What State are YOU in? ^..~
2008-Aug-30, Saturday 01:49 pmAnd hello, from a very safe Harrison, Arkansas (the state of bordum, not to be confused with the state of panic – Louisiana – or the state of disaster – Florida). As much as I’d love to say that the entire visit here has been wonderful and I’ve been loving every second, it wouldn’t entirely be true. Yes, I’m loving the time I spend here with my parents (though sometimes it does get boring watching the weather channel); however, I must say, you leave home for a little surprise birthday/vacation thingy, and all hell breaks loose! Ever since I left, I’ve been getting calls from everyone asking where I am and if I know that Gustav is heading straight for my house (the bastard. Doesn’t he know is rude not to drop by when people aren’t at home?). So, while my time here has been wonderful, there is a shadow still lingering, what with my childhood home being threatened along with everything I own, and everyone I love.
In really good news, Mom loved her surprise (as I knew she would). She even liked her present (the hummingbird earrings). But she really loved me showing up. I left my house around 3:30 a.m. Thursday and I arrived at my parents’ place around 2:55. Almost 12 hours...and boy did my backside really feel the strain of the journey (and my back, and shoulders and arms and legs..). After getting everything unloaded from the car and settling in and eating a bit (I hadn’t actually eaten since 6:45 that morning =..=), we met up with their friends (who also happen to be the pastor and his wife) and headed down to the Buffalo River. It was cool, but refreshing to be weightless after all those hours of sitting in the car and…feeling weighty XD. We frolicked around for a while, and waded, and just sat in chairs in the middle of the water, just enjoyed ourselves. Then it was back home. Not much else happened that night.
Yesterday, we woke up to the weather channel, Gustav, and everyone we knew in that area either calling us or being called by us to ask about plans. We had planed on going to Branson, MO to celebrate Mom’s birthday. You know, walk around, see the sights, window shop, take in a show and eat some good food. We didn’t leave till 1ish. The car ride nearly made me sick too.. but we got there, and found that Gracie (my parents’ Garmin GPS) is amazing for finding exactly what we want. We used her quite often. We went to the IMAX which had a bunch of small stores inside it. Dad ended up buying Mom a fancy-dancy clock that plays different songs and lights up at each hour (but has a light sensor, so it won’t at night). Then we went to the Bass Pro shop...just to look around. We went to see the Presleys’ Show…the Presleys’ Country Jamboree...I’m a little wary about anything with the word “Jamboree” in it…but what the hay. It’s for Mom anyway. It was amusing, but…not really my scene. But I wasn’t there for me, right?
I’m really getting mixed reports...yesterday, Scamp had told me that she and her family were evacuating north, but today Mom said that Aunt Jane said they’re staying in Lafayette (all of 20 minutes away from where they actually live). Of course, according to all the reports gas is scarce, and all hotels in north LA have been booked up. Reiko was all freaked, because they’re making her work at PetSmart, even though the city is under mandatory evacuation. Yeah...she says she going to leave for Conway, AR today after work. She’s already moved everything essential from the first story of her apartment to the second story, so she’ll just pack everything else (her animals and what she needs) and head up on back roads.
In a way, I’m glad I got out early, because everything’s going to hell now – what with the interstates being backed up and all. But…I really wish I could’ve had more time to move my stuff around, or pack it up and bored up the windows =..= Still, there’s no use worrying about it now. Just have to wait it all out and then see what the damage is later. As of now, I have no idea when I’ll be heading back up. Dad was supposed to leave tomorrow morning early sometime to be heading back off shore...and he has no idea what his company is going to want him to do, because...well, his company isn't the greatest humanitarian group. Gustav is supposed to hit sometime Monday or Tuesday, and from what I know, they’re blocking all roads leading south (as in to South LA…where my home is =..=). I know that we won’t exactly be having work...but that we’re expected to call in to the voice mail and see if there are messages O..o yeah…whatever. Anyway, plans for traveling back are uncertain. The only plans we really have are those for today (we’ll worry about tomorrow when it gets here). We’re going to go shopping at Wal-Mart, and then my parents are going to a party tonight (but I’m going to stay home and read).
I didn’t bring enough cough drops ~..~ Talk to ya’ll later, Sunshines.

Also, Scampers has agreed to help me pack my crap up. Isn’t that nice of her? Then again, what with having about 2 weeks together with nothing to do, I’m sure we’ll need some occupation. I figure the last thing we can do, is pack up the PS2 and my 1 game just before she leaves =..=
Other than making a few new icons for
ruby_unicorn and watching a buch of things that I taped over the week...I’ve done absolutely nothing, and I intend to keep doing nothing ^..^ See ya later, sunshines!

