I have arrived, I shall now collapse
2009-Sep-15, Tuesday 09:25 pmGod, I forgot how much I love good hotel living =..= I fully intend to be relaxing the morning away here.
So, after leaving the house this morning around 4am, we drove all the way here... I think we got here around 3... I was very sick, but I drove a lot... mostly because I hate to let Mom down and I know she doesn't like traveling any more than I do. It rained torrentially until Shreveport, and if it wasn't rain it was pea soup fog. After Shreveport, we managed to hit it in waves... which I suppose was a break. I love rain, and I don't mind driving in it, but it does make things a tad more difficult.
We finally arrived at Bernadine's...and my cough seemed to come back with a vengeance. I hate to say it, but I think my allergy to cigarette smoke aggravated my already tired respiratory system =..= I tried to just put on a brave face and be myself (the entertainer), but the fact remains that I am still running a low grade fever. So, I'm not sick enough to be rushed to any hospital (thank God) for medical intervention, but I'm just sick enough to feel like petrified crap skewered on a stick. Lovely.
Mom decided to book a hotel room for the night. This place called Candlewood Suites is really nice (there will be pictures). And Mom said she stayed here last time she visited Bernadine, so we knew it'd be good.
Mom and I just bought some cereal, milk and a banana from the hotel's 'cupboard', all of which cost about $3.25, and now that we've finished watching Beauty Shop (reaffirming my love for Queen Latifah), we're bedding down for the night. I intend to sleep as late as I possibly can tomorrow and just stay in here until check out... Hopefully that'll give me the rest I need to get fully on the mend :)
Mom's through with her shower now, so I guess I'll go ahead and sign off. This'll probably be my last entry (excluding my Twitter addiction) until after the family reunion... I can't imagine I'll have much to really say tomrrow. So, Goodnight, Sunshines.
Your Blue Eyes Say You're Calm and Confident |

From Big Showers to Missing Forks
2008-Dec-26, Friday 08:20 amThis is perhaps the best hotel I’ve ever stayed at. I’d gotten accustom to the fact that no matter how nice the room is, something will invariably go wrong, and you will long for home. Not here. Last night the shower I took was awesome, and I’d be willing to say that it was better then some that I’ve taken at home. And the bed? Ok, 4 big feathery pillows and a very very sturdy yet comfortable bed to sleep in...that’s hospitality. So over all, considering this is just Holiday Inn and not a Holiday Inn Express (which, would make me smarter), I’d have to say this is the best hotel stay I’ve ever had.
That being said....you know, I think there comes a time in everyone’s life, at least once but sometimes more often, in which you encounter something so sophisticated and different from what you’re used to dealing with, that it makes you feel a little...or a lot stupid. Sometimes it’s a computer or technical gadget. Other times it can be something more simple that you’ve seen a thousand times, but this time it’s design is slightly different and thus it confuses you.
It took me about 15 minutes last night before I could figure this shower out -..-’ I was very excited about the prospect of taking a shower, but then as I got to looking at the tub...I realised there was no push/pull lever to turn the function of the bath tub into a shower. I looked around the room. I sat in the tub. I inspected the shower nozzle. Heck, I even inspected the drain. Nothing that I could see to turn this tub into a shower. Finally, I’m sitting there in the tub and I notice that the nozzle on the faucet rotates >..> I twirled it around...I pushed it up, nothing. So, I figured, I’d go ahead and shave my legs and get ready for a bath since the shower thing was still eluding me. After my legs are smooth, I turn on the water and then decide to fool with that faucet again. While the water’s running, I can pull down, and when I do - Bingo! Water starts coming out of the shower head. I was elated, but by then I felt like a fool for not trying that first! :D
Oh, and you know something? We go through our busy lives marvelling at the great big things in them that make them seem so grand.....I’d like to take this time, to pay homage to the humble fork. The fork is a useful tool, we use one every day. Still you don’t see anyone saying “Thank goodness for forks!” (unless they're a Twilight fan). So, here’s to you Fork. I had to do without you last night, and it made me see how valuable you are in my life.
That’ll be all of the early morning ranting, folks. My travel-lagging, sleep deprived brain has been overruled by my empty stomach. I’ma go scrounge up some breakfast and see what there is to see today. Later, Sunshines.
You Have a Grudge Against Your Family |
![]() You are very quick to forgive your family for wrongdoings. You don't expect them to be perfect, and you try to help them out whenever it's possible. You have confidence in your family to take care of itself and make good decisions. You especially have this confidence in the younger generation. You still feel resentful for certain things your family has done in the past. It's hard for you to forgive and forget. You tend to be the rock in your family. You support everyone in their times of need, and they take your advice seriously. |

We got some class up in here!!
2008-Dec-25, Thursday 03:55 pmWe just checked in to the Holiday Inn in Houma...zomg....we some classy chicas now! This place is so awesome! I can’t wait to take pictures and get home so I can post them O..O This beats the Hilton by miles...really. I told Mom, “Dadgum, but we da hill billies come to town!” :D! S’nice XD
.........Oh. I got a call from my Twin! Yeah...it was like...uh...an hour before...uh...I went to see Twilight (for the 3rd time =..=....Shattup!). Anyway! She called to wish me a Merry Christmas. Lots of peoplez has been doing that today >_> hmm. So, we talked for a few minutes while I was waiting for the “Now Seating” light to come on. I got a text from Chibi too wishing me Merry Christmas. I let her know what room we were in. Oh yeah, got a text from Bubba, too; it was a Merry Christmas, so I sent one back “Merry Christmas, ya filthy animal.” because, yeah I totally over dose on Home Alone. To my surprise, he texted back, “Get down on your knees and tell me you love me. OOPS. Getting ahead of myself there!” or something like that. After I stopped rolling around on the ground, I texted back “ ‘And a Happy New Year’ to you too >_>”. Twas funny.
While Mom and Aunt Batty went to see a movie, I killed time by seeing Twilight, for the third time as I mentioned before. Funny how no matter how many times you watch ‘em, they always end the same :). I was really early for the showing, and I got to talk to Holly, who worked at the Palace before I even got in there. She’s a manager now. It was good to see her again. I know she and Travis still work there, but I think pretty much everyone else I knew there has moved on. The General managers are famous for going there to get fired (as opposed to going there to die). She said they’ve improved their record, because recently they got a GM and he left by way of transfer as opposed to being fired. I suppose you have to start somewhere :D.
....Oh. And Mom bought Aunt Batty a gift, which from what I gather they’d agreed no gifts, so she gave me a scrapbook starter! I was so happy! I had told Mom that I wanted to do a family scrapbook for her, and I just finished one and I wouldn’t know where to start. But this scrapbook actually matches a quilt Aunt Batty had made for Mom, so it kinda goes with her room. So we’ll just take it from there! I’m excited about that now.
I wish we could stay in this room the entire time we’ll be here =..= Oh well. There are things we still have to do. My cell phone needs some serious charging - I turned it off in the movie and when I got out and turned it on to call Mom, the battery was red and empty o..o. I’m tired, but I’m also happy to be here and really enjoying the place (let’s hope that continues). Later, Sunshines!
You Spread Some Holiday Cheer |
![]() You do your best to give time, money, and joy during the holidays. You don't always spread cheer to everyone, but you do the best. Unlike most people, you actually spend time reflecting on the meaning of the holidays. And you worry more about doing the right thing than getting the right presents. |
