Volunteer Work

msmoon: (Slayers - Bawl)

Compared to the last two days, today has been pretty busy. Woke up early and got dressed and ready. Mom and I went to town and I stopped at various places, handing out my resume. I also went to two staffing agencies, and I have an interview for a receptionist at a local insurance place this Friday at 11:30 (wish me luck :3)

After going to the hospital, the doctor’s office, the college (which, doesn’t accept resumes unless they have a position opened >..> lame), and the two staffing agencies, we were hungry and tired. So, we headed to McDonalds and then went home. We ate and watched HGTV (I love Color Splash and Deserving Design), and then we went outside and sat in the swing. We even swung on the new swing, but the board isn’t really wide enough and...alas, I am out of shape. But I would swing for a few minutes, and my syatic nerve would start to act up, so I’d go around the yard taking pictures, and then I’d feel ok again and I’d get back on and swing again :)

The reason I’m taking so many pictures is because everything is blooming! Our bradford pear tree is full of white blossoms, we’ve been having yellow daffodils everywhere that’re just so pretty, now there are two bushes behind our house that are full of yellow blossoms and the cherry blossom tree (the one that split in three from the ice storm?) has white blossoms all over it ^..^ It’s so cool.

Of course, Mom got a call from one of my Aunts....I think Aunt Audrey. They found my Uncle Wilford in his bed today, dead. Mom was a little shaken, because she said she’d just seen him at Richard’s funeral and he’d looked fine. She even said that she went out of her way to hug him... of course, Mom’s now really on the ball about the family reunion thing. She says that it’s a shame that the only time they all get together is when there’s a funeral, and she really wants to have a happy occasion to get together before they loose another one o..o

I have no idea how, but somehow, I got volunteered for helping to organise this monster >..> I can’t say that I really mind, because I know Mom doesn’t really know a lot about these sorts of things - and, I’m not saying that I’m so great at it, but still, I have gone to conventions before, so at least I have an idea of what could/should be done. For one, we’re working on getting a head count of who all wants to go, that way we’ll be able to get a pricing list (this place is going to coast $800 for the 2 nights we’re staying, so it cannot be free =..=). After the head count, we’ll figure out who intends to show up and when...I can’t see charging full price to someone who plans on only being there one night/day, and if people bring campers and don’t actually stay on, what’s the point in charging them, right? Also, I want to get as many e-mail addresses as I can, and actually start a news letter from an official e-mail (not one of my own) with updates and suggestions and all that jazz. I told Mom that for the evenings we can all just eat supper together and talk and enjoy one another’s company, but for the days, we’ll need to think of activities and stuff to do >..> I’m not the best person for that. I also told Mom that I’d like to get pictures of her siblings that have passed away, perhaps both past and present photos, and blend those pictures together and put their names on the photo and frame it nicely....it just would be a nice reminder of those who couldn’t make the reunion...I asked Aunt Lane about that, since I know she has a lot of pictures of everyone with her genealogy project. I have little doubt that during the reunion, I will have my camcorder out as well :)

Aaaand I’ve got church tonight. I’ll be asking Alicia if she plans on going to Wal-Mart this Friday at 11ish. In case everyone has been living in a hole for a while... Twilight comes out this Saturday. Now, I have it on good authority (both Scamp, who’s sister works at a Wal-Mart, and from calling the local Wal-Mart) that at midnight on the 20/21 they will be pulling out the Twilight DVDs at Wal-Mart. Not only that, every Wal-Mart should be having a fairly large Twilight parafinelia section with clothes and accessories....I called the local Wal-Mart to make sure I wasn’t just showing up for nothing this Friday night/Saturday morning, and the dude in electronics said that they’ll be stocking the DVD’s at Midnight on Friday/Saturday, and he’s not certain what’s going on, but in another department behind the jewelry section, they’re setting something up >..> Sounds worth investigating at least. I even called Jennifer (a local family friend who I found out is a Twi-Teen) to see if maybe she and her sister and mom would like to come with us to Wal-Mart and hang out and see what there was to see....but they’re going out of town tomorrow so...yeah. Make no mistake, I fully intend to buy my copy of Twilight from Target. The
Twilight-Target deal is a much better one if I’m asked (and it’s my journal, so I’ll pretend that I was). A 3-disc deal for $17.99? Hello! I am so all over that....but the hard-core fan girl in me(who squees randomly at SpunkRansom’s golden eyes) demands that I show up if only to see what there will be to see.

