What did we do for Spring Break? Well... we went on a little road trip to the lovely town of Eureka Springs :3 Sure, we didn't have a ton of money, but we had fun strolling through the shops there. It's such a lovely town with so much to offer!

2010-Oct-30, Saturday 02:07 pm
msmoon: (You're On Notice)

You know what I think I’ve decided? I have too many things -..- Like, I can totally justify music, movies, and usable things, but there are some things that I love and don’t need. I’ve been wanting an iPhone for ages, and when the iPhone 4 came out I really began to fixate on it. And , yes, I need a new cell, and yes, it would be extremely useful because it’s so much more than a phone… but really, it’s just much too expensive. And Apple will probably come out with the iPhone5 in a year, followed by 6 and 7 and so on and so forth. And I’ll rage over it and get really frustrated (not too unlike my episode with iLife11). So from now on, unless it’s something versatile and useful, no more statues, or figurines or jewelry. I mean, I have 15 wish lists full of stuff I’d like because it’s unique or special, but if it’s not in some way useful or enjoyable, I shouldn’t be getting it. The whole iPhone thing really made me see how laden down I am with the want for all this stuff and how it’s not helping! I have these southern belle statutes, and these painted ponies and a bunch of others, and all they do…is gather dust. Now, the little mushrooms I bought, they are decorative and very inexpensive, and not harming anything so that’s an exception. But so much of this stuff costs an arm and a leg, and I literally cannot condone it anymore. And any friends that I have that still buy me stuff for my birthday, I know everyone says it’s not ‘personal’ but I love gift certificates. J!NX, iTunes, Amazon and Wal-Mart (or Target or GameStop or whatever) those are awesome places that I’m always going to and I wish I had more money to get stuff there.

This momentary freak out brought to you by Jim Henson (because if he never would’ve done that Junkyard lady in Labyrinth, I wouldn’t have had something to avoid).

I’m sorry if this came off as ‘ranty’ but I hate materialism, and I realize this notion I have that stuff=happiness is just wrong. And I don’t really think that stuff=happiness, but that doesn’t stop me from wanting stuff. And you’re never going to stop wanting stuff, but you can’t expect to be more content if what you’re wanting is all useless…. not that I don’t enjoy my useless stuff, but …well, in the long run it’s just stuff =..=‘ At least you get enjoyment out of music and movies, and clothes are always useful. So, from now on Usefulness has be be a factor…it can’t just depend on how much I want it…. so… uh… Useful > Want….I’ve been spending too much time in algebra =..=

In other news, the church/youth Bonfire is tomorrow night, so I’ve been cleaning my house today. It kinda sucks because I was hoping to really get my paper for English Comp all together….but it’s becoming really hard for me to focus with all this stuff to do. I’ve been cleaning and all, and I’ve still gotta go and clean the church…and there’s that wonderful sociology test to study for Monday =..= Conditions are just not as ideal as I’d like…then again, when are they ever. I’ve got all my research lined up at least. I just need to throw it all together.

Did I tell everyone that my camcorder is dying? Yeah… It is. So, my vlog posts have been few and far between. I have my laptop camera, but it’s not quite as good so…I’m hesitant. Still, I’ll be posting more as soon as these stupid tests and papers are out of the way. I just wish my camera would’ve waited till after I go visit Reiko to break down.

I think that’s all for now…or at least as much as I want to write (I need to leave other stuff out so’s I’ve got something to vlog about :). I’ll type later, Sunshines.

You Judge People Based on Evidence

You know better than to judge a book by its cover, and you don't make snap judgements about people either.

You look at the facts, and you try to make educated choices. You never mind admitting that you're wrong.

It's hard for you to trust people that you've just met. You always need to get to know people.

You never go with your gut, but you may be surprised. Your intuition is probably more dead on than you realize.

Wow… haven’t felt this bad in… oh, right. About a month =..=‘ Figures.

So, I’ve done very little today. Picked up here and there, but no real cleaning. The only real thing I’ve manage to accomplish is watching Batman - Gotham Knight and finding an agreeable theme for my tumblr.

