Whooo-hoo! MM’s at work, and she has nothing to do! That means doing now what I want so that I don’t have to worry about it after work! Yay!

Ok, enough with the chipper-routine. I figured I might as well talk about my City of Heroes characters while I have the time and am doing nothing now, rather than putting it of till after work when I’ll be exhausted. Not that I’m overly rambunctious right now, but the bosses don’t get in till 9, so I might as well find something to amuse myself. At first I was gonna put this all behind a cut, but I figure if I’m gonna go through all the lengths to type up this stuff, I might as well display it all.

First off, I’ll give you some background on this thing. There are classifications that you have to choose from for your character’s development. First is their origin. You have 5 origins to choose from; Mutant, Science, Technology, Natural, and Magic. The game tells you that it’s just to establish your character’s background story and contacts, but it makes a big difference. Mutants are people that are born differently. They have superpowers because their parents were exposed to radiation or maybe they’re just the next leap in evolution (think X-men). Science means you were normal, and then got super powers because you drank some chemical or were exposed to radiation (Spiderman, the Hulk, Captain America). Technology is like a gadget hero. You have stuff that makes you a hero (Batman’s partially a Technology hero). Natural and Mutant are very hard to tell apart sometimes. Natural means you get your powers naturally from intensive training (Batman’s also partially a Natural type hero...I guess Superman would be too..). Magic means that you know magic and that’s where your powers come from (like...ah, damn...who’s a good Magic super hero?). Then you have to choose your Archetype. There are five of those...first is Blaster. High damage, low hit points, mostly ranged weapons with a secondary of support powers. You basically stand back and blast the heck out of something. Next is Controller. Low damage, low hit points, primary powers dealing with control (duh), and your secondary powers are buffs for your team mates (or yourself). Next up is the Defenders. You have low damage, low hit points, your buffs rock and your secondary powers are like a blasters. The last two archetypes are my favorites because they get up-close and personal. First there’s the Scrapper. You’ve got medium hit points, with high damage, your main powers are melee (getting in the thick of it with furious attacks), and your secondary powers are defense. Lastly are the Tankers. You’ve got High hit points with medium damage (slow and stead), your first power set is all about the defense, and your secondary is all about melee. In a perfect super group, Tankers attract the attention of the bad guys, while Scrappers come in with sporadically furious attacks. Blasters, Controllers and Defenders all sit back and cast (Blasters hit the bad guys, while Controllers and Defenders vary between buffing comrades and blasting villains).

Now, on to the heroes. I’m only gonna do the Infinity server with this post, because describing 8 characters will be plenty of text -.-

First on the character list is Atomicaa. I find her more fun to write about than to actually play...but I think that’s because she’s a Science Controller and those aren’t easy to play. For one, Science means you are automatically sent up against the Vahz. I call them Vahz because I can’t remember how to spell the full name. But they’re the creepy guys that wander around in the sewers butchering people and making them into Zombie slaves. They look like guys from a meat market, in big aprons that are covered in blood and junk, and they’ve always got flies swarming around them. They’re just nasty. In fact, I’m thinking of remaking her as a mutant. But that’s another issue. Anyway. Atomicaa is a Gravity, Sonic Controller. Now Science is her origin (which is what determines who she starts off fighting against I think), and that just means that she was made a hero later in life due to the power of science. But I’m thinking of making her a mutant or something. Controllers have low hit points and don’t do a lot of damage (one of the reasons they’re my least favorite class to play). Her Gravity control means she can throw people around, and her Sonic control let’s her hit them with sonic waves. She’s a fun character to play though, so I generally don’t mind the fact that she’s weaker than my tankers and scrapers. Her back-story is that she’s just this normal nerdy kid at school and then the Rikti (aliens) attacked Paragon City and her powers manifested. It’s assumed that she received her powers from a combination of the Rikti’s technology and the fact that she was in a chemistry lab at the time she was exposed to the Rikti’s weapons. At school she’s still a nerdy kid that’s always overlooked, but as Atomicaa, she’s pretty well-known as one of the funniest flirts around.

