A Real Update

Beware, for I am: Apathetic Apathetic

Wow...s’been a few days since I posted something in way of an actual entry. I’ve been fairly busy and more than a little tired. But today’s kinda important and plenty of stuff has happened, so I figured I’d go ahead and post.

Today we’re gonna be having our Grand Opening / Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at work. I’ll be taking my camera to work, because I’ll have no better opportunity to do so, and we all know how much MM loves taking pictures. According to the hand out sheet we were given, the ceremony starts at 1 (I get there at 12) and there’s food and drinks and we’re allowed to show friends and family around where we work. The whole process starts at 1 and lasts till 4:30. At 4:30 we go back to business and start cleaning up. I suppose they’re expecting that we wont have much to do today...because I can’t see us accomplishing much with such a schedule...But I don’t really mind. There’s so much to do lately, we could all use a break and a bit of pampering. I can’t wait to go paperless.

In other news: I have installed and will soon be playing EverQuest 2...if I can stand the 11 hour down load -.- So, I got my month’s subscription (cause let’s face it, there’s no use buying a 3-month sub. until or unless you know you’re gonna love it and wanna play it more), and I’m commencing this massive download, when I realize that I haven’t picked up an EQ2 text in months. So, I go over to the site to give myself a refresher course, and while I’m there I just so happen to actually look at the main page. O...m...G! When did they do all these expansions or adventure packs as they’re calling them!? I count six so far...there’s:

  1. Desert of Flames
  2. Kingdom of Sky
  3. The Blood Chronicles
  4. The Splitpaw Saga
  5. The Fallen Dynasty
  6. Echoes of Faydwer

The only ones that look overly appealing to me are the Fallen Dynasty and the Echoes of Faydwer...but that’s because Dynasty has a bit of a Oriental feel and Faydwer allows you to play winged Fea (if I’m reading that right...). So yeah...But anyway. I only got a month subscription because I figure I’ll either love it and want to play more or I wont and then it’ll be over and that’s all there is to that.

That’s all I got for today. I should probably go ahead and start getting ready. We have to bring my car in to get the brakes looked over, so we’re (Mom and I) are gonna leave early and go drop the car off, then she’ll drop me off at work. At least that’s the plan. So. I’ll see ya’ll later. Ja.

On This Day: Friday June 30, 2006

This is the 181st day of the year, with 184 days remaining in 2006.

Fact of the Day: Leap Second

June 30 is one of the two times (the other being December 31) when the addition or subtraction of a second from our clock time is allowed to coordinate atomic and astronomical time. The determination to adjust is made by the International Earth Rotation Service of the International Bureau of Weights and Measures at Paris. A leap second is an intercalary, one-second adjustment that keeps broadcast standards for time of day close to mean solar time. Leap seconds are necessary to keep time standards synchronized with civil calendars, the basis of which is astronomical. The announcement to insert a leap second is given whenever the difference between UTC and UT1 approaches one-half second, to keep the difference between UTC and UT1 from exceeding ±0.9 s. After UTC 23:59:59, a positive leap second at 23:59:60 would be counted, before the clock indicates 00:00:00 of the next day. Negative leap seconds are also possible should the Earth's rotation becomes slightly faster; in that case, 23:59:58 would be followed by 00:00:00.