I’ve just been wanting a more graphic tumblr, but there are so many themes to choose from and I wanted something fairly specific… I like it when things are obviously separated and have a date stamp on them. I also don’t want it too plain or too ornate, and it had to be legible and somewhat orderly. I think I found something unique with a good date stamp that isn’t too much or too little. Overall, that’s what I was wanting.

As for Gotham Knight, it was much like the Animatrix… many different anime styles being shown off in small episodes, only this time it’s the Batman universe instead of the Matrix. I like most anime styles, but there are a few that I do not care for. A couple of those episodes are amazingly beautiful, not in the story telling of course but due to their actual graphics and fluid movement. Just like in the Animatrix, Gotham Knight has very little validity story-wise. You get tidbits of things that are interesting, but overall the stories are fairly unimportant. This DVD is sheer fan service (sans pervy stuff). As a consequence, I still want to buy it, but I don’t think it’s entirely essential to a Batman DVD collector :)

As for the individual episodes, the first episode (Have I Got A Story For You) annoyed me because it reminded me of an episode of the animated series, season 4, in which these kids are telling each other stories about Batman from their (distorted and uninformed) perspective. It didn’t help that the animation style is one that I’m absolutely not a fan of. The other episodes are all acceptable animation-wise as well as story-wise. Some are more cinematic and beautifully animated than others (2. Crossfire, 4. In Darkness Dwells, & 6 Deadshot), while others actually look like your average, albeit high end, anime (3. Field Test & 5. Working Through Pain). As much as I enjoyed the features, I was disappointed in the lack of ‘extra features’…. namely because there are none. At least not in this Netflix copy. I’m the sort of fan that enjoys (‘lives for’ might be a better term) ‘behind the scenes’ or ‘the making of’ and ‘featurettes’. In fact, it’s a major part of the DVDs that I buy. I’d much rather spend more money on something if it’s a 2 or 3 disc edition, just because I almost enjoy watching the extra stuff as much as (or more than in some cases) the actual movie. The fact that this dvd didn’t have any extra features was pretty disappointing. Though, I suppose that means I’ll have something to look forward to when I buy the 2 disc edition. Lastly, I cannot express how happy it made me to hear Kevin Conroy as Batman once again. I’m not saying he’s the only one that can do the job (Bruce Greenwood did a dang decent job of it too), but he’s so cemented in my mind as the voice of Batman, it was almost comforting to hear his voice again. :)

As for the rest of my day… I’m pretty sick actually. So, I suppose it’s good that I’ve got something decent to watch. Last night I was feeling tireder than usual (but didn’t think anything of it) and my stomach was really cramping pretty badly. I tried not to let it bother me though, because Mom and Aunt Carolyn volunteered to help me clean the entire church in one swoop. I could hardly pass that up. By the time I got home I had that itching tickle in the back of my throat… so I just took some NyQuil and hoped for the best. This morning though, my entire stomach is still cramping, I’m tired, nauseous, dizzy and weak and I’m all clammy. Not to mention I go between hot and cold >..< It’s very frustrating (though I suppose ‘sickening’ would be a better term). I can only hope it’s some sort of 24 hour bug that’ll be gone in the morning. Either way, I made myself go with Mom to Wal-Mart to stock up, and I managed to get some Gatorade. Nothing like a supplement of electrolytes to help you bounce back…right? =..=‘

I really can’t make myself concentrate much more, so I’m gonna go ahead and wrap this entry up. I’ll write again later, Sunshines.

Family Doctor

2010-Jul-21, Wednesday 04:42 pm
msmoon: (RVB - Caboose Toast)

So today I had an appointment with my new ‘family’ doctor. Dr. S, I’ll call him for now. I know you’re always supposed to establish a family doctor and all, but I’d put it off because I could always just go to emergency care. But this disoriented feeling has persisted over a month now, and I figured it wouldn’t hurt. He was concerned with my insomnia – funny, I’ve been concerned with it too, but no one else seems to care. He referred me to a local ear, nose and throat doctor too, thinking he’d be better equipped to handle the dizzy issue I’ve been having. Dr. S made a prescription for me for my insomnia, instructing me to take half a pill before bed for the first week and then a whole pill from then on. He had wanted to sign me up for a sleep study, but when he saw that I had no insurance and was self pay and all, he said it might be too expensive for me. Also, he gave me a medication that is only $4 :) Nice fella.

