msmoon: (BC - You gotta be kidding)

Oh, so much to bitch about and no signal... darn. Good thing I can type up stuff and vent, and then post it to LJ later. Otherwise, I'd have no outlet... Well, it's Friday night, and we've survived the first official day of the family reunion. I'm feeling better today than I was yesterday - heck, I'm feeling better tonight than I was this morning (even if I can't help thinking 'I can't wait till Sunday' over and over and over).

We finally got the kitchen around 1, and all the ladies went in and unpacked as much as they needed and began cooking. Mom knew that I was feeling bad, so she told me to find our cabins and unpack our clothes and such. She gave my cousin Patricia the key to unlock the bunkhouse and all the cabins, and I agreed to follow her and just plah-kay myself down in whichever one of the cabins I choose. So, Pat, Jerry (Bernadine's youngest) and I dissembarked. I was in my little car (which reeked of rotten watermelon) and Pat and Jerry were in Pat's big diesel truck. They lead and I followed through the twisting labyrinth that is Chicot State Park. Finally we came upon Cabins 1-5. So, we parked on the side of the road and went over to cabin 1 to try and unlock it. It wouldn't unlock. We tried again. Still, no go. We went over to cabin 2 and faced the same thing.

So...we left my car parked where it was and went back to the front office. Pat explained our problem and then returned to the truck laughing. Turns out, there are 5 cabins behind the kitchen (where we were originally)...... so, we went and got my car, and then went back to the group area. We trekked back to the 'cabins'. It was pathetic. They were little rooms, each with six bunk beds and an AC. That was it. There was a separate building that had mens and womens shower stalls and toilets (two of each). We were told that all these facilities were self contained (meaning furnished with everything you would need)... they aren't. The beds are almost entirely bare. The kitchen, though full of pots and pans, had no seasonings, plates, forks, knives, spoons or glasses. When we told Mom, she was so disappointed and frustrated, she looked like she might cry. I know for a fact that she wanted to. We tried to make light of it, and assure her that we could handle it anyway, but she was still upset by it. Still, they were busy making the gumbo and potato salad for that night, so she had something to occupy herself with... otherwise, she would've thought about it too much and been more upset. You know how that is.

Technically, we got this place at a great deal. It isn't cheap by any means, but it's cheap in comparison for what we want. But still, the pictures of the cabins online are the pictures of plush places, with sofas and beds and flat screen TVs. Not wall-to-wall bunk beds and communal bathrooms. Mom's worked hard to pull this together, and it's upsetting to see so little be supplied considering how much she's put into it.

Most easily put, I hate this place. I'm still sick, though not feverish, so at least that isn't a worry. But still. I'm the type of person that likes my own space. Bunk beds are confining. And the fact that I can't have privacy in a shower... That's just my own private hell. If I were perfectly healthy, I would hate this place.

We've managed to borrow sleeping bags from those that came more prepared. Still. It just isn't what we'd thought it'd be.

Oh well. I'm absolutely exhausted, and it's terribly freezing in here. Goodnight, Sunshines =..=

msmoon: (Jesus Saves)

...ya'll remember that post a while back for
The First Nazarene Youth Lock-In? I remember reading something like 'So, we won't be doing another lock-in for a very... very.... VERY long time =..=' and now, I remember why I felt that way. Holy quadrupeds...

So! Yesterday I was a little upset. I woke up around 9ish, and I immediately got up and straightened my hair. I guess I just wanted to get that out of the way so that when I did decide to start my day, I'd be ready to go. Well, I'm laying in bed on Makoto-kun, when I hear a knock at my door. So, I go to see who it is (I figure it's got to be Mom or Dad)....it's Mom...and those people that are supposed to repair my trailer. The first thing I think is that I really wish they would've called ahead, since their main purpose is to replace my front glass door and MY ENTIRE KITCHEN FLOOR...=..= So, I go and get dressed and then head over to Mom's. I have towels to wash anyway, and that should occupy me until they've...fixed everything...at least. That was around 10:30 a.m.

At 2:30 I realized that I could not wait any longer to really get going. I asked Dad to go with me to the store and pick up some of the last minute things we'd need for the cooking that night. We did. The guys had pretty much laid my floor and repaired my door when I'd gotten back...but, we'd mentioned that the doors leak when it rains really hard, so they also put gutters above the doors, and they made sure that my fridge had everything it needed for the ice maker to work (I now has ice).

It was about 3:45 at this point. While they were still working, I hustled to get everything into Sheila (my parents car). I loaded up all the food...and then realized I'd forgotten the movies I was supposed to bring. So I loaded up that...and realized I'd forgotten the bottled water case I was brining. I couldn't think of anything else I'd forgotten, and at this point I had Harvey, my CD case, my purse with Calliope and all the food and drinks I was supposed to take. So, I got in the car and headed to church. Right as I crossed the highway to head to church, I realized I'd forgotten my camera =..= So! I headed for the church and unloaded everything.

Alicia had already been there as evidenced by the enormous football birthday cake for Justin/Buddy. Alicia pulled up not five minutes after I did, but as I know how to hustle, I'd had almost everything unloaded already. So! We made sure everything was as in it's place as it was gonna be until we started cooking...and then we got in Sheila and headed to the boys high school. They had a scrimmage game, which I'd never heard of before in my life (what? is 'practice' really not enough of a term for it?), and they'd asked us to come and watch. We had no problem with it, in fact it's somewhat relaxing to sit with a handful of people in those bleachers and watch the boys practice. There's no competitive edge to a practice, just a big show of approval for good plays :) We got there around 4:15/4:20 and we left an hour later at 5:20 to start cooking. We had our eye on Buddy, Jesse and Julian the entire time, so I made sure to call out to Jesse (the closest) and let him know we had to go and we'd see them later.