/sigh. I guess that’s all...I don’t have anything else to add, and it’s about time I started getting ready for church. It’s been so nice out today...I’m glad we got some outside time :) I’ll talk later. See ya, Sunshines

msmoon: (Politics - Walken for president)

This morning, I went and voted right away. I left the house around 7 and got there at 7:05, and I got out at 7:10. My Car was still warm. There were no people in front of me, and there was an open booth. So, it didn’t take long. Also, there was a sign on the door saying STOP! Look on the Table! And on the table there were all the candidates running and the amendments. Of course, they don’t put them in layman’s terms, but at least they had that before you get in the booth, right?

I had fun with Reiko this weekend, but she nearly made me lame from the 2 hours walking around Wal-Mart and then the other two hours walking around Target. I have to say, regestering at Target is so much easier. They give you a little inventory thingy to compile your list for both stores, but the one at Target has a full LCD display that shows what item you’ve chosen, how many you want and the price of each one. And plus, Target just always seems nicer than Wal-Mart for some odd reason ^..^

Not much else to post really...Here’s all the political quizes. Good to get them out now, right? Later, Sunshines.

You Should Live in a Purple State

Your preferences are 35% Blue, 65% Red

You may not be a swing voter, but you feel comfortable around moderate people.

You tend to do best in states with a red and blue mix - like Nevada and North Carolina.

You are adaptable. You can converse with a church crowd as easily as with grad students.

We Predict You Voted For McCain

We're 75% sure you voted for McCain.

You seem to fit the profile of a typical McCain voter.

We're not saying you should have (or shouldn't have) voted for him.

But if we had to place a bet, we'd guess you voted McCain this year.

Harvest Moon

msmoon: (Jesus Saves)

OK, so after e-mailing Mrs. Ellen, we renegotiated my departure, and I’m not leaving on the 20th of November instead of the 14th. Also, after November 30th, I won’t have insurance any more =..= and there’s no way I’m gonna be able to afford it on my own. I’ll just have to find a new job as soon as I can.

…..the clear soup at Zen’s is just so freakin’ awesome. There isn’t much to it. Just beef/onion broth with green onion and mushrooms, but it’s just so warm and soothing. It’s just so nice. I could eat it any time. That’s all I have to say about that.

Oh! So, remember how I got that printer? Yeah...yeah, I got it in, and I tried to fool with it for two weeks. TWO WEEKS! Well, I’d turn it on, and it would say “Paper Jam, clear paper and press Enter” well, I’d pretty much done just about everything shy of taking the dang thing apart piece by piece and putting it all back together. In fact, I hadn’t even put paper IN the paper try...so I took it back to Target and got my money back =..= I’m gonna order another one eventually...but. I’m gonna wait till more towards Christmas. I know it was supposed to be a Birthday present, so my Dad’s sort of upset that it didn’t work for me. I told him not to worry. I’d just wait till they got their next credit card statement, you know, make sure they didn’t owe a lot of money, and then order it. But this time, I’m ordering the
5300 version.. At least that’s one thing I don’t have to worry about packing up -..-

Now that I’ve finally got the basics of my scrapbooking down, I know that I need to focus on some of the more embellishing aspects of the craft. I mean, I’ve got all the pictures printed out and most of my supplies (I’ll need to get tons more cardstock, adhesive and a spare book tomorrow), so now I need to get some embellishments and page headers. The first page, I’ve decided to have one picture on it in the center of the page, which will tell the content of the scrapbook. But there are so many costumes for the cosplay sections that I want to have page headers, ya know? So, I either need to get some sort of decorative cardstock header type, or just get some peel-and-stick letters that I can use to form words at the top of the pages that begin certain sections. I’ll have to just look about and see what they have to offer. The theme colors are red and black (for the book and pages – all the cardstock that I’ve got the pictures on is different colors =..=), so if it’s just words and designs, I’ll have to be red...If I get a border to put words on, then it’ll just be black. It depends on what I want XD

Work has become a lot better. Now that everyone’s adjusted to the news, we’ve all gotten back to joking around with each other. I just hear a lot more of, “You see what you’ll be missing!” and “How are we gonna go on without you?” lately. But things have gone back to “normal”. I just have to start thinking about my soon-to-be lack of insurance and how to train someone for this job whenever they finally decide on someone. But things have gone back to being fun again – which is what I really wanted for my last few weeks. I saw these little “Desk Cones” at Books-A-Million. They’re like, construction work cones or men-at-work cones, but they’re tiny for a desk and they say things like “I haven’t had my coffee yet, don’t make me kill you.” And I want to get G a 2009 Maxine Desk calendar, because we both have enjoyed Maxine so much. I figure it’ll be great parting gifts :D

