I hate that I keep posting about my most recent social gatherings, but…there really isn’t much else to talk about. Last night was the first movie-night with people other than my parents. I invited Jodie and Casey (and there’s little Tot Cadin, of course), C.J. and Kayla and Bubba. Casey called me at work to let me know that they weren’t going to be able to make it, because Jodie had a bad day at work and just wanted to rest…which is just as well considering how we carried on.

C.J., Bubba and Kayla all arrived around 6:30. I showed them around the house a bit, and asked what type of pizza they wanted. I went in the back and just ordered the pizza online (because Domino’s is cool like that), and I hear muffled voices. And then I hear Harvey (my Roomba) starting up and starting to sweep about and various cries of “Oh my God!”, “That’s Amazing!”, “It’s the most incredible thing I’ve ever seen!” and stuff in that general direction. I came in and explained that that was Harvey and he was my Roomba. They thought it was amazing. I told them I was going to try and get the Scooba, which was the ‘mop’ version, which was another round of amazement. They also wanted an explanation of my Fly Fusion pen. They thought that was cool too.

They all loved my house, which tickled me. They said it suited me...which, most people say the same thing. They had plenty of ideas of really cool things to add into the house…most of which involved suspending things from the beams/ceiling/walls…there was mention of suspending chairs from the beams in swing fashion, there was also something about making the area above the beams a huge suspended aquarium (that people could swim in). C.J. even mentioned something about a rope ladder suspended from the second story into the living room..…I told him I’d get right to work on that. They liked my swords, lamps and the configuration of everything….or they were just being very polite ^..^

We talked for a while, waiting for the pizza to show up. I had a print out of the movies that I have and box sets and anime as well; and, they had plenty to say about a few of the things I own. Bubba has never seen The Pagemaster, so we said we’d have to make that the feature for our next movie night (though we all agreed that next time, we should plan for a Friday or Saturday movie night). We carried on, talking about everything and nothing, but it was getting close to 7, so I decided to pop the movie in (sure enough, Pizza man showed up right as the opening credits were rolling). I’d ordered quite a bit...3 large pizzas (MeatZZa, cheese, and hawaiian, then I ordered Breadsticks, Cheesy Bread, Cinna Stix...yeah...no one was going hungry. Not last night). We paused the movie, we gathered up food, and then sat down to watch the movie.

We started with Raiders of the Lost Ark and then moved on to Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (as it should be!). There was much laughter, because we can’t keep quiet…EVER. Indiana Jones will never be the same, and I honestly wouldn’t change that for the world. Other than the fact that the movies seemed long (and this was probably because I didn’t have a good night’s sleep Wednesday night and I was tired), I found it quiet enjoyable. You can see where a lot of other movies have followed in the footsteps of these characters and drawn inspiration from this adventure. I’m not so sure I enjoyed the geeky-looking professor by day, tomb raider by night persona in the first movie….but, it’s all good. Harrison Ford is nice to look at no matter what he’s wearing. The second movie was possibly better (or worse…?) than the first...there were so many things I liked about it, but I don’t really like it when they add bits of romance into an action when it doesn’t really…need it. It’s almost like they’re throwing that in there just to appease a certain type of audience. In fact, I’m not terribly into girls being in an action movie if all they’re going to do is be the damsel in distress…At some point it becomes a cliché, like Indiana Jones has Bond Girls...It was kind of interesting to see Karen Allen in the Lost Ark, because I know she’s going to be in the new movie. Though I absolutely detested Kate Capshaw’s character ‘Willie’ in the Temple of Doom. And Jonathan Ke Quan is just awesomness. Seeing him made me want to watch The Goonies again ^..^

Oh! Also, I have this little…toy…thing. It’s this round thing that has a pair of eyes and little …tendrils? I guess...It’s hard to describe. But it’s purple with the tentacles thingies having some green tips and just these buggy eyes. I discovered that on one end, two of the tentacles come together to form a loop, so you can bounce him like a yo-yo, only more easily. Well, I named him Alfred, because …well, that’s what I do. And at some point, I’m bouncing Alfred, and he hits my hand really hard and starts flashing red and blue. I stare at him, wide-eyed and open-mouthed and say “Alfred! This is a side of you I’ve never seen!” in sheer wonder. Which, of course, I stop and then hear what I just SAID and I crack up. Kayla and Bubba have already dissolved into giggles, which just made things funnier. We must’ve laughed for a good 5 minutes. They were laughing, not only at what I said, but the fact that I’ve had my little toy for about 2 months now and I had no idea it could do that!

After Temple of Doom Kayla said she couldn’t stay because she had work at 7:30 the next day; and with a quick check to the clock, I was shocked to see it was around 11:30. Of course, since I had to get up at 5:30, I knew I’d be in for another long day today. Bubba was all geared up to watch the next one though…C.J….well, C.J. certainly wouldn’t have minded, since he fell asleep somewhere in the middle of Lost Ark ^..^ At some point between the two movies, I tip toed over to his chair and put the vibrating message thing on, and he didn’t even stir. But he woke up for the end of Temple of Doom. Then after a small, “oh, what fun!” session, they all headed out. I showered and went off to bed. I cannot tell you how tired I was, crawling into bed at 12:45 =..= Or for that matter, waking up at 5:30 for that matter. But, again, I wouldn’t change anything. It was, indeed, a fun time had by all…..except maybe C.J., though I’m sure he did enjoy his nap.

Now….when to schedule another one…There are so many new movies coming out that it’s hard to figure out when to have one! On the 6th is Kung Fu Panda, then the 13th is Incredible Hulk and then the 20th is Get Smart and the 27th is Wall-E. Oh, and July? Yeah, we got Hellboy 2 on the 11th, The Dark Knight on the 18th and then X-Files on the 25th!...not that I need to see all of them on the day they come out or anything…but you get my point. I find that this group uses MySpace a lot...and my interaction on MySpace is very limited since I deleted my last profile…so I’m gonna have to get back into that world. Unfortunately…my work computer has MySpace blocked =..= curses, foiled again. Now that I know the test-flight went really well, I’m definitely going to have to invite more people next time.

Ok…my brain is totally fried and totally wandering off so I’m gonna go head and stop now. Later, Sunshines!