So, it takes about 10 to 15 minutes to get from the high school to the church, and the minute we got there, we started cooking. Or, I suppose I should say that Alicia did. She had brought 3 small indoor grills, and she got to work on the hamburger patties. I set out the lettuce, chopped an onion (a very large onion, whose scent still remains on my fingers) and five tomatoes. I made sure the buns, drinks, condiments and utensils were all presented on the counter and then, after Alicia was done with the burgers, I boiled up about 20 wieners.

People started showing up around 5:45ish I guess. Timmy, Takara and Lamarr all showed up, surprisingly enough...with their Bibles (which we awarded them points for :3). Next was Heath, one of the boys friends, who we all enjoy very very much. He's witty and nice, and he sat down and started playing Battleship with Lamarr (effectively keeping him out of our hair, which endears him to us that much more). Next, the pastor and two girls from Berryville showed up, Anna and Kristin I believe are the girls' names. Berryville, AR is about 40 minutes to an hour (depending on traffic and how you drive) away from Harrison, so we really didn't expect them to be early... Billy then showed up followed almost immediately by our own Pastor Sam. Star (Berryville's youth leader) showed up next with her boy Mike. The boys who were at practice(Jesse, Buddy, Julian and a friend who's name is John but they call JBAZ...) showed up right as I was setting the wieners out. We had Pastor Paul pray and then there was much eating. We had plenty of food left over, but that was sorta ok, because we were going to be eating most of this throughout the night.

So, we all ate and talked and enjoyed one another's company (some of this included playing PS3 games -..-) until about 9. Around 9 the pastors left and we started our movies :) I got in the sound booth and started playing a bit of music to signal that movies would be starting soon. The rest of Berryville (Emily, Summer, and a few others that I don't even know really) showed as we were staring the move, and we started out with Open Season. Oddly enough, that was perhaps the best movie of the night...I say that, because it's the only movie that everyone watched and enjoyed together.

After Open Season was Twilight, T's pick. That was when people started to filter downstairs to play games and just talk with each other. As long as one of the 'chaperons' were there, it was ok. Not everyone is a Twilighter like some of us, so we kind of expected some of them not to enjoy the movie. So half the crowd filtered down stairs and the rest either payed attention...or fell asleep.

Billy had brought Evil Dead III which he wanted to be shown with the copy of Army of Darkness that I'd bought for them. Unfortunately, we couldn't find Evil Dead... so, we looked everywhere for it, but it wasn't turning up... so we watching The Dark Knight.... and I really, really don't understand kids these days. I mean, Batman is always awesome, right? These new Batman movies are freakin' epic. And somehow, some of the kids fell asleep during the movie. Now, you may say, "wait a sec, it was after 2 in the morning!" ... That's no excuse! What was really weird is that some of the kids left >..> It was just...weird for me.

The movie ended around... 4:30ish in the morning, and the kids filtered out (them as wasn't sleepin). Alicia and I looked about and kinda figured 'huh...looks like they aren't as enthused about the movies.' So we'd sorta decided to informally shut down. We went down stairs, I had a cup of coffee and we tried to do something to keep our brains going. Around 5, Billy asked if we could watch Army of Darkness. Alicia was tired and soar at this point, and really didn't fee like it, so I told her I'd go ahead and start it up. The boys had ranted and raved about these movies, and I was only a tad bit curious.

...... OK, it stars Bruce Campbell right? And it's a Sam Raimi film...anything with a Raimi name on it (or in it) I'm willing to watch. But holy crap....After watching it all, Billy says, "So, did you like it?" and I replied with, "That has to be the worst movie I've ever seen." and he was like, "Really?!" I went on record saying "Doomsday was better." But...now that I've thought about it.... That was a good movie. Not in the, 'gather the family around, this'll be a treat!' type of good movie. But it's like...slapstick horror. I'm guessing when they said it was a funny movie with zombies and such in it... I was thinking it'd be something like Monty Python or even like Robin Hood: Men in Tights (best movie ever). It was just.... man... they just don't make them like that any more. It was like...there really is nothing that it was like, ok? It's just one of those movies that is funny and scary and terrible and it's funny because it's terrible, with enough plot holes to dismantle a convoy of 18 wheelers....

So! Our tally of movies (in total) comes to ...

The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian (LI1)
Iron Man (LI1)
Mortal Kombat (LI1)
Mortal Kombat Annihilation (LI1)
Open Season (LI2)
Twilight (LI2)
The Dark Knight (LI2)
Army of Darkness (LI2)

It appears that we can ever only fit in 4 movies in one lock-in <..< hm.

But anyway. So... yeah, then... there was breakfast. Alicia made breakfast casserole...which is biscuit on the bottom of a pan with egg, cheese and sausage on top, put in an oven and baked... Immediately after breakfast, there was cleaning. The kids seemed content to stay in the Youth room and play PS3 games but mostly talk a lot. I remember hearing them discussing the various pokemon and their different levels at one point and thinking, 'Yeah, the kids are fine...' I set Harvey to work in the sanctuary and tried to get everything I could think of that was mine out of the sound booth and down to my car. I ended up forgetting things, like, a million times.... I swear, I went up and down those stairs about 7 times in one hour =..= But, I made sure the sanctuary and sound booth were presentable and left Harvey to do his job. I did help Alicia a bit with putting things in their proper place in the kitchen, at least as much as I could. But I was about dead and ready to drop... so Alicia just told me to leave Harvey and that she'd put him away somewhere in the sound booth for me. I packed up my car and just came home. I totally forgot my camera and texted Alicia telling her to put that in the sound booth for me too.