Next in line is The Black Scale, who my Twin-san would better recognize as the infamous bad-ass character of mine, Calladi. Her hero-story is pretty simple in comparison to her past before she came to Paragon. Calladi befriended Leila (Atomicaa) and Gilianna (Head Spinner) at her school and when she found out that they were heroes (weak heroes) she decided to be their tanker. She calls herself The Black Scale because she’s a young Black Dragon. She’s classified as a Natural Tanker with Invulnerability and Energy powers. Natural means she starts off fighting against the Council...which used to be a group of Natzi-ish villains...but I don’t know exactly why their names changed. Tanker means she takes and deals heavy damage. Calladi’s the same person behind the mask as she is in everyday life. As such, she doesn’t much care for hero-work in the original sense, and only pitches in because she doesn’t want to see her friends hurt. Otherwise, she’s just a non-conformist, antisocial, tanker that won’t take it off of anyone, hero, villain, god, or mortal.

Head Spinner is next in line. She’s also a Controller but she’s classified as Mutant. Her mother is a hero (Lethal Lady), though Gilianna doesn’t know it, and due to her mom’s constant exposure to technology and forays with other heroes, her DNA got screwed around with and that earned her the Mutant classification. Her powers are illusion and kenetics(I think). She gets in the bad guys heads and makes them think they’re hurt, her allies, or any other number of things. She can also give off radiation effects to protect herself from anyone who’s attacking her. As Gilianna she’s known as a popular, beauty-queen at Paragon High, but she often uses her alter ego to take out her frustration of not being taken very seriously by her mother or her peers.

Ichijin is next. She’s one of my Aeris (Wind Mages). She’s a Magic Defender with Storm Summoning and Lightning powers. There’s honestly not too much to say about her...She’s a devout follower of Kaze (the Wind Lord), and she uses the name given to his followers as her handle. She’s straight-laced and decisive, never taking her eyes off her goals. The only reason she and her Elekin (elemental magic) friends are in Paragon, is because their masters refuse to trust Calladi and her family.

Ikusa Nushi is next, though you know her better as Platinum (yeah you know who you are). She’s a Natural Scrapper, with dark melee and focused senses as her powers (at least that’s what they’re classified as). She originally came to Paragon as a bounty hunter, but when she found her rival there gaining influence, she couldn’t leave. She decided to stay and see what she could do to thwart his plans, and that ended up making her a hero. She doesn’t like the classification much, but it does allow her to operate more openly.

Lethal Lady is next on the list. She’s Gilianna’s (Head Spinner) mother, and she has a very big reputation. In fact there are even Lethal Lady dolls in the stores. Little girls in Paragon all look up to her, and she’s known to operate well with or without groups. Unfortunately, her relationship with her daughter is no where near as good as her professional career as a hero. Because of her ‘work’ she’s missed most of her daughters life, and when she does try to be a part of it, Gilianna usually gives her such an attitude, she quickly backs off. Her classifications are Technology Blaster, with electricity and sonic powers.

Next we have MoonStruck. She’s a Mutant Blaster with energy powers. She’s also Crystal Hebert, a chemistry teacher at Paragon High School. MoonStruck is aggressive and decisive, but Ms. Hebert is laid-back and personable. MoonStruck tries to mentor younger heroes (once a teacher, always a teacher) but she’s mostly a solo hero.

Lastly is Renegade Saber. She’s a Natural Scraper with claws and focused senses. Renegade classifies herself as a Hybrid because her mother is a Saber and her father is Lezoni. She often feels like a misfit because her hybrid breeding makes it impossible for her to actually fit in anywhere. She looks up to Ikusa Nushi for her unyielding warrior spirit and on some level, she also admires her mother, Ronin Saber for having the courage to do something different (her dad ^.^). She goes to Paragon High and has a strange, loose friendship with Calladi and the Elekin. She ends up becoming a type of go-between because of her wiliness to listen to both sides before judging.

And that’s all for this server. I’ll do the other one some other time. I like those characters a lot (mostly because I’m actually still developing their personalities), so I’m sure I’ll have plenty of rambling going on in that post.

I’m getting really groggy too...I’d better go get some coffee or something. Later!
