vacation, but would be coming back in a few days) that I was very interested in the position. Other than that, there really are no new developments.

Well...I'm about to have my evening bowl of cereal and then it's off to bed for me. I'll write latter, Sunshines :)

Mecha Con Whirlwind

2008-Aug-05, Tuesday 11:30 am
msmoon: (SM - Playful Uranus)

Holy crow….I think I might actually be recovered from the con (or well on my way)...I’m still sorta tired, but…I’m always tired.

Saturday, we dragged ourselves out of bed around 9 to go to Vs. A Leo. We ended up walking in just as they started (thanks to Reiko and Reign’s smoke breaks). Talk about hilarious. I don’t know how they end up with come-backs so quickly, but those two guys are hilarious. After an hour of amusing ourselves with that, we headed back out (because Emphysema and Bronchitis needed their fix again). We hung out (invariable going to the dealers room or just walking around) till 1, and I went to see the panel called 15 Years of Sailor Moon…..which…..ended up frustrating me, and I just left that panel early.

There was more hanging out till about 4ish, when we headed down to the bus area. The cosplay competition had gotten so big, they actually reserved Angelle Hall on the University of Louisiana at Lafayette campus. Talk about madness. We got in on the second bus (first seats), and the lobby of the hall was full when we got there, and I’m fairly sure two more buss loads were dropped off. Then they opened the doors O..O I managed to scamper down and get us seats on the edge of the 6th row to the far right side. Finally, it seemed like everyone got seated and situated.

Then they made us wait an hour. But of course, we’re anime fans…and most of us are kids to boot. So we didn’t just sit quietly. First there was singing, clapping, everything we could do to keep ourselves entertained. Then, the guys in the back who control the lights, sound and everything in the auditorium used one of those red laser lights and he was pointing out things on the stage….well, it turns out someone else…brought a laser light. Two to be precise. There was one red one and one green one, and they would chase each other around on the walls and ceiling. Then the guys in back made the spot light chase them around. There was music, and eventually dancing by everyone in the auditorium, but…it stopped when someone stupid got on the stage. Yeah. But then we all sat down and watched the laser lights ^..^ Twas funny.

The cosplay competition was good. I got it all on Zeiss, but for some odd reason, none of the pictures Reiko took came out. But it was pretty awesome, and I did get it on DVD at least. There was a “Dating Game” thingy in between the competition and the awards (so that we don’t all go stir crazy again), and there was a “Het” Round and a “Yaoi” round =..= Oddly enough, the Yaoi round was funnier, but I didn’t record it! So yeah. I wanted to have room on the DVD for the awards and stuff, so I didn’t record that, but you know. Whatever. The memories will still rock.

We went back to the hotel (after waiting for the buss for 35 minutes) and I went to sleep. Reiko, on the other hand, went to the “Mecha Con House Party/Rave”. Then she went and swam with some guys (though the pool was closed so they had to jump the fence. A storm rolled in though. So they came back to their hotel rooms….at 4:30 in the morning =..= Evidently Reiko had met a guy named Gaven that night, and they all agreed to go and eat sushi during the “happy hour” between 10 and 2. They agreed to meet at 11…….But see, they were all exhausted. I woke up and got ready around 10ish, and Reign knocked on my door around 11 telling me that Reiko needed to get up now because they’d all agreed to go out for sushi….She was ready by 11:40 but…there was no sign of Gaven. I found out that Gaven is the “Local Fraternity Rich Kid” and he knows all the local restaurants and what’s good…and plus he was really freakin’ awesome. So yeah, they really liked hanging around with him. He did show up around 12ish, and we went through the dealers room one more time (Gaven wanted a hentai shirt and Reiko got a black Yoshi plushy), and then we headed all the way across town…to find that sushi places are closed on Sundays. I knew this, but I guess I figured that, you know, maybe not all of them adhered to this. So, we ended up going to Chili’s for breakfast (of course, by the time we got there and ordered it was around 1:40). But after much toil and sorrow we got our food and were happy. At this point, we were having such fun hanging out that I decided to blow off whatever panels I might've wanted to go to that day. Who needs the con when you've got cool people, right?

After eating and goofing off a bit, we headed back to the hotel, and instead of prolonging the inevitable, we decided to go ahead and start packing up to leave. I’d gotten a text from Scamp, but my phone was on silent so…yeah. I texted back asking if she could show up in the lobby around 3:45. She said they might be a little late, but they’d be there. We headed down, and the boys were good to help us with the luggage cart. I told them to go ahead and take the luggage out and I’d check out. After check out, I walked out to the parking lot to find Gaven on the luggage cart (surfing it) with Reign pushing the cart, and Reiko trailing behind holding Reign’s leash…..these crazy kids are so much fun. We stopped outside (after turning in the luggage cart) and they took a smoke break ….and stalked Master Roshi. Reiko had gotten some new pants that say “I *heart* Kyo”, and who better to take a naughty picture with than Master Roshi, right? So, Master Roshi finally came back (they’d seen him pass already), and Reiko got her picture with him.