What was funny was when he was walking out and he said, “So give this medication a try and if it works call us and tells us, or otherwise you can call us and tell us, ‘This doesn’t work, you guys are stupid.’” :D

Anyway. I have an appointment at 3 this Friday with the Ear Nose and Throat doctor. It’s funny, but unless you get a referral from other doctors, most of the doctors here won’t admit you. It’s weird, but they always say they aren’t accepting new patients.

I’m …very tired now… and very dizzy. But, I’m trying to finish my washing. Mom and Dad got me a ton of clothes yesterday when we stumbled upon an Avenue (my favorite place to shop back in Houma) in Springfield. So, I’m washing everything in hopes of being able to wear it :)But, in between loads of clothes, I’m having a Supernatural marathon. I was moping about for something to watch and lamenting over the fact that I’d really like to have Avatar: The Last Airbender on DVD, but then my eyes fell on my Supernatural box sets and I rejoiced :3 It’s kinda funny how I’m still a little shocked at how awesome the first season is o..o’

Oh well. I’m gonna stop typing now so that the computer stops shaking (srsly, it looks like my monitor is moving >..<). I’ll type later, ya’ll. Bye!

The Pitcher Puzzle

2010-Jun-16, Wednesday 11:40 pm
msmoon: (MM - Genki!!)

Today, for the first time ever, Mom and I went to Branson and she bought me 3 airtight canisters and a pitcher. I have never owned a pitcher.

For some odd reason it made me feel much the same as when I first got my table. kitchen was suddenly more complete. For ages now, my mother has made tea - her own special kind, usually made unique by combining 2 flavors - and kept a huge pitcher of said tea in her fridge so that we could have iced tea whenever we wanted. So, for some odd reason it felt like another piece of a puzzle coming into view. When I got my kitchen table, I was so excited... not because I'm a stickler for sitting and eating at the table, but because my parents kitchen always had a table. We would always eat at the table as a family... and having a table of my own made me feel like I had been closer to my parents somehow. Does that make sense?

Well anyway. It sent me into somewhat of a fit, and I started bustling around my kitchen. I made sure everything was out of the way and set Harvey to work on the floor. Then......I went through my fridge o..o It's been a while since I cleaned out my fridge. I'm one of those girls that's fairly content to let things be. I don't clean unless I feel it's necessary. And as such I'll go ahead and let something sit until it's actually bothering me, and I have to change it. So...there were several things in my fridge that I could not (at first) identify. I dumped all the old food, now transitioned to several stages of mold cultures. But I am happy to report that not only do I have a pitcher, I also have room in my fridge for my pitcher :)

This is one of those insignificant things that happens in life that eventually, I'm pretty sure I won't even care about... but it makes me feel wonderful right now... so. I'm writing to remind myself.... Sometimes, you have to treasure the little things.

OK! So... I'd better hurry up and write about this last Youth Excursion... before I totally forget about it -..- So, we uh... we really left very late in comparision to what we had said. We had wanted to originally leave around 9:30ish... but then we realized Lamarr would be at camp, so we'd have to wait for him. Bro. Sam assured us that he'd be back with Lamarr around 10:30, so we decided to wait.

Alicia showed up at my house around 10ish, with a light headach. I gave her some aleve and it helped after a while. We left to pick up Takara and Timmy (aka Penny, because that's never gonna get old) around 10:15.... we got to the church around 10:45... and no one showed up until about 11:30 >..> Yeah... so we were sitting at the hot church for a while waiting. But the church van pulled up with Lamarr, and no sooner had Bro. Sam parked than Billy, Jesse and Julian showed up with Buddy in tow. >..< We were less than thrilled for having Buddy with us as he is the most obnoxious teenage boy I've yet to meet, but we bore it well I think.