Meh...Gotta get back to work now =..= Later, Sunshines!

msmoon: (XME - Rain)
Even a long weekend isn’t long enough. Man, I can’t wait till the two weeks I’m off at the end of June =.= But that’ll pass quickly too and then I’ll be back in the grind. Geeze, would you listen to me, little Miss Sunshine. MM’s all “glass half full” today. Of course the glass’s half full! It’s been raining all day. But I love the rain...I just like it better when I’m home so’s I can enjoy it.

Ok, enough of that. The weekend was nice...Any day I don’t have to wake up at 5:45 is a good day. Saturday, Scampers went home. Her parents and older brother Josh came over. Josh played some WoW. We talked a lot. Ate. Uncle Steve went over and looked at the Nexus and gave Mom a page full of stuff that we need to remember. He said if the house is empty as it is now, he can paint the whole thing in one day. That’s very promising. We had wanted to go with paneling upstairs because the paint keeps peeling, but he says that it’d be cheaper and easier to just spray on that stuff that we have on our ceilings now (popcorn ceiling). He says he can smooth it all out and it’ll be all professional. I wonder if we can paint it...I hope so.

After they all hightailed it, Mom and I decided we should go shopping. I had seen some nice tank tops in the JC Penny’s catalog that I wanted to see about getting. We were disappointed to find them in the juniors section. But we reasoned that if we got an XL, it’d fit. Well, it didn’t =.= So, we’re gonna end up returning 4 tops if we can. We did find some uber cool PJs for me. That was nice. We then went to Target and I bought a bunch of crap (and Mom did too!). I got Firefly, Pan’s Labyrinth, Second Hand Lions, and Robin Hood: Men in Tights. I now have a desire to buy as many Mel Brooks movies as I can lay my hands on ^.^ And Second Hand Lions is still one of the best movies. I’m still not sure if I liked Pan’s Labyrinth….it was beautifully made, and the Spanish language really embellishes it…but, I’m not sure if the ending was really a good one, or if the end justifies the means. It’s just…disappointing. Firefly is still coolness on a stick. I can’t see why anyone would’ve canceled that.

Speaking of disappointments, saw Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End with Mom and Scampers Friday night. /sigh …thanks a lot Disney. Sorry, but I didn’t enjoy the ending. It was all good…until the end. Hate what they did with the Turners. And another thing… um, Disney? Why does everyone of importance on the boat have to scream “FIRE!!” before the cannons can fire? I’m just curious.…I mean, is there a contract somewhere? Or is that just your way of expressing chain of command or something? I Loved Jack. That never will change. Gotta love Jack. Scampers tells me that they’re thinking about making two more movies about just him, and they’ll be like a prequel and a sequel. That’d be much coolness.

I worked a bit on my web site Monday as shocking as that sounds. I’ve been tweaking things quietly for a while now, but just recently I took down the hidden “Original” section that was all about my story and world, and I started working on my Warcraft section. It’s made me want to redesign my City of Heroes section too. I only just noticed that all of the characters that I have up there, are characters from my first run with CoH…So, I might-should update at least the characters that I actually had the last time I played =.=

Mom and I were talking the other day, mostly about our future plans and all. She said that eventually, she and Dad want to travel a bit before he retires (while they can still afford it). There’s a lot of the country that they still haven’t seen, and Mom’s always wanted to sorta tour the US. She was saying that Dad asked her not to get a dog while they’re traveling around (which is totally weird, because Mom’s the last person to have a dog when she’s home in every-day life much less when she’s traveling all over). And she said that while they didn’t want to get a dog, it might be a good idea for me to get one, at least as a guard dog and companion while they’re away. I am on the back half of the two acres and all. Mom and I searched for Large Breed Dogs, and we found a web site that has information about Giant breeds and Lage breeds and even some medium breeds. It has their temperament and such on there along with how they look and what they were bred for.