Needless to say the pictures from the trip are great….even if there aren’t enough of them. True, Facebook’s stupid 60-Picture limit would hinder anything more than the 125 we had, but it’d make a great album. I was thinking of buying a couple of matching albums and printing out the pictures so Reiko and I can have the ultimate memento. It’d be awesome…it’s just…to find the right one, ya know?

Sunday after the con is a blur really. I know that Scamp showed up and then we drove home. I uploaded pics to MySpace right away, but couldn’t edit them all….the internet kept crashing >..< Oh well. I’ll get around to it. Anyway, I went to bed late, not because I wasn’t tired, but because I was so tired I couldn’t rest. I tried to read a bit (and since I bought a crap-load of manga, that worked nicely for me ^..^). Monday was terrible. I wasn’t feeling good and I was zonked from the whirlwind weekend. After work (which just dragged by), I went over to my Aunt Carolyn’s house to eat. Mom and Dad had gotten in from Arkansas, and Aunt Carolyn had cooked jambalaya and white beans. I ate and was very happy.

After getting home, I got a call from Reiko. She said she’d been talking to Reign and Gaven and they were telling her about another convention coming up in December called Louisianime. She didn’t have internet though, so she was wondering if I could look for it for her. And since I put that link right there up, I’m gonna assume you all figured out that I found it =..= It turns out it’s May 8-10, 2009 at the Marriot in Baton Rouge….which is better time-wise, because she wants to cosplay as Seras Victoria from Hellsing. I still don’t know if I’ll be going…but it’d be more realistic if it’s next year and all. I’ve already taken off all the days I can this year.

….I think Reiko stole my cereal…But yeah! That was our Mecha Con Experience. I’m pretty certain that if I got next year, I’ll be reserving a suite for Thursday through Monday so that I can get there nice and easy and then leave whenever I want ^..^ I didn’t really do that much damage swag-wise either. I ended up with 4 hacky sacks that have cute anime-ish faces on them, my two Mokona’s (one white and one black), Volumes 6, 7, 8, 9 and 11 of W Juliet and Volumes 3, 5, and 6 of Kara Kano (there was a special...8 manga for $60 ^..^). Yayness. I now have absolutely no money =..= But Friday is payday. I shall be paying bills though so…yeah. I’m keeping it simple for the next couple of weeks. Luckily, I don’t kneed much.

I guess that’s all for now. Later, Sunshines!

Of Madness and Methods

2008-Jul-17, Thursday 09:10 am
msmoon: (Voices)

What a week. Saturday night I got a call from Mom saying that a dachshund breeder at our church had told her that she had a puppy that she wanted to sell me for $200. So, Sunday I went and picked up my new puppy (Vernon) and immediately took him to PetSmart to buy what I’d need to take care of him. Monday night, after working a 10-hour day to come home and find Vernon had peed everywhere and was miserable all day without me, I quietly did some math, called my mom and then called the breeder and brought Vernon back. I knew it’d be hard to adapt to having a new puppy and all, but I thought I could manage it. But I realized after working 10 hours a day, even with a day off in the middle and all, I’d be exhausted and wanting to run errands and just relax, and if I had a puppy, I’d have to give myself full-time to training and being with the puppy. It was just too much to ask, not only of myself but for the puppy’s sake, I decided to do the responsible thing, and take him back. It would just be way too selfish of me to try to keep him and struggle so much when he could be with a family with kids that love him all the time and can devote so much time to him.

Funny thing, the breeder said she liked the name Vernon, and she’d continue to call him that since it was such a unique name. The name means “Grove of Alders” or “Flourishing”…but, the only reason I picked it was because I loved the old Ernest movies and I wanted to be able to say “Know what I mean, Vern?” ^..^ After brining Vern back to the breeder, I cried pretty much all the way home...let’s face it, puppies just pull at our heart-strings and I was very let-down at the realization that I couldn’t afford to have a dog at this point in my life. But after all that, I went to bed and woke up the next morning feeling better.

Oh, I got to see Enchanted finally. That’s another movie I’ll have to write a review on…there’s quite a few on the list now, isn’t there? Let’s see...I haven’t reviewed, Get Smart, Phenomena, Wall-E, The Incredible Hulk, Hancock, and now Enchanted. Geeze. I’m so far behind. I’m gonna have to do something about that.

Oh, speaking of movies. I discovered Yahoo movies the other day. I spend an hour or so adding movies to lists and rating them. That was interesting...I’m sure I’ll be about as obsessive with it as I am with my IMDB profile and all.

Yesterday was my day off too, but I ended up heading over to work anyway. I was out in town taking care of a few things, and I called G up and asked, “Who needs a snowball?” She replied with “You’re an angel...” which I assumed meant they’d been through quite a lot. This was around 2:15 in the afternoon of course. I took her and Dena’s order for their snowballs and popped on by. Sure enough, they were the only ones there and the phones had kept them hopping. I hung around, but only to sip snow balls with them and help out a bit.

Church was fun last night. I was introduce to the concept of Carpet Ball, because they have it set up in our class room (kids church) and my class-mates and teacher demanded to play it. After a fun hour of heckling Bro. Joe (the wonderful ADHD teacher), I was invited to Big Eddies, a nearby restaurant. I went with Daniel, his mom and two other ladies from the singles group and all we did was have coffee and talk, but it was a lot of fun.