So yeah, we got on the road, and most of the kids had actually brought CD players and such, so we let them entertain themselves... that didn't stop them from driving us nuts, as Budy and Jesse found much pleasure in singing Jason Mraz's I'm Yours... over and over and over again. I swear, they sang it about 5 times on the way up and probably as many times on the way back. I used to like Mr. Mraz's music... Now, I really don't care if I get his CDs any time soon =..= Thanks a lot, boys.

Anyway.... Alicia had a gift card to Staples... and it was going to expire at the end of the month... so we had already decided to go there first. At first everyone was kinda annoyed because they figured, office store=nothing to do for them. But... then they got all jazzed about the office chairs and started playing on the laptops and such. I've no idea what Alicia got since I was in charge of wrangling the kids while she shopped (how the heck did she talk me into that? Gosh I'm too nice), and I was the lucky one who found a laptop with internet connection... I tested it by checking my FaceBook :D I probably should've put 'wrangling teenagers in Staples' in my update box but oh well.

After they played some games on the laptops and Alicia got what she wanted, we headed over to Applebee's, because somehow we'd all gotten hungry o..o' So, we waited for about 15 minutes at Applebee's and they finally seated us. We had all decided to do the 2 meals for $20. Not surprisingly, all the boys (plus Alicia) got their fire pit bacon burger. Takara tried the 3 chees chicken pene that I had tried before, and I got the double crunch shrimp. There were 2 orders of the mild buffalo wings and 2 orders of mozerella sticks too... We made short work of our food, though it took a lot to eat as much as we did. Since we couldn't afford to get a full dessert, we told them they could get those dessert shooters. Seriously, some of these kids were so sheltered... a few couldn't tell the difference between what was alcoholic and what wasn't o..o it was ammusing.

It was around 1:45 then, and we decided to head on over to the landing and just walk it off and shop at stores and such. Alicia and I both got Takara's cell and Buddy's cell so that we could stay in touch at all times. My first text to Billy was, "I will eat your unhappyness!! ... we're going to walk the landing, so text us if you need us :)" ^..^

Naturally, the boys wanted to go off on their own, so we went with T to Hot Topic first (she was positively gagging to see all the New Moon stuff :D). We killed time there, and I really wanted to buy a Slytherin shirt... or maybe something from their Charlie the Unicorn collection, but we saw that they had Transformers gear too, so I was all over that. I got myself an old-school G1 Optimus Prime girl shirt :3 I wub it. After Hot Topic, we went to the restroom (and I changed my shirt while I went), then we went to a store called Justice (just for girls). T seemed to enjoy that store, but she couldn't really afford anything... but we still spent about an hour looking at stuff there. Then... we went to one of my favorite places ^..^ Earthbound Trading Company. They have tons of different things and I just love to look around. There was this lovely dress that I wanted so bad. of course, it was $36 and I couldn't see wearing it anywhere but around my house... so I resisted that temptation... didn't stop me from staring at it longingly every time I passed by. But we took our time walking around and looking at the stuff in there.

It became very apparent that we perhaps hadn't thought this through well. It was perhaps the hottest day of the week, we had several hours before we had to leave (we'd agreed to meet at 7:30 at Bass Pro to leave), and we were wearing black. Not to mention my syatica was really starting to hurt and Alicia's not really built for walking much with her knee and all. So we texted the boys and asked if they wanted to head to Books-A-Million because we certainly wanted the comforts of AC. We ended up waiting for them all to gather around Bass Pro and asked if they wanted to head to B-A-M early. They relented, and we learned that the boys met up with another friend of theirs (Heath) while they were walking. So, we told them that B-A-M was between Best Buy and Petco, and they pretty much agreed to go. Heath had come in his own car, so he followed us out.

