War With the Flies

2009-Jul-08, Wednesday 05:08 pm
msmoon: (RVB - Red Bull)

Alas, I have had a buggy little problem in my house. For the past few weeks, there have been a number of fruit flies and just common house flies in my house. Now... I'm generally a laid-back sort of person. A fly or two doesn't really bother me. As long as they leave me alone, I'm fine. Unfortunately, this became more than a fly or two very quickly AND they constantly buzzed about me. It seemed like over-night, I had 3 dozen flies in my house. And that's just the house flies, not the fruit flies. I cannot begin to count their number. I mentioned it to Dad, and I got some pesticide spray.

Dad said that around the back of their house they had the same problem. Well, the garbage had begun to pile up, and when Dad went to burn what he could, he found a bunch of maggots in the garbage can.... XP OMG, so nasty. So, evidently, the flies were just gathering around their back yard where the garbage cans were, and since my house is (technically) in their backyard, they just decided to come on over. Spraying the pesticide on the walls and outside my house has not helped. So, this past weekend (while I was feeling crapy with my leg hurting and all anyway) I decided to keep the spray handy......I ended up pretty much declaring war on the flies. I put the pesticide squirt nozzle on the direct spray, so that it shoots out a single line of liquid as opposed to a poof cloud spray. Every time I saw one, I ended up cornering it and just sprayed till I'd knocked the sucker into a puddle of pesticide. I'm very happy to report that my house is virtually fly free. There's an odd one here or there in rooms I don't go in that often, but over-all N2 has no flies in it right now :)

The only down-side is that I can only spray pesticide for so long without hacking my lungs out. Too much of it in one room makes my throat and nose itch like crazy >..< So, I try to limit the amount I spray... When the house was over-run with them, I was terribly miserable. Now, it's not so bad since I only see one odd fly now and then. But now, I'm not so relaxed about it. Used to, if I saw a fly, I'd just let it be. But after this entire ordeal, one fly means I'm off to fetch the pesticide -..- The annoying little buggers aren't even smart enough to leave me alone, and an annoying pest is about as bad as one that bites or stings.

Oh, and Mom and Dad are away now. Dad got called out early Monday... well, to be precise, he called his company asking when they wanted him, and they said "a day earlier than usual". He'll be towing the rig this hitch, so he may be out for anywhere between 14 to 37 days @..@ And since he had to leave Monday at noon, and he didn't get any sleep before hand, and since Mom's older sister (Aunt Audrey) has been having serious heart trouble in the way of multiple heart attacks, Mom decided to accompany him and drive back up after Aunt Audrey's surgery. So, I'm left to hold down the fort while they're gone. All I really have to do is burn my own trash, collect their mail, watch out for Aunt Carolyn's mail and cut the grass at some point.... fun.

Oh, yesterday was my day with Alicia. She pretty much comes over every Tuesday now. We were checking to see places we could visit in Branson... of course it was a great excuse just to go to Branson and map the place out for me. Alicia wanted to go to Staples too, and I've actually never been to a Staples. But, I'm getting ahead of myself.

I had an appointment with the chiropractor yesterday at 3, so Alicia came over early, but accompanied me to the chiropractor (with a small assortment of the first volumes of my manga collection). I told the doctor about how I injured my knee Friday, and she checked it and said my ankle and knee were out of alignment because of it. So she adjusted it too and told me to ice it as well as my lower back (20 minutes on the ice pack and 2 hours off). After that, we went straight to Branson.

On the way there, Alicia got really hungry....and I started getting hungry too. We had planned on stopping at Applebee's to get a to-go menu (turns out they didn't even have any at the time -..-), so we just decided to have lunch there. They still had that 2 meals for $20 deal, so we went ahead and did that. Then we went to Staples, and I found some of those
Soney Earbuds that Takara had showed me at the Lock-In. They fit really easily into the ear, and unlike the original earbuds I had, they don't hurt. Oh, and they were only $9.99, soooo I got them :) We also went to K-Mart, but that was because Alicia said that her mom needed some loafers and ... she wanted to buy them for her... I dunno. Whatever.