I decided to go ahead and have a movie-night on a Saturday (the 26th). I posted a bulletin about it on MySpace, but I don’t know how many people pay attention to those bulletins. I know Misty and Celeste do, but a few of the other people I’m friends with don’t seem too interested in it. So I just went about posting comments as invites. The people that don’t have MySpace I invited last night when I saw them at church. The only real confirmation I have is Celeste (who may or may not be bringing her hubby Ryan)…Daniel said he might be off that day, but that’s not really a confirmation or anything. I have decided that I won’t be ordering pizza till people actually show up. I had a whole mess of pizza in my fridge for days because of the last time =..= I like pizza and all, but after a while of eating old pizza…it gets…well, old. I need to delete the old list of movies I have on my MySpace blog and post the newest list…just because I’m OCD like that =..=

Oh, I finally got the last two volumes of Alice 19th in yesterday. So I’m done collecting that series. I want to try and get as much of Furuba and W Juliet as I can now...I’m thinking maybe…one or two volumes per check. I should probably try to get all of W Juliet and The Devil Does Exist beings as all of those are actually available. There are still a couple of volumes of Furuba that aren’t even out yet. So...yeah. Maybe I could just buy one of each manga each check. I’d get them all, just …slowly. /sigh. Or I could just buy up as many of WJ and DDE as I can per check and eventually move on to Furuba whenever I’m done with those two…decisions, decisions =..=

I am so sleepy now...so I shall get back to work. Later, Sunshines.

Weekend Washout...

2007-Nov-26, Monday 02:04 pm
msmoon: (BC - You gotta be kidding)
26 years old…That’s how old the pipes to my hot water heater are. You know the biggest problem with fixing something that old is? At least for my Dad. You never can just take stuff apart and put it back together, expecting it to work better than it did when you hadn’t touched it. I spent most of Friday afternoon, helping Dad mop up in the back room and hastily moving everything as far away from the hot water heater as I could. Then, once Dad had “fixed” it, I came to survey everything. “Do you hear something?” I asked. The pipes inside the wall were leaking =..= So, Dad had to pull a part of the outside paneling off to tend to those pipes. Now he’s saying he’s going to replace those pipes. So, that’s what he’s doing today…replacing pipes =..=

Then, Saturday night, don’t ask me how this happened because I’ve no idea. But, I was trying to jump up and swat something off of my lights that were hanging from my beams. Well, I don’t know how it happened but I hurt my left shoulder. I mean…bad. There was no comfortable position to favor it in, it was just serious pain. Well, I’ve sorta resolved that it’s going to hurt and if it doesn’t get better by morning I’ll have to talk to Mom and Dad about going to a doctor or something. Anyway. I went to lie down in bed and read a bit. Then after a while, I realized I needed to get something downstairs...so I roll out of bed….and accidentally slam my (hurt) shoulder against the wall. It was like a huge bruise and it nearly brought tears to my eyes. But then, I rotated my shoulder…and it felt fine. It felt great! I was so happy because the pain was gone!...and then I was like. ..”….wha? O..o’” when I talked it over with my Dad, he said I probably popped my shoulder out of socket and ramming into the wall put it back into place…I told Scamp about it and she agreed, to which I crowed “I’m Xena!”

Oh yeah, I went to Scamp’s yesterday (Sunday). I figured, I probably wouldn’t feel up to driving over there Wednesday (on her actual Birthday) to give her her presents, so it’s be better if I just went down early. I took the camera and recorded her opening her gifts, which she loved. We (Dad and I) couldn’t stay for too long, but we did manage to stay for a little while and talk. But then it was back home. We drove over there, and all the way it rained terribly. The way back wasn’t too bad, but it wasn’t clear either.

And over my lunch break, I spent the time revising my Manga Wish List. I only have 2 pages of Manga up there, but it occurred to me that both The Devil Does Exist and W Juliet have been completed, so I could add all of them and put them in order on my wish list. Of course that made me check to see how many Fruits Basket editions were available and putting them up there and in order. Along with placing the two most important sets Return to Labyrinth and Alice 19th at the very beginning of the list. I already own the first 4 volumes of Alice 19th, 3 volumes of Fruits Basket, and 2 volumes of the Devil Does Exist. I really need to get W Juliet...and buy all of that and DDE. /sigh. There’s lots of stuff I need to do, it seems. I should probably tell my parents to just get me a gift certificate to Amazon for Christmas =..= That I will definitely go to good use.

Ohh…lunch break is almost over…I hurt. My back hasn’t been letting me sit easily. I think it might be this stupid chair. It’d figure. Oh well. Back to work I go. Later, Sunshies.

You Are Christmas

More than most people, you are able to find magic in life's small moments.

Traditions mean a lot to you, and you tend to be quite nostalgic.

You are a giving, kind person who really understands the true meaning of holidays.

You inspire others to be as altruistic and caring as you are.