When I got home, my front door was open, but not my screen door. Mom and Dad were installing a washer and dryer in my utility nook :) Dad had bought Mom a new washer-dryer set, so I got her old one! Which is awesome, because it means I don't have to haul all my stuff elsewhere to get it washed :D I would've been thrilled and very excited...but I was dead on my feat, doing a fabulous impersonation of the zombies on Shaun of the Dead (if I don't say so myself).

After Mom and Dad got the stuff as situated as they were going to get it (Dad needs one more part before it's fully installed), I took a shower and then ate a bit and took half of one of my muscle relaxer pills and then I think it was about... 10:30ish... I dozed until I heard some weird noises... Poked my head out my bedroom door to see Dad and Pastor Sam working on the dryer again. Murmured something and then shut the door and went back to sleep. I slept until around 7:30....I'm not as sore as I was (thank God for muscle relaxers =..=) but I still feel drugged.

I got up though, right around 8 and fixed something to eat. I found Evil Dead III >..> It was in with the books that Alicia had borrowed from me. She returned them to me right about the time Billy handed me the movie. So now we know where the movie disappeared to =..= And, I sorta figured...since I had it and I'd already seen Army of Darkness, why not watch Evil Dead while I ate? So I did :3 I can say, now that I've learned to appreciate the brand of movie, I didn't hate it.

...and now, oddly enough, I've every intention of taking my pills and going to bed =..= I'm still zonked. So, Goodnight, Sunshines.

OK! So... Uh, Alicia called and said that she'd called the pastor about Lamarr, and Bro. Sam said he'd have Lamarr back around 10:30.... so we agreed to push the meet time back from 9 to 10:30 so that Lamarr can come. I'm so relieved too. I really had hoped that Lamarr would be on this trip since I knew he was the most eager to see the movie.

Yeah, I totally got that bit of news 3 hours ago. I texted Twitter then promptly got distracted by Hook and just forgot to post here -..- Tomorrow should be interesting :D

Soooooo, I had an interview this morning. It was for a small part-time position at the local library. It doesn't look like I'll be getting the position though. When I got there, I was surprised when I walked into the office and there was this enormous tabby cat laying on the desk. The lady said the cat was Prince... evidently one of the library cats. o..O I didn't know libraries could have cats... but it seems like a nice idea. But anyway. She asked why I'd quit Hancocks and AMC, and I said because I couldn't stand on my feet all day due to a persistent back injury. Well, turns out the entire 7.5 hour shift is supposed to be on your feet, not to mention carrying books (lifting and bending and such). She and I talked for a bit more, and she thanked me for my honesty and said that if she needed a sub, she'd call me to do a day shift... just to see if I could handle the work. /shrug. You win some, you loose some.

After that, I went by the Revenue office, which is where I got my Arkansas license plate. Alicia pointed out to me the last time we got together that my license plate was missing the month sticker o..o so I went there and told them they'd forgotten to give me said sticker. The lady was happy to give me one. Then I nicked on home.... it looked like it was going to rain a bit, so I went and got all my clothes and towels and put the towels on to wash at Mom's house (Mom's supposed to get a new washer and dryer and I'll get her old set :3).

And while my towels were drying, Alicia showed up o..o' She wanted to show me that she had found out that Transformers 2 was playing at the Imax in Branson. She stayed for a bit and then left to clean the church. It was sprinkling a bit, but I folded my towels and brought them over to my house. Then I got on the mower and cut the grass for the Rent's front and back yard as well as part of my own :) It really didn't take long at all, and when I was done, I packed up my clothes (which had dried by this time) and brought them back home. Then I took a shower.... oh... showers are so awesome ~..~

... I put some incense on to burn... I tell you, I had 2 types of incense before I moved here, Sandalwood and Sex on the Beach (which, can't possibly smell anything like said activity). But, we were at the country mart grocery store, and they had some incense there that I hadn't tried before. So I decided to buy the two sample packs they had. One has five sticks of each, the Patchouly, Nag Champa (both of which I have no experience with), Vanilla, Ocean, Rain, and Opium ..... the last of which I found very bizarre. The others with the exception of Vanilla are very nice. Nothing terribly special mind you, but nice. The other sample pack had like 10 sticks of Orange, Lavender and Sage. I've gotta say, the Sage smells excellent, Lavender too really. Orange...not really so much. Oh, and I got a pack of Jasmine, which smells amazing. I really find that I enjoy burning incense. Dad hates it. So... I burn it a lot when he's offshore -..-

Aaaand tomorrow is the Youth Excursion thingy. And all I can think about is how much I wish I could get some sushi =..= I've only been wanting it since the Mom&Me Branson trip was canceled for the lake trip. Takara did call, and she said that she and Timmy were good to come, but they'd have to be picked up. I'm actually a little disappointed that Lamarr won't be able to join us. I mean, everyone wants to see Transformers 2, but he REALLY seemed to want to see it.... Oh well. We'll have to take him another time =..=

...ok... I'm tired and hungry now. Gonna go scrounge up some food and relax :) I'll talker later, Sunshines.

Catching Up

2009-Apr-18, Saturday 04:30 pm
msmoon: (MsMoon's Crescent)

/sigh. Gosh I suck. No postage for way too long. It’s almost been a week >..> and I cannot have two quiz spams side by side.

Uhhh, I had to order that charger from Amazon to get Makoto up and working. I mean, I tried just holding the charger in place and hoping it'd charge but, no dice. So, I finally have my charger :D It came in and Makoto is back to 100%. Thank you, Amazon.com :)

So! Let's see....I should probably make a list of things to discuss since it's been almost a week. Alicia and I met Tuesday night at
Uncommon Grounds. I busted my bum to get what little I have of my original story typed up properly and put into a folder so she could take it and read it. So far, her only problem is that there's so little of it =..= I'm hoping that if we keep meeting regularly, that I'll find some motivation to write more :) Lord knows, my original needs all the help it can get.