The 11th Annual Gathering of the Gargoyles 2007
2007-Jul-12, Thursday 09:02 pm
Wow. What a long and tiresome trip. Though, I must say, it was quite enjoyable towards the end. After the first four hours, I got so bloody exhausted the giggles set in. I was still dreadfully tired, but Mom and I took turns driving. I drove from 10 to 12, and Mom said she couldn’t sleep and would rather drive. So, I tried to sleep and failed miserably. I ended up staying awake to talk to Mom and keep her awake. I ended up driving again from 3:30 to 6 ...or 7...considering that we did loose an hour when we crossed the time zone.
We picked up Jen (my Twin-san) and headed to McDonalds for breakfast. Then we made her drive the rest of the way. My God...such an excruciating task. Driving 4 hours, insanely giddy from not sleeping at all in the past 24 hours, getting more and more car sick but the miles just keep stretching on. We finally got here around 11:30 and while our room was empty, it wasn’t clean. So we waited 45 minutes till it was ready. Gotta say...this hotel has been a tad on the weird side. Forget the fact that there’s some major construction going on in the lobby, but when Mom went to check in and get the key, she mentioned to the front desk man that we had Jacuzzi and he offered to “help us test it out”...um…*fake laugh* no.
When we finally got to our room, which is on the 3rd floor, and hanging right over the pool, we unpacked a bit. Then we headed to Wal-Mart to buy things we’d need (disposable coffee cups, paper plates, cups, food stuffs, etc).I also managed to get some post cards to send to everyone back home.
So now, we’re just relaxing...occasionally watching Retrace & snacking. That’ll be all for tonight...I hope.
6-23-2007, Saturday 11:43 pm
Wow. You know, we haven’t been half as busy as we could’ve been, and yet I still haven’t written much of anything. First off I have to say…this hotel is just weird. Not only are their cracks in the balcony above us (causing rain to trickle down onto our balcony from those cracks, but Jen says she only walks around barefoot in the hotel room and her feet are black. And that’s not even mentioning what happened late Thursday night. We were getting ready for bed, and Mom had decided to let us have the king size bed and she’d take the sofa sleeper. Well first off, we couldn’t get the sleeper out of the sofa =..= So, we call for help down to the front desk and a nice chinese man comes up, takes a look around and says “I know this room. Hole in couch.” There is a hole in the back of our couch, and a tiny pointy metal thing sticks out of it! He asked for a towel, and put the towel over the whole and told us not to movie it….O..O Que? Later we found out that the toaster and blow dryer didn’t work either. Then my cousin Faren comes over, and he’s a builder, and he says this place looks like it’s about to fall apart...great. Oh well. On to the good (no great!) parts of the convention.
Friday was easy-going. I think I woke up around 8, but I didn’t actually get up till 9. Our first panel was at 11, so we didn’t need to hurry. We went to FanFic 101 with Kathy Pagge. There might’ve been 12 people there. It was a great panel and I recorded it with Zeis, learning to use my fanny pack as a base for the camera.
There are 30 minute breaks between the panels. So we went to the room for food. Then we attended a “Grimorum Making” panel. It was actually some artists/art students showing us how to make books. They’re usually used as sketch books, but you can use them as “convention books” or anything else. It was a lot of fun because everyone’s so relaxed and fun.
There was a long break between then and the “Opening Ceremonies” which was fun, if slightly excruciating. They usually have a projection screen, but this time they only had a big screen TV…of course that meant if you were sitting anywhere behind the 3rd row, you were unable to see said TV. So we all stacked our chairs on the sides of the room and sat on the floor. Jen and I kept having our legs fall asleep, even though we were on the front row. They showed us the original preview for Gargoyles given to the press when Disney decided to go ahead with the show, and they had the volume up really really loud to mimic the effect it had on the reporters. There was a lot of crashing and roaring, and when the lights came on and Greg Wiseman started out with “So...” I said “What?!”. My ears were still ringing slightly @..@ But he went on to tell us that all of the reporters had kids and Disney was releasing this ‘kids show’ that looked and sounded very scary. So the obvious question was, ‘What type of kid show is this.’ …the obvious reply was ‘It’s better than Barney ^..^ Very cool.