What makes you celebrate: Tradition and a generous spirit

At holiday get togethers, you do best as: The storyteller. You like to recount memories with everyone.

On a holiday, you're the one most likely to: Give a gift to everyone you know

Yes I am! My chibi-Christmas Tree is already up and decorated! I cannot wait to decorate the rest of my house/livingroom! Though I have a feeling Mom may resent me for never participating in decorating for Christmas back when I was at her house =..='

Harvest Moon

msmoon: (Supernatural - no good)
Dammit. My cousin gets to stay home and sleep through this glorious weather. Life is so not fair.

Last night, Scamp and I got to see 300! It was so good! I’m a little hesitant to rant and rave about it, if only because I don’t want to give things away. I lost a lot of shock-and-awe factor after one of my friends ranted about Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest and I saw “OMG, Barbosa!” in her rant, and kinda wasn’t too surprised to see Barbosa and noticed his boots in the Voodoo woman’s thing (because, in fact I was looking for him). But this was just an awesome movie. My coworkers asked about it this morning, and they asked if it was gory, and to be honest...gore doesn’t bother me (Al Gore, sure, but not movie gore). What bothers me is nudity and sex scenes, both of which were in this movie. But that’s why God invented Fast Forward. And thankfully the scenes weren’t too lengthy. I always feel like intimacy is something that’s personal and private, so having it public kind of takes away from the whole ‘intimacy’ thing =.= But, every other part of the movie was greatness in itself.

Scamp and I had a regular Geeks Night out. First we headed to Burger King to eat, and that was interesting. It was nearly empty when we walked in, and these guys walked in after us. I wasn’t paying attention to them really (if it’d been Vin Diesel or Orlando Bloom, then I would’ve paid attention, but it was not). When we sat down and started eating Scamp asked if I’d heard what they were talking about and I was like, no I wasn’t really paying attention. She said that they said something along the lines of, “That’s the biggest asses I’ve seen on a white girl. Wouldn’t mind tapping that.” ...I told my coworkers about it and they were like “Gee, how romantic.” I told them that the guys probably didn’t count on Scamp’s elvish hearing ^.^ Then we went over to Books A Million. /looks around as angels start to sing. Hmmm. Yeah, so we looked around in the Manga and D&D books. Then we headed over to the journals (which was probably a mistake). I ended up buying the D&D Player’s Handbook for myself and the Warcraft manga/comic/graphic novel/whatever. I got Scamp the Godchild manga and a leather journal...with slot for a pen and these nice dark brown pages. It was prettiful. Although Scamp was a bit shocked that I got it for her. I just enjoy getting gifts for people, especially when I have the means to do so. And besides, I couldn’t walk in there and get something for myself without getting something for her. That’d been unfair.

After that we saw the movie and Scamp exhausted me with her giddy chatter all the way home. We noticed that the “Check Engine” light was on in my car...Of course, Dad’s never really shown me how to check my oil or engine or anything else, so I’m like “Ok, now what?” Every time it’s time to check the oil, I tell him to wait and show me what to do, and what does he do? Either he forgets entirely (like this time) or he just does it without me. Honestly. I’m gonna call Mom on my lunch break and tell her what’s up, then I’ll call my Paran (who works on cars and owns a shop) and ask if there’s any time I can bring the car over since Dad isn’t in town. I don’t see any other options really.

So far….that is all that there is to talk about. So that’s all for this post. I’ll check in with you later, sunshines. Ja!

You Are a Little Messy

You aren't the cleanest person in the world, but you're definitely not a slob.
You clean up when you have the time, but you're realistic about what you can get done.
Generally, you're pretty organized and tidy - though you may have a few hidden messes.
You eventually get around to making things spotless, but you do it on your own schedule!

Hmmm...I think I need to retake this quiz =.=

My good friends, if you have not voted on LJ Idol this week, I strongly recommend that you check the poll…and vote for me while you’re at it ^.^

Thanks for your support!

Anywho...man. This LJ Idol stuff kinda takes it outta ya. I mean...I spend the first half of my week agonizing over what I’m gonna write. It’s weird. It’s weird having deadlines on my writing/creativity O.o Makes me wonder if I’d actually be able to do it professionally =.=

Plenty’s been going on. My dear cousin, Scamp, came down with a combination of Bronchitus and salmonella poisoning. That’s right, she had that nasty dinosaur-ridden peanut butter (“Kid’s voice: I think salmonella is a type of dinosaur..” Sha.) She had an upset stomach one day and had peanut butter on toast to settle her stomach =.= Only several days after eating this peanut butter did she hear on the news that all peanut butter with the first numbers “211” on them were recalled because of salmonella poisoning. That’s when the whole sickness thing came to light. SO …she is now recovering from that, although last I heard the bronchitis had gotten beater. Man…she just couldn’t get one sickness. Oh no! She’s too special for that. Damn over achiever issues.