Hey, Scamp? How much of my original did I actually send to you o..o? I'm wondering if I actually have more now or if I sent it all to you...

You know something else that's been bothering me? I have been swinging for about 3 weeks or so now, and it still hurts to do it most of the time. I thought you were supposed to exercise for a time, and then your body would adjust to that and it wouldn't hurt to exercise >..> I have never enjoyed exercise. It's really hard to make yourself do something when you don't enjoy it. I enjoy swinging, and that is the only reason I've managed to stick with that exercise routine. Mom and I do want to get, like, yoga mats and weights with DVDs, and get some sort of exercise routine going. I mean, I've switched entirely to drinking water now, and I feel great, but I've got to get moving more often....and as much as I hate it, that means cardio -..- God, but I do hate cardio.

You really don't know frustration until you have to move. Or when you have to unpack...that's frustrating too. Especially when you have no power or water in your house...and no money. That sucks. Every day, I've been taking boxes and stuff over to my trailer and just stacking some of those boxes. Mom and I went over there today and started unpacking the kitchen....we agreed that all the pots and pans and dishes were dirty and would need to be cleaned before use =..= We also went to Target yesterday, and I got everything I need for my spare bathroom. I've never had a spare bathroom, so it was like, "What can I do there?" I didn't want to over do anything, but I still wanted it to be nice. Oh, and Mom and I unpacked all my clothes and put it in my enormous closet :) That was fun. We did sorta agree that there's no point in unpacking books or DVDs (the main mass of my things really). I mean, till I get those book shelves, my books have no place to go, and till I get a DVD cabinet, my DVDs have no place to go so....yeah. Kinda don't want them spread out all over the place.

It's weird to move and unpack, because you feel almost like you're getting presents when you remember everything that starts coming out of boxes. And you get all nostalgic because you're like, "Oh! This box is full of my movies!" or "Wow! I'd forgotten I had that!" even. It's just strange...good, but strange. The down-side, of course, is when you pull something out of the box and it's broken ;_; quite a few things have taken damage actually.

I've been working on Mom's Mother's Day gift for a while now. Every time I get the chance to stay home alone, I take it. What I'm doing is, I'm scanning as many old photos as I can find onto my log in on her new computer. I'm hoping that I can get a jump drive and transfer them all over the day before Mother's Day, and that'll be her Mothers Day gift :D I'm sure she'll love it, because she has no idea I'm doing it and she absolutely loves surprises. And plus that's something she's really been wanting to do, you know? Safeguard all her memories and such. So, shhh, don't tell anyone. But I've been working like a mad woman to get as much done as possible. It's not easy when the photos are not dated, and most of them aren't >..> Still, it's good to have them safe :)

Oh, our Trailer dude who sold us the trailer and moved it for us and all, he said that during every move a trailer takes some damage. So, we're supposed to take note of the things that are messed up inside the trailer and he'll fix them for us. So far, this is what I have...

1. The screen door has some damage to it on the outside.
2. The siding around the door is coming off in one spot.
3. The front door will not stay closed unless the deadbolt is locked.
4. The outside light fell off...we still don't know why o..o.
5. The floor in the kitchen is messed up, bowing slightly.
6. The joint in the kitchen has come away from the wall.
7. The recessed lighting in the kitchen is not sitting right.
8. The laminent near the stove and on the floor near the dishwasher is crackling.

Considering the hills and thrills they endured coming here, that's really a small list of things :) Every time I go into my trailer, I'm happy. I like how it looks inside, and it's just bare bones, so I know I'm going to enjoy it a lot whenever I actually can move in and put my stuff everywhere.

I haven't heard anything from my Twin recently...which is weird, since I re-sent her the letter that I'd e-mailed to the wrong place -..-' Dad and I were talking, and he figured since she's close to Atlanta, we might just get a round-trip ticket for me and I fly out :) That'd be really awesome. Oddly enough, Reiko has been so lonely lately, when I told her I'd be near Atlanta, she wanted to know if she could come to the wedding o..o' She was like, "I'll bring a gift! That's all that matters, right? The guests need to bring gifts! Atlanta's only 4 hours from here! And I can see you!" ...yeah...

Oh, speaking of Reiko. Like I said, she's been really lonely lately. Oddly enough, she has very few friends in NC, and since the army wives she does know have very little in common with her, she's actually transformed into the 'quiet one' of the bunch. I know o..o weird. But, I've been thinking how much I'd love to go to an anime con (not this year, but maybe next depending), and
Animazement is right there in Raleigh. If we want to get together again (and if we actually have money to attend), I could meet up with her and we could go there :) That'd be fun! And Mecha Con was such a blast.... cons really are the best way to get together :D I think. I mean, the Gathering with my Twin and then Mecha Con with Reiko. Both of them were a blast, and more so because of the company than because of the con. The Con's just a great excuse to get together and be crazy :)

Of course, I started looking up conventions close to me. The easiest for me would be the
Arkansas Anime Festival...it looks pretty cheap for a con though (even if they're calling it a festival. It's $17 per day for adults who are pre-registered AND it's in Fayetteville... that's an hour and 40 minutes away (not to mention dirt cheap)! I mean, I know that there's also Kawa Kon (in Clayton, MO) and
Naka Kon (in Kansas City, Mo), but Fayetteville is just uber convenient.