We were also shown the preview for Bad Guys and an Atlantis/Gargoyles crossover...and we were assured that the comic book would be a continuation of the Gargoyles series, with Pendragon, Timedancer and Bad Guys to follow. That will be something to look forward to. I’ve already bought the 4 issues of the Gargoyles comic that are out, so I can’t want to see everything else. There was so much discussed at the Opening Ceremonies, but I only taped the first part of it, because I knew a lot of it was ‘off limits’. Jen got up and just left because her legs were killing her. I followed not too long after because they didn’t last too much longer.
Now today was much the same...till evening. We attending “From Fan to Pro with Karine Charlebois. That was interesting but really better for artists. After that was “World Building” with Daroneasa, which was very fun. We all talked with her about building the worlds in our story from the ground up; everything from society to religion to families. It was great. But it only lasted till 3, so we headed back to our room. Mom and my cousins (who’d come down from their place to go sight seeing with Mom) wanted to go to the Aquarium, but they decided to wait till later because it doesn’t close till 11.
So, Jen called her boyfriend and told him about what we’d been up to. She eventually got around to telling him that I’d purchased some swords from a place called China Bazaar, and he told her that was what he wanted as a souvenir. So we headed back (and I bought a couple other things). Then we got back and went to the Aquarium. Well, we went to Gatlinburg and ate first. Then we went to the Aquarium. Twas fun, but my legs and feet were killing me. I bought Jen and me some sea turtle souvenirs.
We went back through Gatlinburg, and she got us these things from Kilwin’s...they’re rice crispie treats on a stick, dunked first in caramel then in chocolate and laced with darker chocolate. ...her Mom calls them sex-on-a-stick. We also stopped at a little shop called Lavis Jewelry that had these really cool fairies. I bought a mage-looking fairy with a crescent moon staff, and Jen bought a hanging fairy holding a hatching dragon, it’s just like the one I got for Reiko last Christmas. She said that she has a lot of dragon figures, and it wouldn’t make sense to just buy a fairy. There were some lovely dragons that both of us loved, but the smallest was $50 and the price kept going up from there O..O
6-24-2007, Sunday
Wow. What a busy day. Evidently the Radio play was pretty awesome last night (or maybe it was the blue mug..yeah, definitely the blue mug ^..^). Our first pane of Costume Tip Trading with Jennifer Anderson …turned into Costume Tip Trading with Lynati. I don’t know where the head of the panel was, but she couldn’t make it so Lynati (who’s a veteran of Gargoyles everything) took over and answered questions and included everyone. It was great…but I’m not into the costume thing. I thought Jen would enjoy it though, since she likes to cosplay a lot.
Next we went to Gargoyles Physiology & Culture, and that was headed by Greg Weisman, Lynati and Jade Griffin. That was only getting good towards the end, and then we had to leave because we were dying of hunger. But I did manage to tape all of what we did see. So that was good. I’m not so crazy about evolution, so the whole first part about their actual biology and how they may’ve evolved wasn’t thrilling. But to see Greg Weisman light up while discussing Gargoyles culture was great. It’s funny too, because he’s not an expert in biology and such so he’d ask Lynati and Jade Griffin questions like “Would that be possible?” or “This is how I see it, tell me if I’m right in my layman’s terms.” It was really great.
We had wanted to go to the Bad Guys panel that was going to be a showcase for the upcoming Bad Guys comic, but we ended up being late, and then decided we’d rather not disturb them and walk in right in the middle. That was a bit of a bummer, but hey, we had to get food @..@
The Banquet was fun. We had one of the girls who joined the “Order of the Phoenix Gate” sitting at our table. Turns out, Thom Adcox had decided to get a tattoo after one of his panels. Well the people in the panel were like “What’re you doing now Thom?” and he said “I’m going to get a tattoo.” So they all went and got the same tattoo of the phoenix gate. The girls got it on the small of their backs and the guys got it on their bicep except for Thom who got it on his ankle. It was pretty sweet. I have to say, that’d be one awesome tattoo to get, and I don’t even like tattoos that much. *shrugs*. After seeing that, Jen was itching to go out and get a tattoo. I think she must’ve thought about it the whole time we were at the table ^..^ I don’t even know the names of the people at my table, but they were all cool. There was one girl that actually had a tattoo of wings coming out from her shoulder blades. That was uber leet as well. The only thing that was annoying was that there was one girl (whom I shall not name) who kept barraging the guests with questions, mostly about Puck and all running together. At one point I leaned over and said “Maybe one of us should ask what Puck’s favorite color is before she gets the chance to ask another 3 questions.” It was annoying, but funny at the same time.