What else is there? Oh, not that much of anything but, on Warcraft, I deleted almost all of my Hoard characters on Icecrown, deciding that Icecrown would be my Alliance server. So Bonnianne (human mage), Qiralyn (Nigh elf Druid), Dolithiel (Draenei Shaman), and Leikra (Dwarf Paladin) are all on Icecrown still. Jezeth (Troll Hunter) is still there temporarily...till I can work up the money to have her switched to Sentinels. Sentinels is where I have my Hoard characters. So far, I have Yaviel (Blood Elf Warlock), Yalisilwen (Blood Elf Hunter), and Suzii (Tauren Warrior) on Sentinels. Although, I haven’t gotten the chance to actually play Suzii much =.= I gotta admit...I’m not that into Warriors...I only made her as a Warrior because she’s got Druid, Shaman, Hunter and Warrior as her only options; and dammit! I want a Tauren! They’re…cool…..even if I can’t figure out a way to make such a character interesting…I’m just very warily of making her a hunter, because then that’ll be 3 hunters. Some might say having two hunters is like having the same thing. Oh, no my friends. Having a Troll hunter and a Blood elf hunter are two very different things. But, having a Troll hunter and a Tauren hunter might be very similar. So I’m staying away from that class...even though I do love the Hunter class. So, it was either Druid, Shaman or Warrior and I thought, “hmm…never really played as a warrior…*shrug*”.

Another thing I’d been wanting to do was make some sort of RPG icon for LJ, but have it with my old characters from EQ and my newer characters from WoW..like a moving Giff. Only for some reason, LJ never liked the giffs I made before when I had working corel draw and now that it’s busted I’m sorta stuck. It keeps “Unable to create a DOM document. Class not registered. Verify that MSXML4 is installed”. So I’m prowling the internet for that, even though I’m not sure what I’m doing O.o’ I’m trying the Windows site now…let’s hope that helps. (It’s what it’s there for right?)

Also, I finally ordered something from Amazon.com. Well, a few somethings actually. I figured, I haven’t ordered in a while, I’ve been watching my money like a good little girl, and I got a nice refund from the tax people just recently, so it’s ok to actually get something for myself. Plus pay-day is this Friday, and I did so good between pay-days that I had lots of cash in the bank still. I’ve been meaning to expand my (nearly nonexistent) Manga collection for some time now. I have something like 3 or 4 series up on my Manga wish list, and I’ve yet to start acquiring any of them. So I bought the first and second volumes of Fruits Basket; one of my favorite animes every. Before this anime came along, I had no idea there was such a thing as genki angst. Then I also go a DVD called The Greatest Journeys on Earth - Japan: Journeys on the Tokaido, because while I do enjoy reading, if it comes to something such as learning, I can’t learn very well from reading. Now, if it’s on the History channel or Animal Planet or the Discovery channel...it stays in my brain for years. So buying documentaries on stuff I think is cool works. I also go I’m not Dead by Pink...just because ^___^

…….I think that’s it for me. I’m gonna give a slight ‘Mouto-chan update. Chibi is still doing very well at college in Arkansas. She said that this semester is much easier than the others (though by no means easy) and she’s allowed a bit of a social life. She also said that she’d be coming down for …something…not Spring Break but something else that they have, and it’d be around May-ish. Then she probably wouldn’t be down till Christmas break, which really works because Scamp and I might actually be moved into the Nexus by then and we could have our Christmas celebration there! Coolness! On the Reiko front, things have been fun. Reiko called me Wednesday (I think it was…) and asked if I planed to live with my parents forever…like I’ve got the word “Looser” tattooed on my back or something. It’s not what she said, but how she said it. I informed her that Scamp and I would be moving in the Nexus later in the year. Turns out she’s looking at buying a house in Hammond because it’s closer to the school she needs to go to, and she can buy one at auction cheap from the state. Of course, she’d looked to me as a potential room mate…but that was till she realized I’d have my own house. She also has a new pet rat (her rats are cute guys…seriously. Stop making those faces! They’re really sweet!). Her first pet rat is Milo…he’s kind of this off grayish rat…maybe white with grey tips or something. Anyway, he’s pretty big, and she has her grey cat Chimera (after the band), and Pet Smart (where she works) gave her another rat, because it’s tail is stubbed off and no one wants it. She’s a lot smaller than Milo and she’s dark brown (mouse brown ^.^). She said that she wants to mate the female to Milo later once she’s matured. She asked me what I thought she should name it, and I told her to name her “Joyce”. For you Milo & Otis fans out there, I’m sure you know why ^____^…oddly enough it feels like my ‘Mouto-chans are moving far, far away from me….s’a good thing Scamp’s moving in soon. Otherwise, I’d feel abandoned or something =.=

Eureka! Corel is now working! I just needed to download something from the windows site and I’m good! Thank goodness.

Well, my sleeping meds are kicking in. I’ll be logging off, sunshines. But here’s a nice bout of Sunday Quizzes for you…

Beware, for I am: Image hosted by Photobucket.com Tired

Today seemed to go by so slowly...it’s probably because it marks the beginning of the weekend and lazy days as I know them. Although the fact that I had virtually nothing to do at work didn’t help things very much. I mean, I only had one thing to do today and I’d already done most of it. Oh, no, wait, I had two things to do. But that other one was so simple, it didn’t make a blip on my ‘to-do’ radar. And the second thing I had to do was over half way done, I just had to wait for our accountant to hurry up and get me the right numbers.