Uhhh, then we went to the theater to check and see if they had the times that Transformers 2 would be playing for this Saturday... they only replied that the Imax had it... which really didn't help us much. I told Alicia that I knew the Imax's web site said they wouldn't be playing Transformers 2 after the 9th, so I'd call this little cinema on the 10th and ask if they were having it then. Over-all, we'll have to see, otherwise our trip to Branson will be ...underwhelming at best. After that we were a bit bummed so we went to Best Buy, and I found
Tall Tale on DVD. I was so excited, because I loved this movie when I was young, and it didn't seem like it'd ever come out on DVD. And there it was... for $6.99! So... of course, I got it =..=' And Best Buy was right next to Books-A-Million ... so, no surprise where we went next. I ended up buying this enormous book on Mythology called Mythology: Myths, Legends, & Fantasies. It's massive and I probably paid entirely too much for it... and I love it :3 Of course, this thing is so comprehensive, I may never need another book or reference on mythology EVER. In the back, there's an index for referencing individual things, but there's also a section that breaks down each section and says "For Further Reading" and tells you many books that you can get if you want to focus solely on one thing. It's huge o..o

After that, Alicia and I came home... although it took her a while to adjust to manga reading, she did manage to finish the first volume of Furuba in the car on the way home while I rocked out. I've also managed to get her hooked on the Corrs and Nightwish... mwahaha :D But anyway! Then when we got home, and after we unpacked we finished watching Princess Mononoke. Miyazaki-san is so awesome. I think Alicia agrees :) I was actually surprised to learn that the english voice-actor that spoke for Moro... is Gillian Anderson, aka Scully o..o How many cool points can you earn? :D Anyway! After that, she went home and I showered and went to bed.

I really have been loafing about today...but I'm really tired and just content to so. I mean, I know I probably should've cut grass.... but, I can always do it later. Annnd now, I gotta go and get ready... gotta leave for church around 6:45 and my hair is riotous :3 I like getting ready early so that I can relax and not rush before I leave. So! I'm off. I'll type later, Sunshines :)

You Love Being Single

In general, you're very happy being single.

You like doing your own thing, and you're happy not to have to compromise.

You're not opposed to being attached, but you're not going to settle.

Someone else should your enhance your life, and you're happy to wait for that person.

P.S. Oh yeah! Today in 2002 I introduced Chibi and Reiko to one another :D So... happy anniversary, 'Mouto-chans!

9

2008-May-14, Wednesday 11:38 am
msmoon: (MM - Genki!!)

9, much like 11, is a number I like for my own quirky reasons. But 9 turned into a foreboding number yesterday. I got home from work and changed into something more comfortable, straightened up the living room a tad (Reiko was coming over) and then headed over to my parent’s house. Dad was supposed to spray my house, so I asked him if he found a wasp nest on the back of my house. He said, “No, I didn’t find a wasp nest, I found nine!” O..O’’’ Wow. So, yeah. That explains the wasp problem I’d been having in my house. Hopefully I won’t have to worry about it….well, I’m sure I won’t since Dad said he practically hosed down the backside of my house ^..^

Reiko dropped by around 6:15 yesterday afternoon. She showed me the trailers for the soon-to-be movie Twilight, based on the book. I seem to remember the book…at least, the cover of it…I think my Twin had told me it was awesome. So I was excited to see that a movie about it is coming out. Really should get those books before the movie comes out. She also dropped off The Pearls, which she said was amazing, and she’s upset that the next book in the series doesn’t come out till November. Then we watched Tin Man, or at least the first “episode”. She thought it was awesome and she said that was something her dad would love since he was a Wizard of Oz freak. She left around 9, so I didn’t get to shower till then.