We headed to the room again for the break between things, and a storm cropped up. It wasn’t mush, just a bit of rain with high winds and thunder and lightning. Of course, this hotel is so shoddy that the door started shaking. Jen was on the phone with her boyfriend, and she was laying on one side of our king size bed while I was on the other side writing post cards. The wind kicked up, and suddenly she’s launched herself into my lap O..O Twas amusing. Then she says to her boyfriend that “It’s like a hurricane outside!” and I’m like “Turst me, hon. This is not hurricane worthy ^..^” That made it even funnier.
The Masquerade was fun, but shorter than I thought it’d be. We did get there early, just to make sure we’d have good seats. Of course, Jen’s camera died 3 seconds into the whole thing =..= Oh, and of course, we were sitting in front of a lot of uber leet people, and I was too paralyzed to introduce myself. I just figured I’d be bothering them. I mean, they came to have fun at the gathering, not be pestered by some fangirl . So, I held my tongue and place and just watched the Masquerade. I tell you what, they had a lot of really nice dresses on the contestants (that I’d never have the courage to wear), but the Gargoyle that won for best in show was just awesomeness on a stick. And they had a lady that was a “Belly Dancing Fae” and let me tell you, she could really belly dance well for a lady her age. I hope I have that much control over my body in 20 years =..= She was awesomeness. It really made me want to get those belly-dancing pants that I’d see in the dealers room too. But alas, my Jen had inquired about them and the lady had only brought one. Anyway, after the awards were given out, we left. We’re not good dancers (or minglers evidently >..<).
Oh yeah, speaking of the Dealers room, we had so much fun there (and I spent a lot of money there). I bought 2 chain-mail bracelets from Vox, a ‘sea horse’ painting from kth-dragon, and a fairy painting for Jen. It’s really great to buy from artists directly, because they’re always so happy that you’re buying from them. We spend a lot of time there just talking and hanging out. There was a beautiful replica of the Phoenix gate that was a necklace, and I really wanted it, but it was up for auction, and we weren’t staying that long, and I didn’t have the money for it anyway. The artist alley was pretty cool too. I recognized a lot of stuff from artists I've admired for such a long time. It's a little sad that this is our last day too. On one hand I really wish I could stay, but I know it's not at all practical. Ah well. Such is life I suppose.
6-25-2007, Monday
Probably the most miserable day, but only because I get so car sick and we were traveling all damn day. We decided to leave that morning, if only because we had spent so much money and we just really needed to get home. So, we left around 10 that morning, after loading the car down with all our crap + all the crap we bought ^..^ We headed to Gatlinburg as a favor for a friend. Lori had given me money to buy her some wine. It’s her favorite and it’s only sold in that area. So we go and find it…and they don’t have it. It wouldn’t be ready for two more weeks. Le sigh. It would’ve been a total loss except that we saw a pet store right next door, and the owner had her pets in the store with her. I love those types of shops. I got myself a Doxxie shirt, and I think Jen got herself a English Bulldog shirt, pen and bookmark...she and I are such dorks. We’re not even dog owners yet! But anyway.
We drove for hours till we finally got to Atlanta. Jen drove the whole way (thank God). And we ended up leaving Atlanta right in the middle of rush hour traffic. We were not happy campers. It took us about an hour to 45 minutes to get out of Atlanta. Just down-town Atlanta, not the whole city, mind you. I think we left around 3:30 or 4ish, and Mom drove for a while, but she wasn’t feeling great. I was borderline panic-attacking, so I just laid back and tried to relax. We pulled off around 5 to go to the bathroom and get some nachos and cheese (gotta have the basics), and I took over driving. I drove from 5 to 11 that night, and we were about 60 miles away from New Orleans when we pulled over to get gas. Mom took over after that, and I just stayed up to keep her company and talk. We got home around 12:30ish a.m. I think I showered, and then went to sleep. We woke up…I think at 12 p.m. We were unpacked and happy…even if the day was very short. I guess it made up for the day before that was so damn loooong.
That has been my gathering experience. I enjoyed it if only because I got to spend a lot of time with Jen. Spending tons of money on cool swag was fun too ^..~

2007-May-29, Tuesday 02:55 pm
Ok, enough of that. The weekend was nice...Any day I don’t have to wake up at 5:45 is a good day. Saturday, Scampers went home. Her parents and older brother Josh came over. Josh played some WoW. We talked a lot. Ate. Uncle Steve went over and looked at the Nexus and gave Mom a page full of stuff that we need to remember. He said if the house is empty as it is now, he can paint the whole thing in one day. That’s very promising. We had wanted to go with paneling upstairs because the paint keeps peeling, but he says that it’d be cheaper and easier to just spray on that stuff that we have on our ceilings now (popcorn ceiling). He says he can smooth it all out and it’ll be all professional. I wonder if we can paint it...I hope so.
