I hate hurricanes. They cause so much fear and doubt and confusion. They take something I love completely—weather, rain, thunder, lightning—and pervert it into something that makes people terrified and stupid. The rain sounds on and on all day...it goes from the constant steady pour to a furious dash that makes the house pop and creak. Thunder echoes in the distance, but not accompanying the rain...it comes in the silences, making it sound more eerie. This has to be one of the slowest moving hurricanes I’ve ever experienced. We started feeling slight changes yesterday evening, and they’re predicting it will continue tomorrow.

Today has been one of those days where we were confined to the house, basically. And my throat’s been bothering me to no end. We had bought a pack of Riccola’s just the other day, and I only have a few left. I’m reduced to sucking peppermints and drinking tons of coffee and apple cider. Even when I do take stuff to help the cough, it doesn’t necessarily stop the cough. And it hurts so much to cough.

The only highlight of this day was early this morning. We peeked out our house when the winds had died a bit, to see a small collection of about 5 ducks enjoying the water. It was a small treat to see them playing around and looking for food.

Meanwhile, indoors, I tried keeping myself busy by organizing a few things. I’ve made a list of all the music and books I own (that I know of at this time). I think tomorrow I’ll try going through all my movies and see what I have.

I was absolutely livid when I turned on the TV to watch Ghost Whisperer and Threshold and find that the news had taken over. Honestly! We have the same things reporting on almost every channel, and you feel the need to remind me of all this more by making the shows that distract me unavailable! Unthinking, uncaring, baffed morons! I hate it when there’s a situation I can’t escape and all the media wants to do is remind me of it. Then they take away my options and decide that I won’t be able to turn on my TV without hearing it all!

I suppose that’s about that...I’m tired and I feel terrible. Goodnight everyone.
