Ain’t that about a flame retardant hell hound?…

Ok so secondly, today at work Lori tells us that she noticed this guy out side. Well, we’re on the second story, so we’ve got a great view of this field that’s behind us and behind a lot of other businesses. Lori said this dude just walked across the field, found this large wood pile, pulled out a board and laid down on it and fell asleep. So she felt really sorry for him (tis the season), and she wanted to run down there and give him the half of her sandwich that she didn’t eat. Of course Nicole wouldn’t let her because she was afraid the guy’d have a knife or gun and be nuts or something. So everyone but me and Lacey leave, and Lori can’t stand it anymore, but no one would let her go out and actually help this guy. So she calls around for shelters and such and the Bunkhouse (a local shelter) says that if she calls the cops and the guy checks out clean they’d give him a place to stay and a warm meal. So we call the cops and the cops think this dudes one of the local homeless dudes and if he is that means he’s deranged and sick and he’d be arrested. So we all watch at our windows as the police officer walks across this enormous field, and wakes the dude up and he gives the officer his ID and then the officer starts walking back. Ok, so we assume he isn’t the regular homeless deranged person, he must be just some down-on-his-luck guy. So Maria decides she wants to head out there and give the guy stuff and everyone goes on a scavenger hunt. Lori gives him her sandwich, a drink and her blanket, and a few people down stares contributed some items like money and such for the guy. Well, the officer comes back a little later (after we’ve given him all this stuff), and announces that this man is wanted on several drug and theft charges in Florida. But since it’s all out of his jurisdiction, he can’t arrest him. So he tells the guy to eat and be on his way. So we’re all a little upset about that. I mean, we were kinda hoping we could help him get to the Bunkhouse, but the Bunkhouse wont take people that have records or aren’t clean. He ate, gathered up his stuff and we all watched as he trekked off and away. Lori doesn’t regret giving him the things we gave him thought, because even if he is a druggey or a thief he’s still a homeless man, and in a way I do agree. Unfortunately, the officers said we need to make sure we go to our cars in twos for a little while...just in case =.=
So that was the little drama at work this afternoon. Man, that makes for a huge and convoluted story O.o Well, at the very least, no one can say ‘nobody cares and no one notices’ because we do and we did.