Books-A-Million was nice and refreshing. We sat, I found volume 1 of Skip Beat and just read it. Takara and Alicia were around reading too, but we were all quiet and just enjoying our books and the AC. The boys had split up and gone into Best Buy and Petco... but Buddy kept coming and bothering us. He say's to Alicia, "I've always wanted one.." and I responded with "A personality?" and he says, "No! A python! Can I buy one and bring it home?" ... Alicia and I pretty much said "No." at the same time =..= Good Lord. Go and ask your Dad that first because ultimately, he's going to be the one that has to put up with it. He went off after that and left us alone. But closer to 7, I decided to get a drink from Joe Mug or whatever that place in there is called. I got a caramel Frappe, and it was awesome :D Heath and Billy joined us (for reasons still unknown) and Heath asked if it was good... so I let him taste it and he liked it so he got one himself. He sat it down on a table and went to get a straw, so I snatched it up and hid behind a mug display :D and He looked over at Billy like "ok... who took it?" and I couldn't help but laugh like Muttly so I gave him his drink back. But it wasn't long till we had to head back to the van and make tracks to the Imax :)

So... Buddy and Billy decided they wanted to ride with Heath... which was fine with us really. So, we made our way over there... and about a half mile away from the place, I noticed Heath pull over. We didn't really think anything of it... but then when we got there, I went and bought another ticket (we'd bought 9 originally for the showing earlier that day that way we'd have our tickets, but with Heath joining us, we knew he'd need one too). I texted Billy to ask if they'd gotten lost or something. He said they were going to jail O..O' So, I asked if he was serious and he asked if we'd bail him out. I responded with 'No! I'll sell your ticket!' So he said that he wasn't kidding and that Heath had been caught with stolen goods >..>' Heath? White-bread Heath? Stolen goods? I think not. I called him and said if they weren't there in 5 minutes, we'd sell their tickets. Aaaand it was then that they walked up. It was funny though, because I closed my phone, and Billy (who's standing right behind me now) says, "Hey... she hung up on me!" and Jesse who's sitting right in front of me says, "Dude... she's sitting right there." Billy followed that up with 'oh'.

I gave Heath his ticket and I went to stand in line. The kids all went and got their on concessions and such while I held their space. Now, I should mention that it was around 8ish now. The line had already started to form too, one wrong of the maze was already full. We had been told to get there around 8:15, because that's when seating would start. ........ We waited in line until 8:57 -..- The boys were upset about that mostly, though Alicia and I had more reason to be as we were hurting from standing so much >..< But finally, we got in. We all dispursed, Lamarr found a seat at the very top, Alicia and I were perhaps 10 seats away from him, and everyone else was more towards the center. We could very easily look down and see them. They seemed very content to play games with another group of much yonger kids that had sat nearby.

Around 9 the lights dimmed....and the sound started...but there was no picture >..> The projectionist (Jerry) had to restart the projectioner (a process that takes roughly 30 minutes)... So, our kids entertained themselves by playing audacious games of rock-paper-scissors (which mad much more than just the three mentioned in the game such as dinomite and volcano) doing the wave (and many people joined in) playing Marco Polo with the kids near them, aaaand stomping/claping out the tune to 'we will rock you'. Finally, at 9:37, the previews started. Now, this is Transformers 2, and it's really awesome. But it's also 2 and a half hours long. When it was finally over at 11:58, I flet like the hem of my jeans had been burned into my legs =..=

We gathered the kids up and got them in the van. It took us a while to get back to the church, and then Alicia and I got in my car and took Timmy, Takara and Lamarr home. Then, since she'd left her car at my place, I took Alicia to my place where she left. It was 1:32 when I got home. I showered really quickly and hit the sack around 2 am. I have to say, it's the first time in a long time that my alarm clock/cell phone has woken me up! I always wake up at least 30 minutes before it's about to go off, and this time I was conked out and snoozing when it went off... which caused a "huh, wha, heeey!" reaction.

This has been my account for the July Transformers 2 Youth Excursion :) I hope it's been entertaining. I have posted what few pics I took up to FaceBook,
if you wanna look at 'em. Now... I should probably eat before I head off to church. I'll type later, Sunshines.

msmoon: (HP - Severus WTF)

LoudTwitter is down. Evidently there was a server crash. I swear, I have not dropped off the face of the earth, it's just that the service I use to batch my tweets isn't working :) I thought I'd let everyone know.