....wouldn't it be awesome, if every couple of years my friends and I could just meet up at a con? I mean, we could take turns since we're all in different places, but each year one of us would have the con in our state/nearby, and we'd all just have a great excuse to go :3

...all that anime/friend talk being said...I really miss my Red vs. Blue =..= I wanted to buy
The Blood Gluch Chronicles after I'd given my individual DVDs to Reiko...but then the Rents told me I was moving so...yah.. And now! they have the new season, Red vs. Blue: Reconstruction, out....and it's totally effin' awesome :D I mean, I've seen it all on the web site, but I really do have to have that <..< eventually...it will be mine..

Meh....I've talked/typed enough...goodness, but did I ever type enough. I really can't think of anything more to say and...I'm wanting to relax a bit. I'll post again later, Sunshines :)

msmoon: (MM's Jellies!)

Welcome to the longest week of my life. Man, it’s just been insane. Work’s intense because I’m always tied to my screen for hours and taking random breaks only when it feels like my head will explode. Thank goodness it actually paid off, because I’m caught up quite a bit now. I’ve also been writing guides to tasks that only I do...that’s always fun.

I went out and got Scamp Saturday. The drive was fun, but my house was being whittled down little by little in the 4 hours it took. My parents had moved everything from upstairs into the shed and many of the things I just didn’t need as well. My mattress was on the floor downstairs. During the down-time we had when my parents were busy with...something else…Scamp and I exchanged birthday gifts! She loved her gifts and I was sooo happy! I got her the Hoard key chain and made it into a necklace, and I got her a Figure Print of Fallena! It was so awesome! And she loved it and stared at it in awe for a long long time. Scamp was...uh, a little disappointed when one of my gifts didn’t really work out. She and Bear had gotten me a beautiful necklace of an owl flying with a moonstone in it’s claws, but she’d also gotten me this tank that has fake jellyfish in it...but, the pump for the tank didn’t work so the jellyfish just sank to the bottom of the tank -..- so yeah, she was disappointed. I loved the necklace though! I told her, “I shall call him ‘Jareth’ and he shall be mine :-D!”. That night was miserable, because my dad’s snoring is unholy...and since we were all sleeping in the same room, that really came into play that night.

Sunday, after church, we all went to Subway. Tried that new Chicken Pizziola or whatever it’s called...it wasn’t bad. Just…not something I’d go out of my way for. When we got home, Mom and Dad had packed up to leave for New Orleans, but the battery on Dad’s truck died. So he had to go to town and get a new one. But once that was done, Scamp and I were pretty much on our own. The geek fest began and much talking and giddy babbling commenced.

Monday was a little harsh...work was just so intense after the more busy than usual weekend. Also, at this point, everyone’s panicked because they realize it’s my last week. Monday and Tuesday went by pretty much the same. I was so very very tired, and went home to talk more with Scamp and vaguely pay attention to Bones. We packed as much as we could, but even when we were doing that, we were talking so much it was like we weren’t working. My parents actually got back from N.O. that afternoon, but they were staying with my Aunt Carolyn for the night. And, yesterday, I canceled my DSL for the 20th, and then later that day, Scamp tells me that they unhooked the computer and packed the wires in a box =..= so yeah...work’s the only way to post aside from Voice Post...which may happen tomorrow ^..^ Scamp managed to crank out some seriously awesome WoW fan fiction too. I dunno if it's cause we just talk about our character so much or because here she can relax a bit more or what, but it was awesome! And just in time too, because my parents showed up to pack everything just after she finished =..=

Oh! And I found something I desperately wanted. I’ve been wanting a mac for so long, but I can’t afford it. Aaaand, I’d been wanting to get a lap top too, because…well, sometimes I shut my computer off and late at night I get ideas to write...and I’d just like to have a laptop. Especially since my Dad was saying there are two colleges in the town and I might go back to college again o..o But anyway! I looked on Amazon.com to see if there were any good laptops that weren’t too highly priced. Well, I found a pretty awesome
MacPro...and it’s about $700 (yes, it’s considered used, but it’s ‘Like New’ so I’m sorta ok with that!), which for a Mac is really awesome! So, I was thinking of saving up my next two checks as much as possible (which is what I’d be doing anyway) and spending my money on that...Merry Christmas to Me, you know? It’d be nice...

Oh, and last night, after class, everyone had a little party for me with this awesome cake and everything! It was funny because they gave me the cutting knife, and I sorta twirled the handle a bit so that the point was facing downward and just stabbed in the center of the cake, and everyone who was watching went, “Whoa!” After we ate and went over to join the others that were sitting about, C.J. asked me “So, did you get any more s words?” and I was like, “S words? Like…Salamander? Or...Sincere?” and he was like, “No! Swords!” and I was like. “oh....” only a minute later did I get S Words put together equals Swords...kinda like Flo Rida, put together is Florida. Yeah -..- I was tired. But yeah. I told him that I’d found the
Halo Sword on Amazon...and that I had a whole Wish List dedicated to various swords and weapons...he was thrilled, but I’m not quite sure why O..o Funny how it amazes me to meet someone just as geeky as I am...in a place where I thought I knew how everyone already was before.

So...today Reiko comes over. The girls said that they’re treating me to Zen’s (well, they said it was my choice so booya :-D.). There are still things to worry about...but I kinda don’t want to anymore. I’m so tired and I can’t. So I’m just going to give the girls at work their Christmas/Going Away presents and have fun and enjoy my last few days here. I even brought my camera today to mark the occasion. I don’t have enough pictures of the girls as far as I’m concerned. So that’s all I’m worried about today. I do still need a change of address form, and to talk to my Edward Jones guy, but I’m thinking that’s something I might be able to squeeze in today and tomorrow. I’ll just have to check. But I refuse to worry about it.

I guess I’m off again. I was taking a little brain break because in the little time I’ve had sitting down I manage to get 7 pages of stats done =..= I can’t wait till 5. So, I’m off again, Sunshines.

