msmoonI made a decision today. I’ve been a bit depressed...concerning World of Warcraft. It just seems like so many things are happening...so many people are putting so much stock in this little game. A game by definition is supposed to be fun, an amusement or pastime. But there’s more to life than the game, and the game should not be the biggest thing there is in life. I’ve probably not really gotten on and played...for a month…maybe even a month and a half. And part of it is because it has a depressing tint on it now…and part of it is because it’s just not fun anymore…but mostly, I just haven’t wanted to play. I’ve been tired, or not feeling well, or I had a movie to watch, or I just didn’t feel like getting online...I dunno...Other things just seemed more important.
So...I canceled my account. Just as always, I cancel right after I paid for the next period, so I’ve got until September 8 to play if I’d like, but...that’s kinda it. After then, I just won’t be playing any more…actually, up till then I still might not be playing. I still intend to buy WoW Books, because I love the world and characters, but I no longer have time or energy to devote to the game. And, truthfully? It’s …not that important. It’s just a game, and if my friends in the game want to stay in contact with me then they can. It’s not like someone’s dying or anything. I just can’t see paying for something I’m no longer enjoying or using. I have other expenses, and they’re more important to me.
The game is just a game to me…as much as I love my characters, I’ve no desire to see their social lives flourish while mine withers. So I’ve got till September to have some fun with the game, but after that, it’s bye-bye WoW.