Yesterday was church... and it was fun. Not because of the sermon, but because the boys showed up with their mother. This meant Alicia and I had the chance to teach as opposed to attend the Bible study. I enjoy that very much. The boys are very enjoyable and funny, thought it's very hard to keep them reigned in if only because they're so funny you don't want to stop them ^..^

We really didn't give a lesson... but! We developed a reward based system, assigning points to each person for good behavior... and taking points away for bad. After 25 points they may start claiming their rewards... and 25 points can get you 5 candy bars (of your choosing). If you choose not to redeem your points, then you can save it up for a bigger prize. We discussed gift certificates to restaurants and the big prize of 100 points earns you a $50 Wal-Mart gift card :D The gift cards were my idea... so were the candy bars now that I think about it >..> hm...Well, Alicia asked what they would work for... and they said cars and guitars -..- Yeah... nothing we could actually afford. So, I threw in candy (food's always a great reward system right?) and gift certificates... Of course... we do have to get it approved by Pastor Sam first... so... I did make up a chart with their "Names" on them.... ok, that needs explaining.

So... when Alicia mentioned the points system, and Julian said, "What does that remind you of?" to which I replied, "20 points from Gryffindor!" ^..^ They immediately picked up on it and started taken Hogwart's House names... or... something like them. Julian called Gryffindor, Jesse called Slytherin, and Billy ... decided on Ravenpuff O..o yeah I know. They got off on a tangent about combining the names to see what they might just wind up with ... and that's how Billy got his -..-' Of course, T and Lamarr weren't really there... so we gave them substitute names. T (for now) will be Tink and Lamarr with be Autobot :) We'll have to ask them what they think... whenever we next see them.

We're also talking about planning an outing to Branson... the idea is to go and get something to eat and walk the landing and then go see a movie (preferably Transformers 2 as everyone wants to see that). She had mentioned the IMax, but it won't be playing there on the 11th, which is when we wanted to go. The boys will be starting up their Football training camp, and thus they will die a bit every day of the week.... we were hoping for weekend since it'd be more fun and relaxing :) So... you know... maybe we'll have to find another theater. Shouldn't be hard in Branson.

Hmm... what else. Well, I finally got around to getting those art prints framed... all of them (so far). Scamp still owes me two Map paintings, but the Ancients Kth did for me are all framed properly and the map Scamp gave me is framed... I bought 4 matching frames for the Ancients and then 3 other frames from the maps... yes, I only have 1 of the 3, but this Wal-Mart is more of a “Get it while you can, otherwise it may be gone” sort of deal... Even if they aren’t up on the wall yet, I am proud of myself :D

Oh, we went to Sam and Karen's house for the first time since they left on their trip. We were going to go out on some lake, but... well, things didn't work out. So, we ended up just coming home. Not before visiting with Julie and Marsha of course... But, I finished my laundry (thank God). Oh! And tomorrow, Mom and I are going to Branson to shop :3 Yays. Dad said he didn't want to come and get in our way... so that means sushi :D Happy psycho bunny.

Well... I'd better be off. I still haven't showered, slothful boar that I am. I hope LoudTwitter comes back up soon... not that it hasn't been fun posting again....Oh well. I'll talk later, Sunshines :)

Holding Court

2009-Apr-27, Monday 10:40 pm
msmoon: (MM - Genki!!)
What a day. Not much happened all morning...or I should say all afternoon, since I didn't really wake up till around 10:30ish. But, we headed out to Pastor Sam and Mrs. Karen's tonight for supper. We brought pizza over. After we ate, they all played dominoes...I held court in the living room with the pets :) Really, I was more focused on my writing, but eventually all of 3 of their pets ended up lounging around while I was writing. Beau even hopped up and proceeded to demand attention (which I gladly gave). And! I wrote out 13 pages of the next chapter....filled up all that's left of my notepad too -..- WTB new notepad! It would have been a wonderful evening (aside from me struggling with describing new characters) if it weren't that I was allergic to cats and Peaches and Beau are very much feline. Abby, their dog, was sleeping on a chair, but the two cats were around and I was petting I came home sniffling and itching. Still... I love cats ;_;

I don't really understand why, but I set LoudTwitter to post my Tweeting at 10 and's always a little more than an hour late >..> /shrug.

Oh well. Time for bed now. We're going to be headed to Branson tomorrow to check out draperies :) 4 Naquin women all about Branson... Sounds fun, no?

Goodnight, Sunshines.