Harvest Moon

msmoon: (SM - Baka)

Wednesday was madness...Madness, I say! After work, Reiko called and asked if I could design her wedding invitations that night...that way we could have as much time as possible our last night together. So I said ok. I didn’t feel like going to church anyway...So, she came over to my place, and she had her invitations – blank of course – in a box with envelopes and RSVP cards and envelopes for those. On the back of the box there are basic instructions for how to design these invitations. It basically tells you to open up Word, adjust the paper size and then begin printing! Easy, yes? Well, she wanted to match her parents’ wedding invitation (which they had framed), so we basically copied it word for word only filling in names and dates and places and such. Well, once I had everything set, we saved it to my jump drive. Problem is, I didn’t have my printer (because Target fails), so, we took the file over to her mom’s house and decided to print from there. I tried to open up the document...and it didn’t open right. That’s when I realized, ZOMG! You don’t have word!!!!

…so we downloaded the free trial version of Word onto her mom’s computer. That should’ve been easy too, except that it took a little over an hour to do =..= We spent the time talking, taking quizzes, sending wacky pictures to Jim, and speaking in LOLCat. We made the time fun. Her Mom was driving me crazy because she kept referring back to a Wedding Etiquette book...and then once we finally got Word installed, it was the trial version, so I could open it and print it and look at it…but I couldn’t alter it >..< So finally, Reiko’s like, “This is how it is! And that’s how it’s staying!” so yeah. She got all her invitations printed. Of course, by then it was after nine =..= I was a tired puppy.

The next day was better. Well, the evening was. Scamp and I got to RP a bit, and since our days are numbered for that in WoW, it was a special occasion. So I got to relax a bit and just RP with Scamp, which is awesome. I know we won’t be able to do that as much without Yahoo messenger anymore. I’ve found the most preferable IM system is when I’m logged into Yahoo and I can chat with someone. It’s just more fun. I don’t really know exactly when I’ll be in tonight because Nicole’s grandmother died yesterday. Her wake is today, and we were all going to go over there and try to express our condolences together. I don’t know how long that usually takes or what’s entailed (never really having gone to a wake for the family before) so I’m not sure how long I’ll be.

Dad was a little upset. He found out that his company isn’t transferring him as quickly as he’d hoped. So he won’t be going to Brazil any time soon…he’s a little worried, because he had wanted to get my place started right away, but now he’s afraid that we’ll have to save up a few extra months before we can do that. I told him that I could be patient and I was content to wait. As long as we have a plan, I was happy. I don’t want to work the man into an early grave, after all.

Gosh I’m tired. I’m so glad it’s Friday. Sleeping in till 8 will be nice tomorrow. I can’t wait till next Friday though :D I actually went and got Reiko and My Twilight outfits done, and they look so awesome! I'm so pleased with them, and I can't wait till the 21st!

Well, I gotta go now. I’ll talk later, Sunshines.

Day Off

2008-Jul-10, Thursday 10:10 am
msmoon: (BC - You gotta be kidding)

Zomg...So, the 10 hour work week started this week, and I got Wednesday (yesterday) off. I think I planed to do way too much in one day. But in the end, I didn’t get as much as I wanted accomplished. I was going through all the things I know I need done, and in truth, I only got one thing fully accomplished. I had told Scamp, “I need a hair cut, I need to cut the grass, I need to get my car inspected and I need to call AT&T to ask why the hell I don't have internet (in the most polite way possible)”. I did get in touch with AT&T and after an hour and a half, I have internet. I also got most of the grass cut, but not all...so not a total fail, but still not a success either. It’s such a long story…and I really am getting ahead of myself.

OK, so I woke up…don’t know when exactly, but I got out to the mower around 10 in the morning. Yeah, hottest part of the day, yada yada. I wasn’t waking up early on my day off, and it’s effin’ hot all the time around here anyway. So, I got on the mower around 10. I was both surprised, and yet not, to find the spare gas can was empty. So I only had whatever gas was in the mower to work with. I managed to get all of my parents yard mowed, my front yard and part of my side yard mowed…and then the thing shut off on me. I had noticed the drop in temperature and increase in moisture – both of which usually mean rain. So I’d been saying to myself, “I don’t care if it does rain…I’ll mow until I’m out of gas.” So, when the gas ran out, I sat there all of 2 seconds, contemplating going for gas. The second I hopped off and my foot hit the ground, it was like the bottom of the bucket fell out. I got drenched just walking to my house, and I wasn’t even that far away! So, I looked upward and yelled, “Fine! I can take a hint!” and then went inside to shower. I wasn’t surprised to find both my knees and shoulders were sun burnt. I was surprised to find that other than being slightly over-heated, I wasn’t that bothered by it. Mostly because I was so dang sore. Our mower is the type that has two handles on either side, and you have to push the handles to go forward…something is wrong with the right handle, and it’s overly tight, not going as easily forward or backward as usual. My whole right side was so sore from fighting with it…I had to take two alieve to get to sleep along with my regular pills.

But anyway...I ate some lunch after my shower (which felt fantastic. Isn’t it amazing how blissful a shower feels after you’ve sweet for 2+ hours. Yes. 2+. I got on that mower around 10 and when I walked in the house it was 12:30 =..=). I answered a few calls I'd gotten (from Mom and Reiko). Then I turned my computer on and dialed the DSL line for AT&T. Ended up talking with a lovely lady named Gail over in Asia (I know. I asked where she was. “You’re actually calling Asia, Ma’am.” O..O Awesome!). After a few minutes, she realized that I was not registered with AT&T ...even though I’d had the internet for…what? 5 or six months now? Yeah. Not registered. So evidently, they’d set me up with a temporary name and password, and it’d run out. An hour and a half later, I was back online, and I’d earned the biggest migraine I’d had in a while. I don't think it was from the computer and the fight with it alone; probably a combination of frustrations with the mower, the heat outside, the cool climate inside and the frustrations with the computer just combined for one big whopper (and this wasn't Burger King. I did not have it my way =..=). I took pills and dragged myself up to bed. I am so sore today. It’s not even funny. My sunburn isn’t bothering me though. Luckily, Mom had left behind her huge straw hat, and my face is just fine.