Also, my internal/external company e-mail was set up along with everything else I requested from the computer tech guy. Then he left for Disneyworld. Lucky Bastard. The rest of us are stuck here with all the crazy people. Mardi Gras really brings out the terminally insane among us down here for some reason. If you ask the older people, they’ll tell you that Mardi Gras used to be about family. You got together with family and bar-b-qued and had fun and celebrated. Now it’s about getting drunk and who can flash more people and get better beads. It makes me sick.

On a better note; I finished the next chapter in the EQ Saga today. That’s right. I have now hit 6,300 words, which is just over the 5,000 minimum, thereby qualifying as a chapter. Now all I have to do is proof read and edit it and I’ll be done. It’s not due to go up till the 5th of March though, so I have some time. I figure, I’ll go over it once this weekend and then I’ll keep going over it on my lunch hours when I’m at work. I’ll figure it out.

Reiko loaned me Arashi no Ceres to watch along with some manga that I haven’t seen. Now, usually I enjoy any new anime that I can get my hands on, but this series isn’t working for me. It doesn’t help that Reiko bought it boot-leg from Hong Kong. I mean, the translation sucks (if it’s there at all), they get their names all weird (The fairy who’s name is Ceres they keep translating to Louise. Waterfalls is that?), and to top it all off the box set itself is falling apart. Not to mention the over use of love triangles, unrequited love, angst, and bloody miserable death. I keep telling myself that if the translation were better, I’d probably like it more. But then I look at the actual content, and I don’t like it. I mean it’s just too much blood, violence, and angst. Three things that I never like too much of in any situation. It also doesn’t help that Reiko ‘misplaced’ the third DVD and I couldn’t see the ending even if I wanted to.

The Manga that she loaned me is the first volume of Qwan, volumes 1 and 2 of Chobits, and volumes 1 2 and 3 of Vampire Game. The only one that I’ve started so far is Chobits and I’m not really that crazy about it. Yeah, the girl’s cute and sweet, but the whole thing’s just really really really perverted. Honestly. I think I’ll take a break from that to focus on the other two series to get an unbiased opinion of them.

Speaking of Reiko, her birthday is coming soon. I already have my present to her ready and all. Though, I do fully intend to call her up on March 8th and whisper over the phone “Seven Days” (her brithday’s on the 15th for all of those that don’t see any logic in that). That should show that I am actually keeping track and that will make her feel special.

Speaking of ‘Moto-chans, I’m gonna try and write to Chibi some time this weekend. If I don’t make the effort now, I may never do it. I can’t just say I’m busy with work or that I’m tired. Those excuses don’t work. In real life, you make time for what you love and you can quote me on that!

Allright. It’s late, I’m tired, I fully intend to sleep in tomorrow, and I wanna get a head start. Right now!

Wings
If you were an anime character the first thing
people would recognize about you would be your
wings. Having wings as your primary
distinguishing feature shows that you are
someone who holds to your beliefs (whatever
they may be) and yet, you are not afraid of
change either. You are a thoughtful person
with a tendency to see beyond what most people
perceive, and are quite open-minded towards new
and unusual ideas. Most likely you are quiet
and unobtrusive, especially in unfamiliar
situations, because you prefer to observe.

OK, it’s about time I post about the anime Reiko gave me. OMG, I love manga. I could read it every day, and not get bored. This time around, Reiko loaned me the first volume of The Devil Does Exist and the first two volumes of MeruPuri. I love the drama and playful nature in Devil Does Exist, and I love the whimsy and sheer sweetness of MeruPuri. As I’ve now added them to the Anime & Manga section of my wish list, I will now add tags for them as well (it’s only fair since I have tags for anime and Alice 19th). I’d go back and see which entry it is that I talked about Wallflower and W Juliet, but...I’m tired right now from the reading and I don’t really feel like it. Maybe some other time though.

Other than that, not much has happened today...or at least not much worth mentioning. I did manage to get the Pick a Character section updated on the web site, though I doubt anyone actually noticed. I switched out the imaged of just the characters’ faces and put in roll-over images with their description pictures in front; so you actually know the name of the person you’re clicking on and then it rolls over to show you their face. Making those description thingies took a while, and it’s the first chance I’ve had to just put colors on an image and then play around with them with effects and such to produce something really cool. I figured I might as well show case the suckers as much as I possibly could.

I’m mind-numbingly tired, and yet I feel a strange urge to write stuff...and my mind is rebelling against the urge. Conflict. Damn. Oh well. I’ll figure something out. Later.

And here I am...huge headache, and I’m still on this machine. No offense to AMOS of course. But the headache’s my fault, I shouldn’t have read so much Alice 19th all in one sitting. It’s bad for the eyes...especially in bad lighting. Oh well.

Things that I did today...what did I do today, other than that post earlier? Oh. I went to town with Dad and did grocery shopping since Mom’s still out of it with a killer headache. Not too bad. We spent less than $100 and more than $50. Average. Came home and typed up a bunch of stuff that had been previously written in notebooks. I did get a lot done, but afterwards I came into a bout of ‘Oh, this is no good, I don’t have the other hard drive, I can’t finish all the work, etc etc’ and that made me frustrated and bored with it all. So I stopped for a while and watched TV and read and all that.