After they all hightailed it, Mom and I decided we should go shopping. I had seen some nice tank tops in the JC Penny’s catalog that I wanted to see about getting. We were disappointed to find them in the juniors section. But we reasoned that if we got an XL, it’d fit. Well, it didn’t =.= So, we’re gonna end up returning 4 tops if we can. We did find some uber cool PJs for me. That was nice. We then went to Target and I bought a bunch of crap (and Mom did too!). I got Firefly, Pan’s Labyrinth, Second Hand Lions, and Robin Hood: Men in Tights. I now have a desire to buy as many Mel Brooks movies as I can lay my hands on ^.^ And Second Hand Lions is still one of the best movies. I’m still not sure if I liked Pan’s Labyrinth….it was beautifully made, and the Spanish language really embellishes it…but, I’m not sure if the ending was really a good one, or if the end justifies the means. It’s just…disappointing. Firefly is still coolness on a stick. I can’t see why anyone would’ve canceled that.
Speaking of disappointments, saw Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End with Mom and Scampers Friday night. /sigh …thanks a lot Disney. Sorry, but I didn’t enjoy the ending. It was all good…until the end. Hate what they did with the Turners. And another thing… um, Disney? Why does everyone of importance on the boat have to scream “FIRE!!” before the cannons can fire? I’m just curious.…I mean, is there a contract somewhere? Or is that just your way of expressing chain of command or something? I Loved Jack. That never will change. Gotta love Jack. Scampers tells me that they’re thinking about making two more movies about just him, and they’ll be like a prequel and a sequel. That’d be much coolness.
I worked a bit on my web site Monday as shocking as that sounds. I’ve been tweaking things quietly for a while now, but just recently I took down the hidden “Original” section that was all about my story and world, and I started working on my Warcraft section. It’s made me want to redesign my City of Heroes section too. I only just noticed that all of the characters that I have up there, are characters from my first run with CoH…So, I might-should update at least the characters that I actually had the last time I played =.=
Mom and I were talking the other day, mostly about our future plans and all. She said that eventually, she and Dad want to travel a bit before he retires (while they can still afford it). There’s a lot of the country that they still haven’t seen, and Mom’s always wanted to sorta tour the US. She was saying that Dad asked her not to get a dog while they’re traveling around (which is totally weird, because Mom’s the last person to have a dog when she’s home in every-day life much less when she’s traveling all over). And she said that while they didn’t want to get a dog, it might be a good idea for me to get one, at least as a guard dog and companion while they’re away. I am on the back half of the two acres and all. Mom and I searched for Large Breed Dogs, and we found a web site that has information about Giant breeds and Lage breeds and even some medium breeds. It has their temperament and such on there along with how they look and what they were bred for.
I think I’ve finally decided….on a Great Dane. I want to get a great dane puppy ^.^ So, that means I’ll be tracking down my cousin Angel to pick her brain about the breed, what type of nutrition and training they’d need and all that. I figure, I’ve got at least an acre to myself and I know my parents don’t mind sharing it with me, so I’ve got plenty of room to exercise her. I think Angel works at Pet Smart with obedience classes and such, so I could start with that while she’s a pup and then keep up the training at home. Plus the temperament is perfect for what I want…and it’d be real nice to have a dog to come home to. The only thing I really want to check out is if the pen that Uncle Charles gave me is big enough for the dog when she’s full size. I’m thinking that I can leave the dog there when I go out to work, and then come home and exercise with the dog by walking or playing or whatever. Then it’ll be time to fix supper and eat. I’m also thinking that if I fix the dog’s food before mine, she’ll be so busy eating, she might not pay me any mind while I fix my food. So…I need to know about space, food, training, and any other needs the dog may have...Should be a piece of cake ^.^
Oh, and guess what? Chibi's home! Yeah, my 'Mouto-san's finally come back. We've talked about getting together sometime this Saturday. I'll have to call Reiko and see if/when she can make it. So, I'm wondering. I had these gifts that I had wanted to give them for Christmas last year, but I forgot that they were there (there was so many other things to remember!). So I'm wondering if I should just give them that now or wait till Christmas again....
I was just thinking how interesting it’d look if I got all set up and I got my dog and all, and then if Scamp came to visit (which I’m sure she will) with her dogs….that’d be a funny picture.
