Church was pretty alright last night, but what happened after was so great, it wouldn’t have mattered if it had totally sucked. After church, one of the guys in the group (who I shall refer to as ‘Bubba’) approached me and said that he loves it when I come, because I’m hilarious, but not in an over-bearing way. Which...well, that had me very happy. It’s not often I get compliments. But, then Jodie and Casey said they were hungry and wanted to go out to eat somewhere. I asked where they’d be going and they said they were going to Manchuria, a popular Chinese restaurant. I arrived first (early bird, as usual) and got a table.
So many funny things happened, that I probably couldn’t tell it all. It was just…a blast. And there’s no other way to describe it. So many funny things were said, and it was great. Jodie and Casey and their very young son there, he’s not even 2 yet, and he was all excited. And when he gets excited he stretches his arms up and jerks them around a bit. I looked at him and said “It looks like he’s dancing.” And Jodie says “Yeah it does. That’s what he does when he gets excited.” Then I thought for a second and said, “How do you feel about your son being a professional male cheerleader?” he kinda stared at me. Bubba walked up and asked what he missed and I told him what had happened (Jodie’s still staring at me, horrified). Bubba says, “Dude, that’s a great profession! Those guys are considered athletes.” And I’m like “Yeah, and they get to hang out with hot chicks all the time.” Which made Jodie calm down a bit more.
Someone asked me how old I was at some point, and I told them “I’ll be 25 in October.” Then Jodie says “I’m the oldest one here.” And Bubba says “Yup. You’re older than me and uglier than me.” And then he says “You know, he told me that I’m big, but he’s really big too! Man, you’re a silver-back gorilla.” And somehow that got onto, “Hey, man, you ever have the monkeys at the zoo through their poop at you?” and I was like “What’s that called?” and I pretended to think while they went on talking about that, and finally I yelled “Turducken!! Oh…no wait, that’s that thing at Thanksgiving that’s a duck in a chicken in a turkey…” everyone cracked up for that.
It seemed like no time at all, but everyone had eaten and the restaurant would soon be closing. So we all said goodnight and I headed home…I think it was around 9:30ish, and considering that we get out of church at 8, that means that “seemed like no time at all” was in fact about an hour and a half. If church gatherings are like that…I might not have to worry about dropping off the grid so much after my parents move.
I was surprised to find out that Bubba, who seems like a good-ol-boy, likes Sushi...I told him about Zen, which is my totally favorite restaurant, and he seemed to like the idea of it. And his work takes him all over, so he’s been to Okinawa and all sorts of other places.
Oh, that reminds me, I need to go and get the Indiana Jones movies…. Dad’s coming in on the 4th instead of the 28th, so we’ll be going to see the movie on the 5th. I know I don’t absolutely have to see the movies, but I’d just like to. …I know, random but hey. Gotta jump on it when I remember it.
I discovered this uber-cool thing on Google Maps, where you can see pictures of so many places in the world. It’s amazing…I’ve just spent most of my lunch hour saving pictures from the Tomita farm in Hokkaido not to mention several pictures from New Zealand. I really should stop and eat O..O
Ok, that’s….everything I can think of right now. It’s raining buckets and thundering like crazy outside…it’s just glorious ^_____^ Later, Sunshines!
