Death at a Funeral
2008-Sep-23, Tuesday 08:57 pmI had was extremely tired today at work, and bogged down by, well, work – imagine that! So…yeah. Not posty. But, we I got in, I had something from Blockbuster in the mail. The next movie on my Queue. I just got through watching the movie Death at a Funeral. So, here’s my thoughts.
/screech!LAWLZ!!!
Rating: 4.5 out of 5!!!
Ok, anyone who likes British humor…will love this movie! It was the awesome(and I’m not just saying that because Matthew Macfadyen has my love)! Terribly macabre and all that, but so dry and blunt and you could just SEE the situation building one! On top! Of the other! It was sooo great! Now, it is very British, so there’s a lot of swearing and almost crude humor. The British people intrigue me so, if only because they’re very proper and very considerate of others feelings and saving face and all that...yet at the same time, they’re blunt, and dry and crude and bold! It’s just amazing. Either way you look at it, it’s so wonderful.
And Alan Tudyk!!! He was the poor unfortunate who had to face the drugs first! Ohhh….could there be a better thing than Alan acting like he’s on acid? No…No, I’m certain there isn’t (at least…not in a comedy…). I have to admit...I’m not a huge fan of nudity, but being blinded by Mr. Tudyk’s alabaster skin was an experience emblazoned on my mind…never to be forgotten (no matter how hard I try...). I almost wanted to fast-forward through other scenes just to get to the ones with crazy!Alan in them!
Oh…and you know who else is in this movie? Peter Dinklage. Yeah! I mean, I’ve known the guy for forever, right? But I’ve loved him since Threshold. And he’s just awesome…and somehow, he turns into the straw that breaks the raging camel’s back in this movie. If not for him, all the humor would be beneath the surface and understated, but thanks to his character’s intervention, we get to see it all blow up in Daniel(Matthew Macfadyen’s character)’s face!....much love, Peter….much love.
Everything was proper and by the book/British at first, building up in little scenes that really made the suspense (and anticipation for the ultimate explosion) so much better. And then everything went dry and vulgar and blunt/British, only to end with sophisticated, live-and-let-live/British! It was just…so awesome. I now have to add it to one of my Amazon.com wish lists =..=
Another great thing about this movie is that it had some pretty good previews that I now have to add to my Queue (along with the list of movies my cousin gave me to better my love for Angelina Jolie). Just from watching this movie, I have four new movies to check out – Feast of Love, Music Within, The Darjeeling Limited, and Lars and the Real Girl. All hilarious and yet so very deep.
So!...that’s my little rant/review of the movie. I know I said I’d give a review of the Heroes episodes…but really, I’m thinking that I can’t. Seriously...too much convoluted crap in those two hours to possible cover it all and not sprain my brain. So!....Goodnight.