It was pills, quick shower and then BED!!! For me. I slept so hard and so good. I swear it’s the best night’s sleep I’ve had for about 2 weeks. Unfortunately…I woke up at 7 O..O I leave for work at 7:30. So, in record time, I put on coffee, got dressed, straightened my hair, ate cereal and left. Well, I guess at least I know now that I can do that if I need to =..=

Oh, yeah, something else great happened yesterday! I did a random search for Invasion American DVDs because sometimes that stuff happens and I have no idea until much later. Well, I found this place called iOffer. I found all the 13 episodes on DVD available by this amazing seller, the store's called Lion-O’s Den, so of course she rocks (...at least I think it's a she O..o). She has some really great products up there for really good prices and they’re all in great quality. So I’m stoked. Not only did I get all of Invasion America (PS: there are 7 other copies of it if someone wants to get it too!) I also got all of Daria, which I’ve only ever seen the movies out. So I’m uber happy, even if I’m completely broke. It’s ok though; I get paid Friday. Hell, I would’ve bought it even if I had a week to wait for fresh money. I haven’t seen I.A. since it aired in ’98 and I am so excited to get it.

Speaking of things that are awesome, I’d totally forgotten it but I ordered THIS PEACE OF AWESOME a while back, and I finally got it in the other day! I wore it to work even (and since it was black shirt Tuesday, it actually matched). It’s much smaller than the one that he wears in the movie, but that’s good because it is made of metal and something that big would give me a headache. It’s perfect if you ask me.

…there are a lot of links in this post. But I’ve been so sick for so long, I haven’t felt like saying much and now, I have so much to say! But now I’m running out of things to say….tonight, since I’m actually feeling better, I’ll be at church. Ohh…I really must wear my new necklace ^..^ Mom’ll love that /sarcasm. Oh well. Harvest Moon

msmoon: (Eddie Izzard - Quoi?)
This afternoon, after coming in from work, I noticed some buzzing sound in my bathroom. I went in….and found 2 dying bees on the floor. I quickly squished them and moved on. I took my shower, I went in the living room and dried my hair. I heard a buzzing sound…but it sounded like a bee was stuck in the window or something, so I just figured I’d leave it alone. A hungry lizard would come along and get him eventually. Then I went into my computer room (after fixing my dinner) and started playing WoW with my cousin...

...After logging off and getting ready for bed, I went upstairs and found a bee on my billow. I thought “Son of e bee-yotch...” so I went back downstairs and grabbed a paper towel. I threw it over the bee, who was either dead or extraordinarily sleepy, and then crushed him and put him in my garbage. I sat on my bed and reached for my lotion on my beside table...

Harvest Moon

msmoon: (BC - You gotta be kidding)
I am in such a foul mood…I think it all has to do with being so tired, so I’m really just trying to shake it off, because I really want to enjoy myself tonight.

Last night, I go to take my medicine in the kitchen. And I look on the wall, and there are two bugs crawling on the wall……and I look farther up, and there are two more…and then I look at the ceiling…and there are a few more….so I roam around the kitchen looking up at the ceiling and I swear to you, we must’ve found at least two dozen of these things crawling around. Swarming termite season, anyone? >.< We knocked down so many, but they just kept coming out of crevices. It was weird. So, after sweeping the ceiling for 45 minutes, I finally tried to get to sleep, only to be kept up by the creepy-crawlies. I think I finally feel asleep around 1 =.= I’m so tired.

Tonight we’re supposed to go and see Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’ End. Lacey and I had planned on going, like, two months ago. Before she was even serving her last two weeks. So, at the beginning of the week, I went ahead and purchased 3 tickets (one for me, one for Scamp, and one for Mom), so that we could all go and see the movie together. Well, Scamp doesn’t want to go…and Mom isn’t feeling good. She wants to go, she just isn’t feeling great. And she’s cleaning her house like a mad woman, so it’s not letting her feel any better. So, I guess that isn’t helping my mood any. I e-mailed Lacey about the time of the movie and she agreed that it’d be best to go to the feature at 7. I also e-mailed her, encouraging her to buy her tickets online too…but we haven’t had the bests of e-mail communications. I’m not certain that she’s been getting them all.../shrugs I sent her another one this morning though.