Oh, I got a call from Reiko. I had decided to go to Mecha Con this year…which…surprised me really. But, I figured why the hell not? My days in LA are numbered now, so might as well take advantage of the local cons. With Dad’s shifts being all messed up, Mom decided that she won’t be able to come down during the convention. So, I went ahead and invited Reiko, because she needs as much distraction as she can get…plus she loves conventions. And, going alone wouldn’t suck, but it’ll be a lot more fun with her.

Well...I say I 'invited' her...but, really when she called I said, "Take August 1-3 off."
and she was like, "Why?"
and I was like, "Because you're going to be in Lafayette."
and she was like, "...why?"
and I was like, "Because you're going to Mecha Con with me."
and she was like, "...Awesome! An anime convention? Hells yeah!"

So, I’d told her to schedule off for the 1-3 of August. She called this morning, and what I think will happen is that she’ll come to spend the night Thursday night (July 31st), and then we’ll just leave Friday morning. I couldn’t get her registered early, so I’m hoping to arrive around 11:30 for the walk-in registration. Google says it takes about 1 hour and 45 minutes to get to the con, I’m adding in 30 minutes for traffic…we’ll probably leave around 8:45ish. At least, that’s the plan. I just hope it works without a hitch.

….headache hangover is not good. Blah. I think next week, I'll plan to do maybe one or two things, but not a bunch of stuff. It's supposed to be a day off after all. Oh well. Back to work! Later, Sunshines.

Harvest Moon

msmoon: (RVB - Caboose Hamster)

It’s been so long since I’ve posted! Or at least it feels that way. But the 17th was kind of hard so…not really in the mood to post.

OK, so hears what’s been happening. The 17th, is G’s birthday along with my Dad’s. I got a call from Mom that morning saying that my Uncle Bobby (who lives in Atlanta) had died that morning. On my Dad’s birthday his older brother died...not a great way to start a birthday, I tell you. Mom told me she was driving down and Dad would be coming in from the rig by boat (which is a long and arduous process). I checked the schedule, and knowing that G would be leaving for the remainder of the week to see her granddaughter graduate from basic training, I knew that there was no way I’d be able to take off. So I was going to be staying home this time.

Mom got to my house some time that night around 9 and had brought food. She went next door and got some sleep and so did I. I know Dad got in some time much later, but I was too tired from the emotionally draining day and just hit the hay. The next morning, my Aunt Tammy dropped off her dog, Max, and Dad popped over to say good morning and then goodbye. Once I had Max all situated, Mom and Dad got in their car and followed Aunt Tammy and the rest of the family on the way to Georgia.

Aside from having a house guest, not much really happened for the next couple of days. Friday, Mom and Dad got back from the funeral (which had been on Thursday). They called me just after lunch to find out where Max’s leash was so they could take him out for a walk ^..^

Around 4:45 I got a call from Kayla . She said that she and Renata and Celeste were going to World of Wings and then going to see Get Smart that night, and they wanted to know if I would come too. I told her I’d see if I could make it, as they were meeting at 6:30 and I got off at 5. I rushed home and told my parents what was up and they agreed that I should go. I pulled in to the restaurant parking lot (and it was so full) and I got a call on my cell. It was Kayla saying “Get your butt down here now!” which tickled me. I then told her I was in the parking lot. I joined them, but I really didn’t eat. In fact the only thing I ordered was a vanilla milk shake. We rushed off to the movie afterwards (as they were slow getting our food to us) and we all sat together up in the very top.

The movie was awesome, but I’ll wait to talk about that for a full movie review. Afterwards, we laughed and giggled about our favorite parts. In the parking lot, Kayla was like “I don’t wanna go home...” so we talked about it and decided to go to Starbucks. Renata couldn’t go…I think because her little sister Alyson was with her. But Celeste, Kayla and I enjoyed the coffee shop (me being very wary about the whole experience, as I’d never been to Starbucks before). We sat and talked till around 10:40, and then we all went home (after freezing inside the coffee shop).

Saturday and Sunday run into each other, as I was feeling absolutely terrible through both of them. Bloody hell week started on Saturday, and aside from getting Mom to “teach” me how to make one of her spaghettis (by filing her for my Cooking with Clara dvd), I did little but sleep. In fact, all Sunday I was napping…and nothing else.

Monday, I started my new duties, tending to the mail, though I had been doing that since Wednesday of the following week as G was on vacation. My days were full of mail and stats and checking files...so much so that I barely looked up long enough to check my own e-mail.

Oh, also, I finally got the book, Twilight by Stephenie Meyer. I’ve only gotten up to chapter 5, but I’m confident that I’ll have that book read before the movie comes out (since according to the IMDB profile, the movie won’t be out till December 12. It seems fairly interesting...even though I have a sneaking suspicion (mostly from Reiko’s excited ramblings) that I know what will happen. Still, if it’s good, I’ll get the other books ^..^ Or maybe...I’ll wait to see the other movies that come out and read the books after the movies…it’s always better that way.