That’s when I started reading over Alice 19th again. I guess I’m just hoping that I somehow memorize all of it before I have to give it up. It’s such a great manga though…One of these days, I’ll buy it. But anyway.

Now, I have showered and I’m going to bed. Goodnight.

Yo. A few good things happened today. For one, they finally paved the road. Also, I received the Sailor Stars box set that I ordered on the 11th.

Also, when I finally finished my chores and Mom came home, we went to town for a smoothie. I got the Hulk that I like so much (even though it really isn’t good for me), and then we went to Books a Million. I finally bought the second volume of Kara Kano (also known as His and Her Circumstances). I love the anime and when Reiko found out she bought me the first volume of the manga. We then came home and I watched Home Edition with Mom.

Don’t know why, but I’ve been feeling extremely tired all day...and not just tired, it’s like a feeling of heaviness. Like I’m weary from something. I spent most of the evening watching Sailor Stars, and checking e-mail. But it’s like I can’t keep my focus on anything. I get bored with everything. Ah well.

I finally uploaded those pictures from Black&White 2.

I guess that’s all I have for tonight. I shall now put myself out of my misery. Goodnight.

I’ve finally managed to compile a few pics of my time in Black&White 2. There are only 4 of the, but I enjoyed them. Here they are for your amusement.

Pillow Makin' ain't easy!

Mood: Image hosted by Photobucket.com Tired

Ah…what a day. Woke up around 10 (actually it was exactly 10 ‘cause my Dad wouldn’t let me sleep any more). I ate breakfast, and then got ready, and Dad and I went to Wally-World to ring up near-to $120 in groceries and what-have-you. I bought two different types of batting for Mom’s pillows. The smaller pillows are filled with that polly-fill micro beads stuff (the stuff they put in those little pillows that are supposed to be so good for your neck). And the big one is stuffed with normal batting. We also got a bunch of other stuff; mostly stuff that we needed but some things…well, you know.

When we did get home, Dad checked stocks and e-mail, played a game, and then went out to finish the ditch digging he’d started earlier this week. I on the other hand, stayed in and got to work on finishing my pillows. I believe I sat down around 3 p.m. and I did not get up till 6:30. My eyes and back and neck were killing me. But the project was nearly finished. Dad helped me get the micro-beads into the small pillows…What a mess! Those little beads are nearly weightless, and they stick to anything! They frikkin’ defy gravity! We had them everywhere! But finally the little pillows were filled, and I still had a medium sized zip lock bag full of micro beads. If I ever have another small pillow I need to fill, I will certainly use them…but with a decided amount of caution.

I took a small break from the whole process as Dad stuffed the larger pillow. We watched Myth busters. Now, admittedly I’m not a huge fan of explosions and a superior show of power; but, even I must admit, when they finally got those two semis to slam into each other, it was soooo cool! Tonight’s episode (for those who don’t regularly watch), circled around myths about vodka and the ‘compact compact’ myth. There were 2 vodka myths that I caught. One was that vodka could cure foot odder, and the other was that vodka when mixed with cinnamon and left for a while made a suitable mouthwash. Those two myths were proven accurate. The next myth was called the Compact Compact Myth. It stated that there was a compact car that got caught between to semi 18-wheelers that collided (a semi on either side of the compact car). And somehow, the semi trucks welded together, and the compact car was flattened to pancake status between them, virtually invisible. The last myth was proven false…but it totally rocked to see those two 18-wheelers collide head on into each other! Although I don’t always watch Myth Busters, I could see how it would be very entertaining.

Then the Discovery channel did that thing about the hurricanes of 2005. That was a bit enlightening and a bit disturbing. But overall, I think it focused more on the scientific affects of the hurricanes as opposed to the impact on humans in their area. It seemed like (from the previews) they would show a lot of the victims of the hurricanes…give them a voice, as it were; but, it did more to explain the why and how of hurricanes. It was very informing, make no mistake. I just assumed it would show a lot more of the damage on human lives. /shrug.

Then I finished showering, and I read the next volume (Vol. 5) of Alice 19th. God, I love that manga. I will (eventually) own it as well, but I’m just so soaking it up. I love the fact that the story is mostly about the power of words and the effect they have. I think people should really focus on their words a lot more. However, I have promised to pace myself when it comes to this manga. I will not read more than one manga a night. So, after I finished with this volume, I calmly put it down and logged onto here. /grin. There are only 7 volumes anyway.

I have now checked e-mail and posted here. Also, I have uploaded the pictures of Mom’s pillows for all to see.

Ja! )

And now it’s off to bed. Oh…I think I hear it raining…or maybe it’s just the wind. Oh well. Goodnight!

Quiet time with Reiko

Yo. Today was another day. Got up early (8:00 a.m. to be precise), and went to the gyno-sauris. Got three months worth of birth control and I think 8 refills, but I can’t take them till I’ve had my next cycle...otherwise ‘it’ll screw everything up’ as the doctor so eloquently put it.