I think I’ve finally decided….on a Great Dane. I want to get a great dane puppy ^.^ So, that means I’ll be tracking down my cousin Angel to pick her brain about the breed, what type of nutrition and training they’d need and all that. I figure, I’ve got at least an acre to myself and I know my parents don’t mind sharing it with me, so I’ve got plenty of room to exercise her. I think Angel works at Pet Smart with obedience classes and such, so I could start with that while she’s a pup and then keep up the training at home. Plus the temperament is perfect for what I want…and it’d be real nice to have a dog to come home to. The only thing I really want to check out is if the pen that Uncle Charles gave me is big enough for the dog when she’s full size. I’m thinking that I can leave the dog there when I go out to work, and then come home and exercise with the dog by walking or playing or whatever. Then it’ll be time to fix supper and eat. I’m also thinking that if I fix the dog’s food before mine, she’ll be so busy eating, she might not pay me any mind while I fix my food. So…I need to know about space, food, training, and any other needs the dog may have...Should be a piece of cake ^.^

Oh, and guess what? Chibi's home! Yeah, my 'Mouto-san's finally come back. We've talked about getting together sometime this Saturday. I'll have to call Reiko and see if/when she can make it. So, I'm wondering. I had these gifts that I had wanted to give them for Christmas last year, but I forgot that they were there (there was so many other things to remember!). So I'm wondering if I should just give them that now or wait till Christmas again....

I was just thinking how interesting it’d look if I got all set up and I got my dog and all, and then if Scamp came to visit (which I’m sure she will) with her dogs….that’d be a funny picture.

I guess that’s all for now...I can’t think of anything else to write. Pay day comes at the end of this week…so I’ll be broke again soon ^.^ Later, sunshines.

Wow…what an eventful weekend. I think we did more than during the weekend than during the week. I have pictures up on FaceBook and my scrap book here of the whole bed fiasco. We had to go pick up my bed Saturday, but we got there at 9, and they weren't open. So Mom wanted to show me some dishes and things at Target that she thought I might like. Dad ended up buying me some uber-cool silverware that I love and a little coffee pot just for me ^.^ Hapyness. So, yeah, then we got my bed...and we ended up having to tavel back and forth to two 3 times for it =.= I’ll show you the album in a second.Let’s just say that it was trying, and we were all very tired after the whole hoopla was over, but I now have a very nice bed and I enjoy it very much ^.^ So that’s what matters. However, I must say, this is the first time that I've ever gotten something from Ashely's Furniture, and it will no doubt be the last.

Oh, another cool note to touch on. Mom went over to my Aunt Carolyn’s Sunday after lunch. But Dad wasn’t feeling good. So, he and I stayed home, ate ice creame and watched My Big Fat Greek Wedding. OMG, that was histericle. I never get tired of that show! And Dad and I laughed so much through the whole thing. And the fact that I was watching this chick flik with Dad, and he enjoyed it just as much as Mom and I, makes it so much funnier.

Oh, Scamp finally sent me the 4th chapter of her story. And since I got my new black print cartridge, I decided to reformat the Scamp Binder. So now, I have an index of the story followed immediately by the story, then I have a divider and her character descriptions, followed by another divider and her races. It looks all official and crap and I’m very pleased with it ^___^.

Other than all that, nothing much is going on...I love my new furniture. Things are tiring, but we still make them fun somehow. See ya’ll later, Sunshines.

Holy cow...I haven’t been this sore in a long time (or if I was, I don’t remember it). Last night, we did nothing but laugh for about..*thinks* 4 hours...Reiko didn’t get there till about an hour after I did though. I got there at 5:20 ish. My throat is sore too from all the crazy laughing and the cool night air. Thank God for warm tea.

But enough about me feeling like petrified crap. Today Mom woke me at 10 to go to town. I needed to drop Reiko’s birthday present to me in the bank so I could buy something. Then we stopped at Target to see if they had any more of the art that I was hoping for but no luck there. We did find a DVD rack that was selling their DVDs for $3.98 or something like that. I got Fun with Dick & Jane, Memoirs of a Geisha, The March of the Penguins, Spiderman 2, and UltraViolet. Not a bad haul considering it was all $22 something. And that was just Target. When I got home, I ordered Races of Destiny (Dungeons & Dragons Supplement), Field of Dreams, The Pacifier, The Mists of Avalon, Pride & Prejudice, and Smokey and the Bandit Pursuit Pack. So my DVD collection just increased significantly. Probably shoulda asked around about The Mists of Avalon since I never did see it...But I figured it was only $9 so it couldn’t hurt.

I am so sore...I’m gonna go finish my black-berry tea and watch another movie.