God, I’m so tired. And I’m so tired of saying how tired I am all the time.

Giggly Post

msmoon: (Supernatural - no good)
This have been going great lately. My cousin is over visiting (Bogarting my Warcraft), and we’ve really just been enjoying one another’s company. Where as the times she visited before, we were always trying to cram in the movies and crap that we wanted to do together. Now, it’s a bit more relaxed...and that makes it fun.

Last night we got all giggly because Mom was craving a Moolate. So I made us all some moolates, and I guess we were just a little high of the sugar rush. We’re laughing as she’s trying to drink her moolate, and she says “Would you stop making me laugh, I’m trying to suck.” And we looked at each other and smirked. And I said, “It’s much bigger when you see it up close...” and that sent us into all out gales of laughter.

We also took turns playing Warcraft. I showed her how to get to the Undead city, and I helped some guy do the “Night Elf Plans” quest. It was fun to do again, but it made me cringe in a way. This dude was just not the type of hunter that I am…our styles were very different. I felt sorry for his doggie. That’s when Scamp calmly told me that it had been idiots day on Warcraft, because she’d been bothered by n00bs too.

Oh, and I have a yahoo e-mail. I had no idea really, but I realized at some point that since I have a yahoo music account, that automatically signs me up for a yahoo e-mail. So yeah. I now have yaviel_isilmie@yahoo.com as my e-mail as well, and I’m thinking that’s gonna be my anti-spam mail, since my current e-mail is constantly being assaulted by spam.

Oh, Lacey dropped by today. It was fun to see her again. I even brought my camera to work and took some pictures. I also took pictures of Lori when she jumped on top of the table when a bug crawled across the floor. So, I might actually have some interesting things to post soon ^.^

Well, I’m guessing that’s all for now. I still gotta eat lunch…/looks at unappetizing lunch. Yeah. So, I’ll talk to ya’ll later, sunshines.

Annoying Buzzers

2006-Oct-20, Friday 11:22 pm
msmoon: (OMG! ONOZ!)
Well, I have two patients now. Mom called me right after I’d gotten home and informed me that Dad had called her and was sick as a dog along with 18 of the other men on the rig. She also said that she was feeling bad and would probably mosey on home sometime tonight. Dad got home and it turned out that he wasn’t sick from a virus or sickness, but because they’d gotten a new galley hand at the rig and the food was so terrible it gave all the men up-set stomachs and diarrhea =.= Honestly. He let himself sit for a while and felt a bit better just from resting; then, headed over to take a short shower and we sat and watched TV for a little while. But he got so tired and weak that he couldn’t really focus, so he went and laid down. Mom got in a little while after I wrote back to Gillian’s Amazon letter and she’s feeling terrible. I think they’re both in bed now. I hope the food Dad ate works its way out of his system soon...I’ll need his help with taking care of Mom.

I fixed us some Raman noodle (spiced up with a bit of Mrs. Dash), but he didn’t want his. Said he didn’t think his stomach could handle it. So it was just me eating. I watched a bit of The Soup with him, but he wanted to go lay down then, so I just turned off the TV (to give him the chance to fall asleep) and washed the dishes. I figured, Mom wouldn’t want to come home to a dirty kitchen and all. So, Twin-san, if you got on WoW tonight and wondered why I wasn’t there, this is why -.- Gomen ne. Oh, and in case you didn’t know, Ceire has mail. Gomen about that too =.=’

Luckily, Mom’s Christmas gift came in today. I wrapped it right away when I got home, so her gift is already wrapped. So’s Tiffany’s now that I think of it. But I ran out of tape right after that, so Alley and Scamp’s gifts are still unwrapped...which is good, ‘cause I haven’t finished stuffing that huge box that Scamp’s gift is in with packing. I need to pack it tighter so that there won’t be any spaces for the thing to move around.

