The Hell Hole I dug...
2002-Nov-09, Saturday 01:36 amHey Mina. No things aren’t as bad as the title would sound...but they’re pretty damn close. I just got back from the Palace working 6:30 to Close which was about 11:30 or so. My feet, calves and legs all ache. When I try walking I have to do so very slowly, ‘cause the bottom of my feet feel like giant bruises, and all the muscles in my calves and thighs are sore as hell. And I’m not gonna even start on my lower back.
I’m seriously trying so hard to look on the bright side. So let’s see. I got in clocking on at 6:25PM. Walked through the scullery and noticed that the first popper was a mess...no it was worse than a mess. Then of course Kiley decided to put me on register which I always hated. Worked that as best I could—which wasn’t that great at all—everything was new except the popcorn sizes and Icee things. Except it’s not Icee’s any more it’s...Artic Freeze?...or something. After the rush I went in the scullery and worked with Summer—a boisterous, out spoken young women whom I’ve decided I’m going to try to like—and we made nachos for a while. Then I started doing the dishes for a while till Kiley asked me to get back on register. Got there for about an hour or so and then when the rush tampered off I tried to sweep but they had to clean out poppers and that’s pretty much useless. So I got all the dirty dishes and took them in back to clean...except they kept bringing in dirty dishes and the girl from café kept stealing the sponge so it took me twice as long just to wash my dishes. The only really good thing that happened all night was that I got to take home a strawberry Icee and two hot dogs.
That’s pretty much my evening. Before I took my shower I had butter and oil soaked into my skin so much it was near water resistant. My feet still hurt, and I’ve gotta wake up at 8 for a meeting at 9. Then there’s a wonderful English test to look forward to on Monday. But I’m going to bed now. I still have to make sure the tape for X-men: Evolution is ready. Good night to all and I hope your night was better than mine. That’s all she wrote.