I guess that’s all for now...I can’t think of anything else to write. Pay day comes at the end of this week…so I’ll be broke again soon ^.^ Later, sunshines.

Summer Cleaning
2006-Jun-03, Saturday 09:46 pmBeware, for I am:
Productive
Well today was a good day. Woke up to an empty house (I love it when I have the house all to myself), then after breakfast, I started cleaning. I managed to get my closet (or at least the bottom of it) all sorted out so it doesn’t look like a dumping ground. I also cleaned up the rest of the room, though it’s not as clean as I’d like. I’ve still got tomorrow though. I’m hoping to finally get some of those bins to go under my bed. The last ones we got were too big and wouldn’t fit. I now know that anything over 9 inches high is too tall. But the ones we did get have made my closet look nice, so that’s something. I put my fabric that’d been overflowing from my old sewing kit into one and the left-over batting I have in the other. Next I’ll work on moving the books I want under my bed and getting my movie closet sorted out nicely. But for now, I’m going to go shower and then continue watching Firefly as I it’s the only other thing I’ve been doing all day. Later!

PS: I just found out the next Gathering of the Gargoyles will be held in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. My Mom loves Tennessee and I love Gargoyles! This is a perfect excuse to take a trip! And since it’s in 2007, I’ll have plenty of time to save!
Exodus Escapades
2005-Jul-12, Tuesday 11:25 pmOk...We’re going home. Aunt Carolyn and Uncle George came over to tell us that Aunt Tony’s sick, and that Kim’s husband got bitten by a bunch of ants and went in to epileptic shock. So, we’re not going over there. We’re going home. Thank God Almighty. Hopefully, I’ll be typing all this up tonight. Oh, we gotta go. Later!
We’ve been on the road for a couple of hour so far. Mom gave me a xanax at 11:15 and it just started to kick in. We just stopped at a little truck stop to use the bathroom...and the car battery died...talk about weird. Please don’t let this be a sign. Dad’s gone to see if anyone has some jumper cables.
...the car lives, and I am drugged. Goodnight for now.
We’ve reached the nearest Sam’s and we’re somewhere in Texas...don’t ask me how, I was sleeping the whole way. They’re gonna replace our battery with a new one. Really really groggy. I just wanna sleep and wake up at the house! Oh well...
Our car lives again and is as good as now. Goodnight again till...whenever.
LAND!
MM ~.~
Tomorrow, we will get up, eat breakfast, pack up everything and meet up with everyone to go to Kim’s house. I so just want to be home. I’ve lost track of all the times I got carsick over the past 2 days. And I hate it when I don’t feel good, ‘cause then I complain, and I hate it when I complain! Ok...shutting up now. Goodnight.
We got to my Cousin’s house somewhere between 4:00 and 4:20. Let me explain the whole cousin thing...My first cousins are Mr. Billy who is too old to call Billy, but it seems weird to call him Mr. Billy, so I call him Uncle Billy. His kids, Kim, Kerry, and Andrew are my second cousins; however, both Kim and Kerry are older than even me, and have long since moved out. But anyway...back to the entry. Andrew and I busied ourselves on his computer playing various games (or him playing games and us watching.), me showing them the stuff on my flash drive, and just gabbing away about nothing.
Then we went to their church. I brought my notebook and binder...but Andrew’s friend (Jake) got a hold of the binder and kept asking me what everything in it was and saying things like “That’s so cool!”...I think I found my first fan in an 11 year-old Arkansas boy...
Then, after church, we all went to McDonalds. We talked, we laughed, we cut up, but most importantly, we ate. It is now late 9ish early 10ish, and we are happily hooked up in the Howard Johnson hotel...watching the damage Dennis did to everyone else but us. Much sympathy to [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] and [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] and...anyone else in Dennis’s way. I don’t think I know anyone in the Mississippi/Alabama/North Flordia area.
Well...guess I’m off to shower. My parents probably want to get up early tomorrow...sadists...
What did Arkan saw?
2005-Jul-09, Saturday 08:58 pmHA! Success! Phew...that on-screen keyboard was interesting for a while, but it really sucked as far as for getting the job done. Ok, so I’ve got my key board back. Now, onto other things.
OK, so, today at Chibi’s we watched ROTK, and it only took us 5 hours & 15 min. She’s drawing some fairies for me for my web site, and I explained what I wanted them to look like. And my mom had called somewhere in there to inform me that we were going to be going to Arkansas...tomorrow...at 0600 hours...Lovely. So After all that I went home to pack and get ready for our trip tomorrow.