Wednesday, Dad came in from offshore (again. I know) and he and Mom packed up, planning to leave the next morning for Ark. Mom knew that I didn’t like borrowing Cole’s (from work) phone, so she said she’d talked to my cousin Tammy. She said that Tammy had a razr that she didn’t need anymore, and would give it to me since I was having such phone troubles. I was excited about it, till I learned that it was a pink razr. But I got over it, reasoning that a good phone is still a good phone. And how many of my friends would have a pink razr? None of ‘em! Anyway, I headed out to church that night, and talked to Tammy. Turns out, she was still using the phone, and while she wouldn’t mind giving it to me, she’d need to convince her husband to upgrade first so she’d have one of her own. Celeste, who I’d been talking to before hand, mentioned that I could probably get a good quality phone off of eBay for much cheaper than it’s sold normally. So, this morning, I bought THIS. I’m pleased with it ^..^ Though, I have no idea what I’m going to name it. I’m thinking, it should be a girl name though. I’ll figure it out.

Other than that…I get paid tomorrow…but nothing else to report on. It’s rained here every day. Sometimes, so hard that the trees bend and there are white-out like conditions. I love it!

Harvest Moon

I am alive, I swear

2007-Oct-12, Friday 12:47 pm
msmoon: (Warcraft - Friends)
Wow. What a weekend. I felt like I was dashing about madly all last week. And I’ve been either so tired or so busy this week, I haven’t had time to even write about it.

We didn’t exactly sleep in Saturday. I believe it was around 8 when we got up. While I’m used to sleeping in till around 9/10, I knew I’d need time to wake up, and then I’d be off to town to pick up the trays I’d ordered with a few drinks.

And that’s pretty much exactly how it happened. I learned that if you’re going to pay for a tray for a party, they start at a bare minimum of $40. Sam’s gave us a nice croissant sandwich tray, and from Chick-Fil-A we got the Large cheesecake tray (sinfulness, anyone?).

We actually had everything ready around 12; partially because I’m OCD that way & partially because Misty had said she needed to come early. In fact, everyone showed up late. Reiko had called around 12, telling us she’d be a little late. Dena, one of our three nurses, showed up first around 2:20 with her two daughters Erin & Casey. Reiko followed around 2:30, & Lori and Lenda (our other two nurses) showed up around 2:45. Misty and Lacey did not attend.

I welcomed everyone, gave a small tour, had Happy Birthday sung to me, talked, opened gifts and then let Reiko take over the entertainment...which worked well, since she has no shame ^..^

Over all, my gifts include a $90 Wal-Mart gift card from my CoWorkers, 1 plant shipped over via delivery service from my boss, 2 movies (While you were Sleeping & The Princess Bride) from Chibi, 1 painted pony and a beta fish from Reiko, a Moon fairy figure from Scamp, the Black Beauty figure from my Twin, and 2 Beta fish in a beautiful bowl with a calla lily on top and a rock fountain from Mom. O..O Pretty decent birthday haul if I do say so myself. I named my three betas Lincoln, Blinkon and Nodd (Lynx, Blinky and Noddy).

Sunday was crash day. I remember very little about Sunday when I first think about it. I know we went to Taco Bell after church, then I blew my gift card @ Wal-Mart. Aside from the many groceries (and a new bowl for Noddy), I got a bunch of movies which include: 300, The Prestige, Transformers the Movie, Lara Croft Tomb Raider, Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life, Ghost Rider, and Labyrinth. Indeed, not a bad haul at all ^..^ After we got back, Scamp showed me Fable, which I think, if I had the computer game, I’d like.

We then watched Labyrinth...which put the Goblin King on my ‘List of Guilty Pleasures’. This movie quickly became another one of my obsessions. I should’ve known I’d love it since I love all things Jim Hinson. But honestly, David Bowie is not on my list of hot guys, but damn! Him as Jareth I’ll take any day. I think it’s the cool clothes and makeup/hair...especially those pants...I told the girls at work that I watched it 3 times before I really looked at his face. I mean seriously, either those pants are super spandex two sizes too small or someone invested in a very large potato…

Monday wasn’t my best day. I wasn’t really feeling well, poor Noddy finally kicked the bucket (R.I.P., Noddy =..=’), and we took Scamp to be picked up by her parents. After that, I came home, showered and watched Labyrinth in Japanese. What? I said it was a new obsession!

Tuesday was a dull blur. Even my coworkers pointed out that I’ve been extremely quiet. Wednesday, I bought 3 LSU shirts, beings as we’ve officially switched from wearing Saints shirts on Friday. I also bought proper food for Lynx and Blinky, along with water diclorinator. And my Roomba came in. I’ve named him Harvey ^..^

Last night, I finally got all my movies over from my Mom’s house. I went through them, and what I could put in the stand, I did…then I realized (after seeing there was about 20 movies that wouldn’t fit), that they would fit perfectly between the sloping wall and the floor…so I stacked them that way…….it looked kinda cool. With my new movies, I now have about 139 movies in my movie collection (and that doesn’t include my Anime/Box set collection).

I actually love living alone. I’m sure at some point I’ll get tired of it, but as for right now…I’m enjoying my house. After work today, I’ll be doing some laundry (towels & sheets I hope), taping some more of Supernatural - season 2 for my cousin, and picking up wires and clutter so that Harvey can do his first job and vacuum my living room. I’m just glad it’s Friday. And that’s all for now, sunshines. Later.

You Could Be a Vampire... If You Had To

Like most people, the thought of being a vampire has crossed your mind. But you're not sure if you'd do it, even if you could.

Living forever doesn't sound half bad, if you could live forever with the people you love the most.

But do vampires even love? And would the vampire version of you even be you?

It's all too much to contemplate. Luckily, the chances of you ever becoming a vampire are astronomically low.

What you would like best about being a vampire: Living forever

What you would like least about being a vampire: Blood stained teeth