I then went and got lunch for Dad and myself. Chicken Cordon Blue sandwiches from Rally’s (You gotta eat!).

Then, Reiko called me…surprise of surprises. She really needed a shoulder to cry on…she’s been going through a lot lately, and she just needed a place ‘retreat’ to. So, my place is about as ‘neutral grounds’ as you can get. She hung out and played on the computer while I sewed up Mom’s Christmas present. It was fun. Neither of us really felt under pressure to talk to the other, and we only really did when we really wanted to.

Pictures! Don’t worry there aren’t too many -.- )

And that was my day. I then rode with Reiko to go and retrieve my car from her house (she’s practicing her driving). And then I borrowed her Alice 19th manga, as she now has it all. I then played Black&White 2 a little, and then I caught up on where I left off in Alice 19th. God, I love that manga…

Oh well. I guess that’s all for tonight. Goodnight!…I sure hope I sleep late tomorrow…

Manga Reviews with MM

Yo. Today was ok I guess. A little disappointing. Brian told me the only thing I really need to get my hard drive into AMOS is a ’shell’ for the hard drive. Evidently the people who made the computer made places and stuff to hook into other hard drives…but they never made things for those hard drives to slide into or rest on.

Well, after Sunday school, Mom, Dad, I and Aunt Batty went out to eat at Western Sizzlin’, then we went home (had terrible reaction to food [don’t ask]), and then we got in our comfortable clothes and headed for Circuit City. Turns out, they don’t have any of those frames at the moment, so the guy was like,

“You could buy this USB 2.0 thingy here. It goes over your hard drive and then plugs into a USB port. It’s much easier than installing another hard drive!”

So, me wanting to resolve the issue quickly, went ahead and bought the thing. I figured, it might be easier and it would make the second hard drive portable. Well, we got home, and I used the (poorly written) instructions to figure out how to hook it up…nothing happened. I tried again. Nothing happened. I tried hooking it up to Irene, nothing happened. So, I then calmly gave up and put everything back in the box (minus my hard drive of course) and started reading the rest of the manga Reiko loaned me.

Oh yes, the manga. My thoughts on the manga series that Reiko loaned me are as follows:

W Juliet. OMG, I love this manga! If they ever make this into a anime, I will be buying it (if I have money of course =.=). It’s just funny, and quirky, and romantic, and sweet, and hilarious, and really smart! It’s better than

His and Her Circumstances and I only have the first manga of that! I really must speak with Chibi-chan about manga more often. I mean I love it, I just never shop for it or look around at it.

The Wallflower. Ok…I’m still not sure about this one…the guys in it…are totally freaky if you ask me. Some guys can pull off androgynism and look great!…others…I dunno. I think it’s something about the way they draw their lips…Also, I don’t much like that the main character girl (Sunako-chan) spends most of her time in chibi-form. Chibi-form is cute. But when the character begins to look like a chibi all the time, and only normal when she’s angry or determined or just when they need her too, is a little aggravating. I’ll admit, it is entertaining…but it’s also infuriating to a point.

Ok, that’s all I have to say about that. I think I shall now go and shower. I have to be up and looking for jobs tomorrow (/sarcasim. yay). Later.

MINSTREL

You are the Minstrel, the
artistic and introspective personalitys in
fantasy. Minstrels can range from court bards
to wandering performers willing to play their
instruments or sing in any inn they come upon
just to earn some money. Minstrels are very
creative and are naturally artistic. They are
often deep, quiet, and philosophical. Their
thoughts and ideas can be very profound.
Minstrels usually have a way with words or
music. These artists see the beauty around us
or delve within themselves and produce
something new that is truly
wonderful.

Yo. The things that happened today…:

1) Got surprised by Dad coming in early today.
2) Got Mom and Dad’s e-mail accounts onto my ‘Visitor’ name. They can now check their e-mails.
3) Set up Mom and Dad’s list of favorites.
4) Started Watching Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring
5) Got interrupted by Reiko. She came over.
6) Showed Reiko my new computer. Let her play Achaea for a little while.
7) Went to a local snow ball stand with Reiko.
8) Started watching Red vs. Blue season 3 with Reiko
9) Read over the first book in the W Juliet manga series.
10) Noticed Reiko was asleep
11) Woke Reiko up
12) Came home after leaving Reiko at her house.

That’s the day. For some reason, Reiko cannot stop herself from falling asleep when we watch the third season of Red vs Blue…maybe it’s cause she’s always watching it on my bed…she has said that it’s very comfy. Oh well. None of this seems the same without Chibi…

I would just like to mention that I’ve gotten 2 fan mails in this week from the EQ Characters Stories, and it feels really good. However, having my stories and writings and ideas on a hard drive that I can’t even access..feels really really bad! It’s like, I feel like I can’t even continue writing because I can’t remember everything that I’ve written and I can’t access it either! I just keep reminding myself that I’ll be able to talk to Brian tomorrow. /sigh of relief

Other than that, I shall now eat, take pills and continue reading the mango Reiko so graciously loaned me till I become sleepy. Goodnight.