So now, I’ve rushed home, I finished loading everything on to my jump drive that I want to take with me in case Andrew’s interested in some of this stuff. I also finished the Sloth quiz. Everyone should go take it and tell me what they got! I made 2 quizzes one’s the Sloths’ Quiz for the Sloths Gone Mad web site. Then there’s the EQ Quiz which is much older, but still just as cool. So, if you be friends...go and take my quizzes and then post your results here! It’s the most sincere form of flattery...for someone who makes quizzes.
Ok so, other than that and packing, and figuring out if I can fit into my old bathing suit (Success on that btw), I’ve done nothing but glare at this computer. We will be gone for a few days, so that means I’ll either
A) Not be posting till we get back.
B) Write down what I want to post for later in a notebook.
C) Figure out if they have the internet over there and post from there.
So, coment and send me e-mail so that I’ll feel loved when I get back. K? Big kiss. Mmmwa!

Your Beauty lies
in Nature. Down to earth, laid back and a natural
beauty. You have no need for
make-up or accessories that most others do. In fact
you most likely find them a
nuisance. You are probably a little tom-boyish in
your jeans and tees with a
great love for nature. You probably know more about
plants and animals than most
people and you'd rather spend your times outdoors
and in the sun, independent
and free. You can be a bit distant with people,
preferring the company of
animals over people, which isn't always the best
thing. You can be kind and
sweet, but not many see that side of you as you
often have misunderstandings
with people. You are very go-with-the-flow sort of
person and usually try to
avoid fights even if it means changing your opinion
or belief. Still, you are
you look your best actually without make-up and in
casual clothes. Very few can
say that. Be proud.

What I’ve learned
2005-Jun-12, Sunday 08:20 pm| - | Complaints |
| + | Compliments |
| * | Observations |
1) – People Are Somewhat Narrowminded. People here see things from their own viewpoint, and take no interest in learning anything else really. This makes explaining new concepts to them difficult, and even if you manage it, they usually forget whatever it was you told them.
2) – Unfriendly To Strangers. Up here, if you’re a stranger, you’re a stranger. That’s it. People rarely go out of their way to start up a conversation with strangers, tending to just ignore them. So one really has to work hard to be part of the fold.
3) + Very Friendly to Friends & Family. Once everyone knows you, you have friends for life. Everyone does everything in their power to keep each other comfortable and happy. We were staying at Aunt Wanda Sue’s, unchaperoned and we had mentioned going to the store to buy food. She told us she had a well stocked fridge, and that we should make use of it.
4) + My Family is Riot. I actually have more fun with my Aunts than my cousins. The younger generation is...just not my type of people. Also, they’re really young, so every time I come back they’re different. My Aunts are timeless. They’re always fun and caring, willing to pick and completely crazy.
5) * Everyone Has Satellite Dishes. That’s right. Everyone. The short explanation is that people out here are so out in the middle of no where and so far apart, the able companies wont come to them...*shrug*
6) * Back Roads are Long, Winding, and Numerous. There are literally miles upon miles upon miles of nothing but back roads and open space. These roads are long, damaged and usually have no speed limit. This results in excess speed, driving in the middle of the road, and whip-lash surprise sudden turns.
7) * Traffic is Nonexistent. This applies especially to the back roads. On back roads, if you see three vehicles in 45 minutes or on the same road, it’s considered heavy traffic. There was one stop light in St. Joe...but it was removed because it wasn’t needed...
Thanks for joining me for this list of lesions from the boondocks.
We headed for Uncle Harvey’s house around 5:00 p.m. as noted before. At fires it seemed like it’d just be boring, but then everyone got there (Aunt Pam, Aunt Nelda Jean, Aunt Deany, and all the kids). My dad got the camera out, and , after many setbacks with the connection wires, we showed everyone our home videos of our previous vacations here. Everyone laughed at how young all the ‘kids’ looked and our antics.
Then Dad and I started taping everyone there. It was fun. Mom and Dad startled wrestling outside, and everyone joined in causing a weird dog pile. We filmed a bunch of things, and then...Dad brought out the new-fangled Uno game. It turned into a full-scale war, with no real winner.
As everyone was gathering everything to leave, my Aunts asked my Dad what our plans were for tomorrow. He informed everyone (including Mom and me) that we were heading to Jena to see a friend of his from work – a Charlie – and we’d go to night service with him. To which I coolly retorted,
“You can go to church with Charlie.”