Speaking of Scamp, we’ve been talking a bit about getting together for Thanksgiving….but it looks like we’re at an impasse here. Mom wants them to come down the week before Dad comes home, because (since we live here around Dad’s kin) Dad’s family always expect us to celebrate Thanksgiving with them. But Alex’s birthday is on the 11th which is the day Mom had planned. I mentioned something about maybe them coming down the Sunday before Dad comes in and her just getting her birthday present (which is totally separate from her Christmas present ^.^) a little early. But I think we’ve decided to tell our parents to work it out. Either way, I am bringing her her gift…if I have to come down the weekend before her birthday and spend and give it to her myself, then so be it. But one way or another, I want to give it to her myself.

In a related note, Scamp mentioned that Billy was cockney (not sure if I’m spelling that right or not, but hey, I spell ‘em like I sound ‘em out ^.^), and that they actually had a sort of language that they used as a way of confusing the local authorities because the cops back then didn’t like the cockney people overly much. Something to do with a lot of the words rhyme or something...it wasn’t overly clear -.- But anyway. I was thinking that’d be a great idea for my Knaves. Knaves in my story are a type of Rogue character. They’re can be anything from simple pick-pockets and thieves to master assassins. And of course it follows that, like in EverQuest, they have they’re own sort of language. In EQ they called it Theives’ Cant or some other such. But I was thinking that what Scamp’s told me of Cockney sounds perfect for the basis of a language for my Knaves. In theory at least. I’ve yet to put the idea into practicality.

Completely off subject here….there are flies in my house. I’m not talking about little buzzers either. No no no. These are big flies. There are at least 6 of them; 1 in the kitchen, 2 in my room, and 3 in the bathroom. They’ve been bugging the living hell out of me if only because I cannot figure out how they got here! I don’t leave my door open, so how’d they get in? They’re really bothering me too, because they’ll sit there on the wall forever to the point where you’ll be like “oh well, at least they’re not buzzing about me in that aggravating fashion.” And then they’ll be all buzzing about as if they’ve got a score to settle!

Ok. I’m too tired to go on, so that means this entry’s done for the night…..’night!

Beware, for I am: Drained Drained

Wow. Ok work today was so busy. I must’ve stood up for about 4 hour copying. I kid you not. Since I didn’t get the chance to do copying yesterday, it had piled up on me today. Blarg. Then, when I wasn’t copying, I was going into the sweat-box (aka the unfinished part of our office that has no AC and doubles as storage for our files and other crap) to continue organizing the files and such. I’m all the way up to the L’s. The biggest parts were A-D. All of those needed at least 2 drawers to themselves. After putting E & F together, I realized that all the other groups were very small. So now there’s a G, H, & I drawer and a J, K, & L drawer. I’ll continue on as needed.

Yesterday, when we peeled the shrimp, there were horse flies (aka sand flies, aka heralds of Satan =.=) everywhere! I now have large red bumps all over my feet and legs. It’s terrible! They itch like the dickens too. I’ve been rubbing anit-itch cream on them as much as I can and trying to ignore them.

I was gonna post a couple of hours ago…but I got caught up reading fan fiction...why must the written word hold me prisoner so? Not that I truly mind, of course. I enjoy reading things over and over and over. One of the many reasons why I own so many well-worn books. But if reading really is going to entrap me so often, couldn’t it suspend the laws of physics and stop time? That’d be nice.

Oh well. I’m off to bed. Tomorrow the girls at work will be gabbing about ‘Who do you think will win American Idol?’ If I’m going to be up to talking, I have to have some sleep. Goodnight.