Everyone giggled for a good ten minutes about that. Then we left, got here, and showered. I let Mom and Dad shower first, ‘cause I know I take forever – at least I comparison to them. And now, it’s is most definitely time for bed.
Charlie doesn’t get out of church till around noon tomorrow; so, the plan is not to leave till around 11 or something. But God only knows what will really happen. With any luck, I’ll be typing all this up sometime tomorrow. Goodnight
Cooters Point
2005-Jun-10, Friday 10:00 pm
Yo, from Cooters Point. Today was probably one of the longest days I’ve had when I didn’t have to go to work. We all woke up at 5:30 a.m. (madness!), got dressed, loaded the car up, and headed for I Hop. We’d never had an I Hop breakfast, and though it was expensive, it was also very scrumptious.
We probably hit the road around 6:45 since it never takes long for us to eat or get full. I jumped in the back seat and put my headphones on. Listened to my new Destiny’s Child CD twice, and then listened to about eight others. We pulled over for a bathroom break and after that I alternated between sleeping (or trying to) and listening to my music with the occasional playful banter with the rents in between.
We got to Uncle Harvey’s house around 1:00 p.m. We stayed, we visited, we took off to borrow some DVDs, and I finally saw Identity. Gotta say, pretty good movie. ‘Bout half way through I’d figured it out, but it was still really cool. Very original. Anyway, Uncle Harvey wanted to head to the Shiloh camp ground on Lake Bruin, on account of how many of the relatives were gonna be gatherin’ there. Kinda a pre-reunion hang out, really.
Ok, first I have to say, having a family reunion out doors in the beginning of June...not too smart. There was a bit of a breeze blowing off of the lake, but it wasn’t steady or cool enough. So, Mom and I spent about 3 hours doing nothing but sweat. There’s a nice visual for ya. Honestly! I can understand no one having the money to get an indoor, air conditioned facility, but if it must be outdoors, don’t have it in summer!
But anyway...After doing very little but being ignored by people who didn’t know us, they served the food. Of course, I had forgotten to take my meds for my digestive system, so the only thing I could eat was a roll. The entire time Dad kept saying, ‘We’ll leave in a couple of minutes.’ to Mom At 6:47 I put my food town, He tried the ‘few minutes’ line and I was like, ‘We’re leaving. Now.’ He laughed, but we did leave.
We went to the closest ‘shopping center’, which consisted of a grocery story and a Dollar General. But he Dollar General closed at 7:00...wtf, mates? We did get what we needed at the grocery store though, and then came over to Aunt Wanda Sue’s house. Uncle J.E. and Aunt Wanda Sue are staying on the camp they own at Lake Bruin with some friends; so, they invited us to stay at their house. I love this house...Sure, it isn’t huge or extravagant, but it’s really just so cozy and nice. The reason it’s so nice is ‘cause their old house brunt to a cinder, and they’ve been able to rebuild it completely.
Her shower alone is amazing. That’s right, I’m gonna have a separate paragraph for the shower. For one thing, the ‘bench’ is actually comfortable. You know how they have benches in showers that are like half a foot long? Well this bench extends more than 2 feet, so your never worry about loosing your balance and slipping. It makes things much more comfortable too. Also, the bench is positioned far enough back from the shower head, so you don’t have to worry about getting sprayed while lathering up for body wash or shaving cream or whatever. There’s a shelf just by the bench, so you can line up your stuff, sit down, and grab as you need. And the shower has a long neck so you can sit and lather up, then reach up and grab it and spray yourself while you’re still sitting down. I could go one, but I’ll be nice and spare you...or something.
Ok after showering and eating and watching a food network countdown (and drooling all the while), I am pretty much ready for bed. And now, here I am. I was so unhappy at the reunion, Dad suggested I not go tomorrow. Which is fine with me really. Most of the people there I don’t know, and they don’t see me as family. We’re only related through the marriage of my Aunt...and she’s passed away now. I’ve never been that social -.-
Coming up here really has been bitter-sweet. In the past, we always came to ‘visit with Aunt Irene and Uncle Harvey’, and now part of that is gone. She was my grandmother’s sister, and when I chose to think about it, it renews the pain of losing my only grandparent. Everyone seems to be doing really well though. Uncle Harvey talks about Aunt Irene all the time, and there are pictures of them together on every wall along with the pictures of their many kids and grand kids (they had ten kids!). Though it’s very sad, it does inspire much hope; like a simple lesion that though life will never be the same, it does go on.
And, on that note, I’ll finish this. My meds are kicking in, and my arm is getting tired. Goodnight.
